I LOVE Meghan but she's getting really comfortable and not really challenging herself with her songwriting. All her songs sound like commercial jingles. Like I could easily envision all her recent material playing in the bg of a Target ad.

IMO looking at how this is performing on her core format HAC, which I expected this to quickly climb into the top 30/20 at least, I don’t think this will connect for her on POP or HAC. TBH I think she wants that Idol gig so bad because she’s ready to transition her career more Into that lane bc I think her radio success is going to be more and more less likely. |

I say this with the upmost respect but if you're looking for artistically challenging material, Meghan Trainor is always gonna dissappoint you; she didn't do that at her commercial primer and she certainly won't do it by chasing TikTok virality. And the audience is more or less done with her - "Made You Look" is starting to look more and more like an isolated thing that somehow connected thanks to social media instead of a full career rebound.
