I’m curious what non-US iTunes buyers via VPN think they’re actually achieving for these K-pop artists?

High H100/B200 placement via sales means nothing in terms of breaking an act. High streaming could get the attention of some radio groups.

This type of lightweight boy pop from the 1990s doesn’t really have mass appeal. If it did, we’d seen a resurgence with next-gen BSB/N*SYNC-type groups. Hasn’t happened in 20 years.

But, hey, if they want to pump foreign $$$ into US economy, I say go for it!

This is going to be devastating to our public access of radio data; it'll basically end Kworb's website since he pulls his estimates from AllAccess' website, and that's probably going to mean the end of chart predictions as well (without access to radio data/estimates I imagine it'll be impossible to make predictions).

The AllAccess website will stay live for "an undetermined amount of time" so we have no idea how long we've still got before our best resource is gone, or if some alternative will present itself.

Wow, this is devastating to hear, but hopefully a replacement will come up.

According to the kpop sub reddits, Scooter is involved and so they have a radio deal.

I don't think the end of AllAccess is quite so devastating and that predictors can still do their thing, they'll still have the previous radio chart, they still know ballpark what AI for what position. It might hurt debuts a bit but even those we have a good idea what certain levels of radio deals means for AI.

Radio is also not a wide swing metric, it is a slow change one. So AI is fairly consistent week to week for a song, either in decline or rising.

Don't forget predictors already work with sales which does not provide numbers during the week for them. As well as Amazon and Apple not providing specific streaming numbers.

They may be off a bit more by a position or something but they'll still know if a song is going number one top 3 or 5 or top ten in most cases.

edited to clarify: yes I know with iTunes they have a rolling indicator during the week as a guide - but that was the whole point of my comment on radio being constant week to week and that last week chart is enough of a guide.

It does seem like they might be trying to close the streaming gap too, though how much of this is in the US, we'll have to wait a few hours to see.

I think it’ll debut in the Top 10 mainly due to fans trying to mass buy the song on iTunes and other sales platforms. U.S Streaming is too early to tell. If it’s top 10 however, they’ll be just enough for them to celebrate “odds being against them” just for it to take a nosedive to the bottom Top 80 the next week.

US. It was the 6th biggest non-Christmas song ever on global. Honestly I'm impressed, I want to say this is the top k-pop debut ever on US spotify. Good for him, I wonder if it'll be stable tho.

Ok it’s debuting at No. 1 on Hot 100 then. At least we’re preventing Morgan from getting near LNX record. I do find it however interesting that BTS is the first band since One Direction to have a least 2 members have No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 (second also with 2 members debuting at No. 1 tying 1D with Harry and Zayn), assuming "seven" enters at the top. I knew they were huge, but I never knew they were huge enough to have multiple band members create successful solo careers for themselves and crossover in the US market. 

Generally if they play their cards right, this can take off on U.S radio and BTS can finally escape the mass buying accusations.

Lol it needs 150-180K sales to go #1 on the Hot 100, so chill. Without website sales that's going to be tough af. Who even knows how much it's selling on iTunes atm.
