I would hate for her new team to make the exact same mistake her team made when they relaunched her in 2015. "Next Boyfriend" sounded radio ready and streamed (sold) well, but the bigger hit "Road Less Traveled" was sitting right there. In the end NB flopped and RLT took OTV to make it happen. As much as I think "A Walk in the Bar" could work, and it's certainly streaming alright, the bigger hit is "Thicc As Thieves". Sure, Lainey has like 3 singles at radio, but I don't think that's a problem really. Big Loud has one shot to make this work. They've done great so far, but the real test is to see how/if they can revive a radio relationship for LA like they did with Jake Owen. It was admittedly easier for him as he had many major hits while LA has one and a few features. While I do fault UMG for many things regarding her career, I don't fault them for "Next Boyfriend" at all, I fault radio. Like you said "Next Boyfriend" sold/streamed really well for it do have been overlooked by radio, if radio sent it up the chart like they did RLT, I feel like it would've been even bigger than that one. It had all the makings of a hit, but radio chose to be ignorant. That being said, Put me on the "Thicc As Thieves" train if they choose to go with anything from this ep for radio. I do think 4 singles for Lainey might start to push her to the risk of overdoing it though.

Yeah "Next Boyfriend" had all the makings of being a big hit that radio decided to just completely ignore (it should have gotten OTV honestly) and for as much as I love RLT it never had much buzz before it's release or after.

Yeah, "Road Less Traveled" was sadly on track to peak in the 50s @ country radio until she lucked out with the OTV selection; "Next Boyfriend" looked like the right choice and was going to be the bigger hit (despite flopping) if it weren't for OTV saving RLT. I imagine given the way NB connected with minimal airplay, that it would've done better than RLT if it were given the proper radio push.
"Thicc as Thieves" is her best bet at this point at a buzz-worthy song to really re-launch her career imo.

Thanks for reminding me that Next Boyfriend was just completely neglected for no reason.
The way radio has treated this outstanding artist is just horrid. I respect her for continuing to go for it unlike every other artist that radio has given this kind of treatment to (except, I can't really think of anyone else who they give consistent top 30 'hits' to but nothing really beyond that).

I do think that Lauren debuted at a very unfortunate time for females in the genre.
Right at the beginning of tomatogate and the bro country era. I do wonder if she debuted a little while later, around when Kelsea,Maren, and Carly did if radio would have been more receptive.

Lauren should be one of the top females in the genre. Also I'd be so down for a Lauren/Lainey 2024 tour!
