At least him getting another hit would further the 2014 comparisons to this year (Taylor herself having number-one hits, Meghan and Sam Smith having hits again, and now Hozier/the Take Me To Church guy having a chance to get another hit)

there is genuinely a negative chance of this. Unless it blows up over the week. Taylor is giga gapping in sales and barring her TUMBLING down the charts on Spotify (which is unlikely with her tour being so huge this week), she’ll outstream healthily

Isn’t that the same case scenario as Die For You? i don’t think it ever went viral it was more like a slow rise and fall on streaming platforms until it got pushed as a proper current single.

That's not the case, the song has been consistently streaming good for many years but nothing too crazy, however a TikTok trend in late '21 led to a full blown resurgence on streaming the following year which led us here. It's funny since it had initial gains and then fell off again, and then bizarrely this last summer it just blew up out of nowhere.
