I'd prefer if this was sent in the same format that I have What does this mean? wrip I generally prefer if lists are sent with artists & song titles formatted like I have them in the OP (i.e. Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice w/ Aqua - Barbie World). If you send differently (like if you typed out - Nicki Minaj - Barbie World) then I won't really care that much since this list is easier to input manually. I hope that helps! |

Miguel - "Sure Thing"

It's kind of wild to me that this 1) became an even bigger hit than it already was in 2011, and 2) is making a 2nd year end list but 12 years after the first one - I'm not complaining though because this is truly a great song. Miguel hits like 97% of the time and the other 3% is never anything I truly hate.

I’m not a huge fan of sure thing at all. I guess it’s tolerable but it’s massively overrated imo. a bit disappointing that out of all songs from that time that could have come back and become hits now, it was that one.

Sure Thing deserved to be bigger in 2011 and am very glad it got big again. Would have been my 1 here, and also spoiler, very very high for me on 2023 year end too.
I also think that this is Miguels best song too.

Sure Thing probably would’ve also been in my top 5 in this RD if it was here. It’s not Miguel’s best hit (I heavily prefer his trio of 2013 hits over it) but it’s really good.

I don't really have any strong feelings towards this, it's a fine song but not anything too special. It would've felt pretty random if this made the SOTS list though because it doesn't really feel like it's made much of an impact on the charts.

"Next Thing You Know" is just a fantastic composition. Perfectly encapsulates the story arc of a relationship from start-to-finish. The part about being in the hospital holding the baby and the doctor is calling him dad and the guy isn't totally sure how to take being referred to as "dad" yet is just such wholesome writing.

I still love the melody when Luke Combs sings "Like a compass needle needing its true north" in Love You Anyway.
Solid Jersey Club attempt in Where She Goes, even the atmosphere feels like a weaker Dakiti.
Sure Thing is saved by Miguel's vocals which is above average for male R&B star.
Next Thing You Know reads too much like a diary entry, and I don't think Jordan Davis is an interesting storyteller.
Search & Rescue is lame. The "mami" part is cringe.

Ballot Update
- 12 songs now have #1 ranks, while 11 have #20 ranks. 4 songs have both #1 and #20 ranks.
- The 3 largest point gaps between songs have gotten larger, and are by 91, 76, and 72 points.
- Only 3 songs at this point do not have top 2 ranks, and only 2 songs do not have top 3 ranks.
- The top 3 highest SDs belong to #19, #13, and #12. The lowest 3 SDs belong to #3, #1, and #18.
- Some of these lists gave me a headache.
This is due in 1 week! Hope to get close to or pass last year's total of 64 :)

Chemical’s grown on me a lot recently, would also probably be in my top 5 if it was on here.
Un x100to is my favorite regional Mexican hit by a mile. I’d probably rank it around the middle.
