I was wondering when TikTok would finally lead to unreleased music going viral since so many old songs and old album tracks are going viral.

The fans sort of have the power to create a situation where an unreleased song can get released now. So many artists have unreleased songs that had no business being shelved

Isn’t this what happened with I’m Good (Blue)? They decided to actually release it only after the demo/leak went viral. And to a far lesser extent, Madonna recently released “back that up to the beat” which was an old b-side.

Another example is when Ice Spice’s “Munch” was literally everywhere yet somehow didn’t chart.

TikTok counting would not suddenly make a song *not charting period* skyrocket to a high position. Especially if were a small representation in the formula such as 10% or 20%. It would at most make it chart at a lower position like… #95? Which again, would still leave the same scenario of songs that are surprisingly well known in the moment not charting anywhere near where you thought they would be.

You could argue TikTok counting would make a song that’s maybe #20 or #10 on Hot 100 already prior, but very viral, jump to a notably different peak.

So yeah, that changes nothing in the context of the 2 songs discussed.

how does radio factor in for the Hot 100 formula now ? So if for example Miley has 100 million listeners , how many points does that equate to ? It’s still a mystery to me 😂

^Going by @lippredicts numbers, 100 million radio airplay is equivalent to about 124 points. More importantly, it would have been just under 40% of Flowers' weekly Hot 100 points.

^On Valentine's day. But its debut this week at Bubbling Under comes from a full week of tracking. It is doubtful that it would have debuted within the Hot 100 had it had gotten a full week of tracking the week before.
