It opened at #1 on Spotify U.S. (where she has three of the Top 5). Tay welcomed the 10K/Capitol star as a surprise guest on the Eras Tour 5/26, treating that night's audience to a performance and video premiere of their collab. Swift's return to #1 ends the tremendous reign at the top of Morgan Wallen's One Thing at a Time (Big Loud/Mercury/Republic), which logged 12 consecutive weeks in that coveted spot. Alamo's Lil Durk will have the week's biggest debut. As of this writing, he also owns the Top 3 spots, eight of the Top 10 and 16 of the Top 20 at Apple Music. Taylor Swift (Republic): 225-275k Lil Durk (Alamo): 125-150kExpect a greater than usual margin of error for these figures due to Memorial Day.

Adding up the ones in her store and the ones that can be bought from places like itunes, Target exclusives, etc, and the explicit/non-explicit stuff, I counted 5 vinyl versions, 7 CD versions, 7 digital versions, and 1 cassette version. That's about 20? I might miss or double counted, but 20 sounds about right. |

Taylor has folks pressed about the alternatives. Lol They're going to be super bothered when all artists follow suite and it becomes the new standard in a few years. It already has begun in the past few years. Look at Lil Nas X's million remixes, look at BTS, look at Kelly Clarkson's latest release on vinyl with many different options, etc. As time changes record companies and artists are going to find more and more diverse ways to turn a better profit and obtain better sales (especially in this dying market), one of which is many alternate versions, and if there are people wanting (as no one is forced) to purchase different versions I don't see the issue at a fundamental level. It's only going to get "worse" as time passes so buckle up. lol Alternatives are nothing new anyway, even artists like Mariah had several versions, remixes of her singles to pad things in the 90s and 2000s which certainly contributed to her records (don't know why albums should be any different).

too soon to call midnights the biggest female album since 25 in the US? might be missing something but the fact that it's very likely to hit 6M SPS in just over a year after release is insane, I think rep and anti are at around 5.6M, lover 5.05M, sour 4.6M?

I'd be pissed if I owned the vanilla version of Midnights, when basically every other version is superior. I can see why stans end up with 3 or 4 copies of each of her albums.
Otherwise if you can sell it, do it. No one else right now can pull these numbers. Although in terms of revenue someone like BTS could probably generate more profit because K Pop is priced so much higher.

Lil Durk's should be considered a bit underwhelming considering this new album has 21 songs versus 17 songs in the original version of his previous album. That, for a potential 4% first week gain versus the corresponding one for the latter. If Morgan manages to get #2, that would make it a bit worse.
