Will need to sit on this statement longer but tempted to say this is, lyrically, her best written song ever.
Kind of imagining what a statement this would have made had they just gone with this as the lead. Fuck. This doesn't just hit, it hurts.

Strange they picked this over a deluxe re-release track ? None of the deluxe tracks sound like singles to me. Maybe “roses” if they really wanted to push something from the re-release. But “lighthouse” is probably their best bet. They just need to get her out there performing the song everywhere so people can connect. Viral performances (like with pxp and her various covers) are how she gets the most media attention these days. |

I have mixed feelings about this song being the next single they push.
Are we just giving up hope she'll ever have another uptempo hit? Because pushing ballad after ballad is probably not gonna do her any favors. The Piece by Piece moment was just that, a moment. I really don't think lightning will strike twice. Maybe I'll be proven wrong...would love to be. But I still think an uptempo would be just as likely to strike as a ballad.

Yeah, I have a really hard time imagining "lighthouse" doing anything on the charts, seems dead on arrival to me. "down to you" would have been my choice.
