In Kelly's case specifically her Christmas/holiday albums are among her best albums, as evidenced by many users putting one of WIR and/or WCCA towards the top of their lists.
I think it largely depends on the album/artist though. I'm sure there are plenty of artists who treat Christmas albums as nothing more than an afterthought but Kelly doesn't seem to really do that.

Right now including Christmas Chemistry My December Wrapped in Red Breakaway Thankful All I ever wanted When Christmas Comes Around Stronger Piece By Piece Meaning of Life Did I forget something Your taste How could you put MOL at the bottom when it has god-tier songs like Heat, Medicine and WYCTL?! I do like your top 4 though I revisited MOL about a month ago and I forgot about Didn't I, Cruel and Don't You Pretend. They're so good along with the other songs you listed. I can listen to this album from start to finish with out any skips except Slow Dance. It's not a bad song but a country song doesn't belong on this album. Cruel hits different for me now because they are divorced.

LOL a discography includes all of an artist's work. I'm confused as to why it wouldn't or shouldn't include holiday albums just...because someone has a personal vendetta against holiday music. Very odd.

Genuine question: Why do some of you consider a Holiday album apart of the discography? I'm not being snarky and not just for Kelly... For me, I would never as 1. I'm not huge on specifically Christmas music (winter/holiday I prefer), and lyrically it's covers/all centered around one thing... and 2. it would always be at the bottom if I did (Again, not JUST Kelly and I'm not coming for any1 lol) They are classified as "studio albums" so I have no reason to not consider them as part of their discographies. At least for me. I mean I for sure don't, but some artists do and some don't... just interesting

It's Not the songwriters Demo? Where do you find These? Sorry, I will always add the source from now on :) TikTok: @breakawayera No, it's Kelly's demo. It's like a mix of the songwriter's demo and the album version and it's more than 4 min long. It's epic imo!

Came here to see if anyone knows where to track down the studio versions of Anymore & All I Know. I heard them in a tik tok video about the unreleased My December tracks. I’m usually very good at finding this stuff but they’re evading me. Not wanting links if that’s not allowed, but more confirmation that they’re out there 😆

It's fascinating how the bangs/fringe have become a signature look for her. A lot better than what she had during Stronger era. Her current look is amazing.

I think this is our last new Kellyoke of the season, folks! Thankfully we bypassed an entire month and really only have to wait two more until Season 6! Nothing has been announced yet, but I'd expect we should be seeing the premiere of Season 6 in about a month from now. First taping starts on 9/17 (according to 1iota). So I'm guessing the premiere will be on Monday, 9/23. Past premieres: Season 1: 9/9/2019 Season 2: 9/21/2020 Season 3: 9/13/2021 Season 4: 9/12/2022 Season 5: 10/16/2023 (delayed due to the WGA strike that ended on 9/27/2023)

Thanks for pointing this out. This is my favorite behind BTHE. Imma need Ms. Clarkson to Kellyoke this gem during her next season. I've always wondered about the distant background runs on this song, whether they were actually her or just something computerized added into the production, but it does seem like they are indeed her, but just pitched up in the final version. LOVE this f***ing song so much!

Now a snippet of 'The Game' leaked. Another Sia collab. And a snippet of the studio version of 'You Still Won't Know What It's Like'. TikTok: @breakawayera

I need "The Game" in full now please I agree. This is so much better than Invincible. I know it was for chemistry and sound wise it doesn't really fit but, for me, my mistake sticks out on the album. Still Don't Know What It's Like studio version is beautiful. I still don't understand why it wasn't released as a charitable single. I just listened to the snippet of her talking about how her label was stopping it. No wonder she left RCA. That must have broke her heart, not being able to release it and make money and bring awareness to House of Hope.

New snippet leak: chemistry reject 'Don't Blame Me' Before this one there is a 'Little White Pill' snippet. Again I am amazed by the My December rejects. The usual MD discussions got boring. The real question is: why were mediocre songs chosen to be on it?

Edit: No more leaked content :(

I woke up this morning convinced Kelly had announced her Christmas duet with Michael Buble. It must have been a dream because there is no talk of it. It was so real. It was announced via Twitter or some social media post.

