I think it's clear radio wants Cruel Summer/Anti Hero/Karma Taylor. While TTPD itself is a smash being nearly 6x platinum, I think it would be wise to start planning for TS12 and hopefully it's an upbeat happy album, because she's obviously very happy right now.
I still think Down Bad would have worked the best as a first single, and still can work.. With My Boy being the 2nd single. I still think TTPD is some of her best work even if it's a midtempo/ballad album.

I also think TS12 she should drop a single well in advance, drop 1 more the week of the album. This way she gets 2 #1s. She could have easily been near the Beatles #1 record right now. LS, YBWM, IKYWT, Karma, and yes even Down Bad should undeniably be #1s. I think August and Getaway Car could have been #1s too. I think an August month with a video and vinyls could propel it to #1 EASY. This could have been a #1 as well had they let go of Fortnight quicker and delivered a proper video with vinyls or something. Honestly, they should have let go of Fortnight at least 2 weeks after it fell from #1 on the hot 100, and nobody would have batted an eye.

I think if she released a single one week before her next album it would be break so many streaming records. Let's remember Fortnight did 25 million on Spotify alongside 30 other tracks. Imagine if she had 1 song to focus on, it would be insane - especially if it was on par with Anti-Hero and Cruel Summer.

I don't think 1 week would change anything regarding the single release dynamics for the album project. That one song would get additional week at #1 but that's it. 3-4 weeks might change the game a bit so that another track could sneak in at #1 when the album is out. I don't think it's likely for her to get post-album #1's at this stage of her career, unless a big viral moment like Cruel Summer for a random track occurs, but you cannot plan for those things.

I still want to see an artist of her caliber release just monthly/quarterly singles and then throw them on an album with other new songs. If she released a single worthy track every month or two last year she would have racked up so many #1s. Then throw them all on an album and drop the Anthology bonus tracks or something. The artists that are so big upfront like Taylor cannibalize streaming when they are getting millions of spins in the launch week. This strategy for the right artist would be so explosive on the charts.

Never mind that this had one of the best streaming holds of the album since TTPD dropped, but radio has never been particularly good at reacting/adapting at an appropriate pace to the streaming charts. But also, Taylor is coming off a string of radio smashes and even 'Fortnight' held its own. Why would radio not lean into that? Look, I want Gaga to score a win too, but this hate-on of yours for Taylor has gotta go lol.

I am happy enough with a top 10 peak for this and then letting it die. I think that’s appropriate. I will also agree that this still holding onto life is far less of an issue than some of the songs in the top ten not moving for months and months and months and months.

For Taylor and her team to have such a supposed stranglehold on programmers you'd figure they could literally manage to boost the 45 spins it needed today to secure top 10 placement this week as opposed to having to endure yet another gripping week of it floundering between 10-12.
