6. Hot Boyz - Missy Elliott"Hot Boyz" was the third and final single from her album Da Real World. The original version only features Lil' Mo, but it was the remix, which features Lil' Mo, Nas, Eve, and Q-Tip, that was the main single. It was a Top 5 hit on the Hot 100 and spent 18 weeks at #1 on the rap chart. The music video primarily uses the remix, with one notable exception. Since Q-Tip wasn't in the video, his verse was replaced with Missy's verse from the original version. The Jay-Z song here isn’t my favorite of his, but 10th feels harsh to me.
Surprised that Get It On Tonite made it to 8. I didn’t dislike the track, but it really didn’t do a lot for me. It was just kinda there.
Glad 4 of my top 5 are still in (not upset to see my 7 in the top 5 though)

Today's extra is from the soundtrack to the movie Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. It topped the Hot 100 and peaked at #3 for R&B.

10. I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me) - Jay-Z (7): I would have loved seeing this make it even higher, but I'm glad to see this song make it to the Top 10. This is such a fire jam that I absolutely love a ton from Jay-Z. Probably up there as one of my favorite songs of his, though not sure where. 9. No More - Ruff Endz (11): This song did better than I expected. But also quite an impressive showing for this song despite not having any Top 4 rankings. This is a really cool, smooth jam and a great hit for Ruff Endz. Sadly, they were one hit wonders with this and it would have been nice seeing them have more hits but at least they had this song. 8. Get It On Tonite - Montell Jordan (14): This is cool, smooth and I do really like this. It's not a hugee favorite and I think it's one of those songs I don't realize how much I enjoy it until re-listening to it. It's good but still not close to "This Is How We Do It" for me. 7. Maria Maria - Santana feat. The Product G&B (2): Oooh danggg, not me losing my #2 right before the Top 5. :'( Ugh no, I'm sad about that - such a bummer. But yeah with my high ranking, I absolutely LOVE this song so much. It's so good - it's smooth, sensual, catchy and just got such a good vibe to it. Also love the storytelling in the song too. 6. Hot Boyz - Missy Elliott (6): This is also a cool and hot song from Missy. Again, it's another song I do really like but it's not one of my major favorites from Missy. But I do enjoy the beat and what all of the artists bring with their rap verses + Lil' Mo on the chorus. And yeah I also prefer and am more familiar the remix version. Regarding the extras, wow... once again, I'm reallly surprised about "I Wanna Know" not hitting #1 on the R&B Billboard charts. I reallly love that song a ton, one of my favorites from 2000 and a song I certainly would have ranked it high on this list - like within my Top 5. Okay now "Doesn't Really Matter" not making it to #1 doesn't surprise me too much. Not an ultimate favorite of mine from Janet, but I still love this and think this is a really cute and fun song. This is a strong Top 5! My remaining spots left: 1, 3, 4, 5, 17 OMGG such a difference with having most of the songs in my Top 5 vs. my #17. Rooting for any of the songs in my Top 5 and not my #17, of course lmao.

I've always been a huge fan of the "Hot Boyz" remix. I get so amped whenever I hear Nas, Eve and even Q-Tip spit their verses. Missy and Lil' Mo came through with the vocals and Tim with the beat. It was close to making the Top 5.
I'm thinking Destiny's Child or Toni will win this rankdown.

Welcome back to the conclusion of the Billboard #1 R&B Songs Of 2000 Rankdown! The first song leaving us now has the 2nd highest SD. Five people will lose a bottom 5, and on the flip side someone will lose their #1 (and that someone is me 😒).

But first, an extra. The single that preceded "Incomplete" peaked at #2 on the R&B chart and #3 on the Hot 100, topped the charts in New Zealand, and received four Grammy nominations. It contains an interpolation of "Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin, which led to songwriters Desmond Child and Draco Rosa receiving songwriting credit, and Child owning a majority of the song's publishing.
Fun fact: the instrumental was originally intended for Michael Jackson.
Thong Song - SisQó
The remix, featuring Foxy Brown, was featured on the soundtrack to Nutty Professor II: The Klumps.

Here we go, the final 2... 2. Say My Name - Destiny's Child"Say My Name" was the third single from The Writing's On The Wall. It topped the Hot 100 and also hit #1 in Australia. It also won Grammys for Best R&B Vocal Performance By a Duo Or Group and Best R&B Song, and was nominated for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. The music video was the first with new members Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin, who joined the group after LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett left. 5. Bag Lady - Erykah Badu (17): Okay, I dooo like (and sometimes really like) this song, but phew glad to see this was the first one to drop out of the Top 5. It's a cool, smooth song and Erykah sings well on it. But it just doesn't click or excite me like most of the songs on this list. Also impressive how there are a lot of #2s and #5s here too. Wow, this having the 2nd highest SD, which I guess isn't too surprising. 4. Independent Women Part 1 - Destiny's Child (5): Oh wow, I didn't even know or realize that this song featured vocals from Farrah Franklin. Here I thought she wasn't on any of the Destiny's Child recordings. Anywho, I do really love this song a ton and it's one of the many great hits from DC! Love this song as it's fun, catchy and has a strong message to it. But also fine with it going out as I prefer the 3 other songs. 3. He Wasn't Man Enough - Toni Braxton (4): Oooh wow, this is kind of a shock seeing this song miss out making the Top 2. :o I do really love this song but I don't mind it missing out making it there. But yeah this is a classic Toni jam. She sounds great and hot on this and this is such a fun and catchy jam! Oooh nicee and very happy with this being #1 vs. #3. Rooting for my #1 but won't be mad if my #3 wins. Also wow at a 12 point difference. :o 2. Say My Name - Destiny's Child (1): Ughh dangg it, I just had a strong feeling that "Say My Name" wasn't going to pull out the win here, ugh. I'm a little sad about that. :( This is definitely such an iconic, amazing and outstanding song from Destiny's Child. It's my favorite song of theirs and would be amongst one of my all-time favorites. Yayy for the 5 #1s and 9 #2s, which is all very impressive! If this couldn't win, I'm glad this was able to make it all the way to #2. 1. Ms. Jackson - Outkast (3): DANNGGG at the 12 #1s. That is absolutely insane! Kinda shocked this wasn't the runaway winner because of that lmao. Yeah I had a feeling "Ms. Jackson" would win..... and I'm not mad about it. This is a classic and outstanding song from OutKast... and certainly iconic too. It's pretty cool how this was the first hip-hop song to win this rankdown. I love all of the rapping from both guys and that chorus is so undeniable. Of the extras, I really love "Thong Song" a ton and it's such a classic from Sisqo. I am pretty sure this would have made my Top 7, possibly Top 5 here. I also love "There U Go." This was a great and fun debut single from P!nk, though it's so different from her other songs. Aww sad that I wasn't able to get any perfect ranks but it goes like that sometimes. Thanks for hosting this game as always, Soulsista! Can't wait for the next one!