New snippet leak: chemistry reject 'Don't Blame Me' Before this one there is a 'Little White Pill' snippet. Again I am amazed by the My December rejects. The usual MD discussions got boring. The real question is: why were mediocre songs chosen to be on it? I don't have TikTok so I haven't heard any of these leaks, so can't speak to their content/quality, but it seems like post-Breakaway, Kelly's songwriting tended to fall into two themes: painful breakup and fame suffering. I think the latter is where the most interesting stuff that I've heard laid, but mostly it seemed like the label wanted Breakaway 2.0 and Kelly wanted anything but. I think Kelly's lack of clarity on what she wanted for this album combined with the label being so antagonistic about the project made something that was neither Breakaway 2.0 nor an artistic masterpiece. I think if the label had approached this with more foresight about the talent they had on their hands and how exhausted that talent had become, they could have worked with her to create something stronger and more interesting, while still negotiating contract stuff so Kelly could have more artistic control and they could pad things on their end to get more commercial work out of her. I think the market now makes commercial space for more personal, anti-fame material, but back in 2006/2007 it wasn't the same landscape for female popstars, particularly one still trying to justify how they got their start. Also, I think something we haven't retroactively added to the MD discussion is just how much Kelly's hatred of working with Dr. Luke influenced the sound/production of My December. Had she had a good experience with Max and Luke, I can see her being open to collaborating with them as long as she could have a greater hand in songwriting with them. The label wanting to prioritize working with them is probably a huge factor she rebelled against, and working with one producer was the only way to get this project off the ground financially and logistically speaking without label support.

Someone on ATRL was able to find some updated units for a bunch of KC songs/albums. You can see more here: atrl.net/forums/topic/167-kelly-clarkson-receipts-when-christmas-comes-around/page/13/#comments but I just thought the Atlantic ones in particular were interesting: WCCA - 450k chemistry - 250k LSS - 1.7m B&B - 1.05m SCYHM - 800k UTM - 750k IDTAY - 550k mine - 500k I wonder if they'll certify a bunch of them when whatever she has coming out for Christmas comes out or after the holiday season when I'm sure a bunch of them will have gained a lot of units. It's sad that there's so many she needs to have certified from RCA that never will be

Since not all of you rushed to TikTok to hear Letter To Rose, I want to share the lyrics:
I don't know what to say It's not like anything will make you feel better So I pretend I don't know what's wrong I'm just not happy I don't know if it's you Don't ask me again
People change It happens all the time Love isn't enough sometimes to survive It's just not enough
This might be selfish I might be thinking only of myself But if I don't, who will? I have to live my life I'm sorry, I have to leave now
Yes, I know where I'm going and I know where I'm not I fell in love with another and she's what I want This is what I want
The kids will be just fine They'll survive When they get older they'll see Why I had to say goodbye Goodbye
Rose just sat there and cried She couldn't understand How a man could leave his wife and all his children And daddy, neither can I

It is amazing to think that she has (substantially) more Emmy's at this point than Grammy's. I'm obviously very happy for her and glad she's found this route for staying relevant, yet it does make me kind of mourn for her popstar days.
To be clear, I don't want her trying to recreate them at this point. It's more that I am sad she was so unhappy during those days that she (arguably) kind of self-sabotaged herself. I truly think she could've been even bigger than she was in the 2000's/early 2010's. She was obviously big from 2005-2006 but I really think she could've sustained that level for much longer had she been surrounded by different people, had a more understanding record label, and/or a different mindset regarding her fame and celebrity status.
Obviously we don't know (nor, I suspect, will we ever) everything that went on behind closed doors between Clive Davis, RCA, and her relationship status at the time.
If the Breakaway album had been followed up with MLWSWY in late 2006...oh what could've been. Even a more heavily label-supported My December album (with better production and swapping some of the songs out for a few of the unreleased ones) could've been a much bigger success for her IMO.
I don't think she ever would've reached something like a Taylor Swift level of fame, nor would she want to. Yet, had she/RCA made different choices regarding her career in the mid-late 2000s and early 2010's, I think she would actually be at closer to the level of someone like Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey or even Beyonce at this point--especially with the success of the TV show.
Of course, this doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things as she's still wildly successful and has been in both music and television. I just wish she had been this HAPPY doing music as she is doing television. In a way, I can't really blame her for putting music on the back burner when behind the scenes issues probably broke her heart in ways we'll never understand.

I'll always wonder what would have happened if RCA just supported My December. She was so big at the time, if she had their support, even for singles, I think the album would have done fine. Obviously not Breakaway numbers. I think there's a lot she doesn't say about the bad times of RCA. I think I mentioned it a few posts up with 'Still Won't Know What It's Like' and her saying her label was blocking it from being released. That's pretty low and that was in the Stronger era when she did make another comeback. I know fans get frustrated with Atlantic but I don't think she had a choice with leaving RCA.

I was hoping RCA would at least re-press Breakaway on vinyl for its 20th anniversary, but I feel like pre-orders would have gone out for that by now. I have the Urban Outfitters record, but a proper gatefold release would be nice.

Honestly MD was not worth a full Breakaway push - the songs are largely mid as is the production, but it definitely could have been managed better for sure.
