I think Down Bad will get pushed after Christmas is over. Sooooooon the Christmas songs will take over. Until then, I Can Do It with a Broken Heart is doing fine. Her album will go over 6 million by Christmas and keep selling so why not go with Down Bad in Jan!?!

I'd be happy for this era to end with the tour and for her to move on to a different project (probably a new TV). I still love the album, but I'm already burnt out on it. I don't really see the point in pushing any more singles, especially if we aren't going to get anymore music videos (and something tells me we won't). The album will sell truckloads without any active hit.

Plus, she got two top ten hits on CHR this era. Better to quit while she is ahead

I don’t see the harm in pushing another single. But I do want a video for it, whatever it is!

Yeah, I think Taylor can move on from this album and focus on her next project. I don't see another single moving the needle much, and despite the massive success of the album, I think it's more important for her to change her sound and focus on the next record.

This clinched the top 10 on Billboard's Pop Airplay chart this week, and should do the same tonight on Mediabase.

I really do want DB to at least get pushed just so we can settle this “Cruel Summer 2!” silliness tbh.

I'd be very surprised if this was it for TTPD. I'm still expecting a third single - probably the song she actually wanted to push as the second single.

The odd thing leaks but her team usually does a very good job at ensuring things stay quiet. It would be a bad single choice in general. I can live with "Down Bad" although it wouldn't be my first choice. I think her outfits at the VMA's sort of hinted at something related to that song, and I think she'll want something else out there for people to talk about heading into Grammy season.

There are rumours that SHS is next - which I would support. Not sure it would be a hit, but it’s a change of pace for her and I suspect she will release the Anthology on vinyl for the holidays. It makes sense.

I hope So High School isn't next. It sounds very juvenile, which I know that is the point.
Id rather her just wait two months and tease Reputation.
I think one of those singles would be a great shakeup.

I would be so here for So High School or another left of center choice like WAOLOM. Nothing is going to smash, so let’s have some fun and enjoy the era!

I really do want DB to at least get pushed just so we can settle this “Cruel Summer 2!” silliness tbh. What? I've not seen a singular person claim "Down Bad" would perform anything like "Cruel Summer". Where are these people saying this? lol Certainly isn't here on Pulse. Or are we being super exaggerative because some said it had more hit potential than others left on the album, because that's a huge stretch. TTPD never housed any "Cruel Summer" size hits and no one ever argued it did. As far as the next single, it's too far into the era for anything to "smash", not to mention no songs on TTPD scream smash to begin with, so I'd rather them just end it with this than to have some song fast-walk its way to a middling top 20 peak. lol TTPD was never gonna be the album to yield a bunch of huge pop hits and everyone knew that on first listen more or less, but it's done what it was supposed to at the end of the day. If anything is to be released at this point, it needs something sensationalized to go alongside it to boost interest and the only song I could even imagine accomplishing something like that is "So High School" due to "Travis" and the media fodder a video featuring the two could create. Plus, personally, it's a fav and so sonically nostalgic so I wouldn't complain! lol

For TTPD, a new single will be about giving the album longetivity not getting another #1.
Radio, playlisting support is good at giving songs a moderate boost in streams that can last a long time.
Her priority has always been album success over singles after all.

Not a fantastic, but not at all a bad run if you ask me. A solid overall top 10 Hot 100 hit, top ten on pop, and will rank in the top 40 of the year-end Hot 100. People have complained somewhat at the lackluster singles performance this era (which I agree there is some merit to), but lets not forget it did produce 14 TOP 14 HITS, with all of them charting for multiple weeks and at least two of them will rank in the year-end top 40, so that's about at least on par with Reputation and Lover (pre-Cruel Summer).
It would be nice for at least one more single though, even if it doesn't peak too highly or boost album performance at all (because it clearly doesn't need any more of that), but sometimes it's just nice to keep the era going by having another song played on the radio and to have some more visuals, whether it be a music video or show performances, etc.

People have complained somewhat at the lackluster singles performance this era . But realistically speaking has this era had lackluster performance in the singles department? Because if we're going off reasonable expectation, this album was never going to yield a slew of radio smashes and one overwhelmingly unanimous verdict upon initial release from listeners was the album had "no big radio songs", so why would people be expecting huge smashes and then when the songs hit top 10 despite the fact they're not radio-fodder, they be seen as an "under-performance"? I mean even this track is reminiscent of "Mastermind", as people noted upon release, and no one ever thought to say "Mastermind" was some huge potential smash off Midnights. lol I mean we're working with material 1/3rd as catchy and ready for radio as singles from the last era. Personally speaking, I knew the singles this era would play out as they have. Actually I was expecting even worse. It's not as if the album had radio-ready singles like "Anti-Hero" or "Lavender Haze" and they just underperformed. You might be able to say that about "MBOBHFT" because it would be a song tailored more for radio, but it hasn't even been released. Personally, I thought the best shot this album had at a hit single was maybe "Down Bad" having a slowburn to #1 ala "Delicate". lol I guess what I'm saying is I don't see how anyone heard TTPD and expected performance better than what we've gotten. It was always gonna play out much more closer to your "Cardigan" and "Willow" than your "Blank Space" or "Anti-Hero". Most saw this song as the album's best shot at single success and even I didn't see that as the chorus was too grating. lol

^^ 14 top 14 hits? What are we using as a definition of a « hit » these days? 🤔 Oh "Fortnight" and "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart" are both hits, no doubt about that. People just have this absurd standard with Taylor, given she's essentially the biggest artist out, that if she doesn't hit #1 across the board she has disappointed. Top 10 on the Hot 100 and the artist's core format has always been considered hit status in every metric and by all standards tho. I do kinda wish she had went ultra-commercial with this album, catering to radio tho, because it would have been nice to see her followup the monstrous success of "Anti-Hero" and "Cruel Summer" with a succession of massive singles because she could have easily had a second 1989. Guess she didn't feel the desire to do that since she just netted her two biggest singles and the personal connection to TTPD took precedence.
