Is “Don’t let the old man in” eligible for anything? I know it was released 5 years ago but they recently rereleased it and it charted again. It would be nice for TK to win song of the year.

Very clear they are starting to move onto the next generation with no Carrie in EOTY and no Miranda in FVOTY.
Aside from that, very surprised Carly Pearce didn’t get a nomination in anything, mainly FVOTY and Music Event of the year.

How did Parmalee not get nominated in Group again is always annoying for me.

Thrilled to see Kassi Ashton get her first nomination despite radio being lukewarm to her recent singles. Hoping "Called Crazy" somewhat blows up this year and she gets another shot at the category next year (Megan Moroney is definitely taking it this year).

No single of the year for the 10 week #1, but Nate Smith did get a New Male nom.
As did Dylan Scott. My Girl went #1 in 2016.
Great that Kane Brown got an Entertainer nod. Seems like he gets forgotten, even though he cranks out hits on a level just below Combs and Wallen (maybe around same, I don't know...).
Unlike Parmalee as mentioned. At least they finally left off Midland. (I love me some Midland, but no, no awards for you)

Heart like a truck was nominated last year for single of the year and this year it’s nominated for song of the year? Dylan Scott has been out since 2013 and more than a decade later he’s nominated for new male? Kacey Musgraves didn’t release solo material during the eligibility period but somehow is nominated for female vocalist? I don’t think I’ll watch/stream this year’s show cause these nominations are not exciting

Very, very surprised on the Carly Pearce snub.
But LOVE the Kelsea album nom. Give here the award, dammit.

It's the first time Miranda isn't nominated to FVOTY since 2007, right?

So even though I watch these things, I don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes to lead up to them so I have a question: what is the likelihood of an artist performing even if they aren't nominated for anything? From what I know, usually at the Grammys, you have to be in a category to perform for the most part. Is that how it works for the ACM Awards?

It’s not uncommon at all for an artist to perform without being nominated. These are more relaxed than the Grammys. Just depends if the artist wants to or not. If it’s an A lister, I have a hard time believing they’d deny them opportunity to perform solely for the viewership draw.

Bailey Zimmerman getting snubbed again and the surprising well deserved Cody Johnson nom for Entertainer! Heck yeah!

If I were Dylan Scott I’d have asked my team to not push me for that nomination. Yikes that’s embarrassing that over a decade in you’re still unsuccessful enough to be considered “new”.
Consider that Thomas Rhett was only in his 3rd single the same year Dylan made his debut.

Let's go Kelsea!!! What a huge year and she DESERVES AOTY. But I bet Stapleton or Luke Combs take it. Luke probably wins Song/Single right?
Carly is in dangerous territory if she isn't even going to get the critical/awards acclaim because radio is not going to sign up for more bargain bin breakup songs from her. Happy she was snubbed. No risk of her wailing away in a performance slot.

I know the award will probably go to Lainey, but im really ready to see Kelsea take home FVOTY at one of these. And I don’t just say that because she’s who I prefer to Lainey, but she has had an absolutely stellar year for herself.
As for Carly, I do agree she’s in a weird spot, it felt like she was poised to be the next critical darling, with all her momentum from 29 and winning FVOTY in 2021, but I feel like when Lainey blew up, they shifted all attention from Carly to Lainey, and just kinda dumped her.
I’ll be curious to see what the nominations look like at this years CMAs after her album comes out.
From a radio standpoint; I don’t think she’ll be a consistent #1 hit maker like Carrie, or more recently what we’ve been seeing with Lainey, but I do think she might take a similar radio route like Miranda, and will consistently get moderate top 20s, top 10s, and #1s when the songs are right. This is under the circumstance that she becomes well rounded with her song choices though, as if she doesn’t I do think radio will fatigue sooner or later, like what we saw when Dan & Shay got into a rut.

I do believe we have moved into the next generation of artists who all deserve awards in their own right. Personally, I want Kelsea to take home FVOTY but I would also be okay with Lainey.
Selfishly, I miss the big vocalists of the 90s into the 2000s (Martina, Faith, Carrie, etc.). We just do not have female artists like that these days and it is a shame. Those women swept the FVOTY categories because of their immense talent and would like to see it return for upcoming artists.

No risk of her wailing away in a performance slot. Same. I was really happy to see Carly Pearce left out. Megan Moroney making a surprise appearance in the category already was exciting to see imo. Though I will say Kacey Musgraves getting in was odd since she didn't actually do anything until after the eligibility window ended, lol. Overall pretty pleased with the nominations across the board. Love that Kassi Ashton and Kylie Morgan got nods for New Female. Excited for Kelsea's noms (esp Album!). Kane in EOTY is nice to see. Paramlee sucks so I personally love that they got snubbed again, lol. Dylan Scott being considered for New Male continues to be funny as others mentioned. No Female in Single is a bummer, too.

Why tf is "Heart Like a Truck" in Song this time when it was in Single at these same awards last year? This kind of thing is so baffling, but also evidence of how they just check off the same people without any real thought.
It's sad how poorly Carly Pearce's career has been managed.

Another couple snubs are Tyler Hubbard and Scotty McCreery. Both have been killing it lately.

We had what looked like the next wave of big vocalists in Lauren Alaina, Danielle Bradbery, and Cassadee Pope, with only one of them surviving the early 2010s (and really only barely surviving at the end of it all), and I agree that an undeniable huge vocalist is missing from the mainstream.

I still think Lauren Alaina could've nailed that power ballad niche for the new generation, but she literally hasn't released anything to country radio that even appeals to that void that she could so easily have filled. Gabby Barrett is the closest thing to fulfilling that space right now, and she's also floundering lately despite having the vocal chops and the material to lean into that market easily.

I was hoping that Reba would have slipped into Female Vocalist, especially after the CMT awards. The nominations make sense though.

Not the "Like My Mother Does" & "Eighteen Inches" erasure I do agree it was a missed opportunity entirely. The Carrie comparisons were too real for too long for her team to ever think that was a good idea, but in hindsight it probably was. And since then, LA has completely pulled back from delivering much power and is sticking to her lower register, which is likely a longevity choice. Gabby Barrett has also been entirely pulling back on giving huge vocal moments. She keeps it pretty tame across the entire new album despite being able to SING (See: "Goldmine", "Write It On My Heart", etc). It's as if being a powerful vocalist isn't in style anymore. See: Zach Bryan, Kacey Musgraves.
