Total Weekly Streams for Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess [6/14]: 32,069,006 Total Second Week Streams for Eminem - The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de GrΓ’ce) [7/19]: 26,459,203 (-74.42%)
Not Like Us stays on top for a 7th total week as it's reign of dominance continues, even with a 9.09% drop in streams. It's a bit hard to tell what will eventually unseat it beyond a new single although a song that will make an attempt is Good Luck, Babe! as the sleeper hit just continues to rise to #2, even though it was down a miniscule 0.72%. We saw a debut in the Top 10 as Jimin's newest song Who debuted with 9.8M, actually outpeaking the lead single in streams and chart position.
As I predicted last week Eminem's album was rather frontloaded but even I couldn't have predicted how bad of a second week drop he would get. The smallest drop came for Houdini was "only" down 30.62%. His other songs weren't so luck as Somebody Save Me fell 34.6%, Tobey dropped 42.84%, Fuel's streams were almost exactly halved in 50.53%, Renaissance crashed by 60.57%, Habits crated with a 61.98% thud, and Brand New Dance collapsed by 60.47%. With 12 songs departing, that led to a disastrous second weekend drop of 74.42%.
Disappointingly we only got two entries from Childish Gambino's album on this weeks chart, one of them being Lithonia re-entering the charts. We also did see a stable re-netry with Gracie Abrams' I Love You I'm Sorry as it came back off of its music video, and we saw Stray Kids' newest single debut low. In our gains, we saw a huge one for Ain't No Love in Oklahoma which saw its streams doubled off of the release of Twisters, Charli's streams went up partially off of Kamala Harris' nomination and saw Apple and 360 get big gains, and Alibi and Did It First continued their momentum.
Notable Gains: Ain't No Love in Oklahoma - 108.21% Apple - 43.2% Alibi - 18.58% 360 - 14.33% Femininomenon - 13.85% High Road - 12.6% You Should Probably Leave - 12.21% the boy is mine - 11.8% misses - 9.95% Did It First - 9.58%

We had 'Too Sweet', 'Espresso', 'Million Dollar Baby', 'Not Like Us', 'Please Please Please' and 'A Bar Song' all blow up within a matter of weeks from each other and now everything has seemed pretty stale these last couple of weeks with those songs lingering on while few other songs can reach the highs of those ones

As for Ariana, TBIM is still making very small gains on most formats so is probably still being pushed somewhat, but for all intents and purposes it has stalled, which happened very suddenly and very surprisingly, given that most everyone liked the song and was predicted to be a huge smash. And yes, she confirmed she will focus mostly on Wicked now.
As for Fortnight, it's quite obvious that callouts were low and/or it was inorganically pushed up high on radio, thus the large decreases after it peaked. Some of it might be attributable to them taking up ICDIWABH now, but that definitely doesn't explain all of such a steep drop. Several other of Taylor's songs have had similar trajectories, including Look What You Made Me Do and several more from Reputation and Lover, and many other artists as well.
Yeah, I was saddened to see TBIM kinda stalling. The song is a big fan-favorite and was definitely expected to become a big radio/streaming hit. If properly pushed, it would have definite top 5 potential, but I understand why Ariana would prefer to fully focus on Wicked, since it's such a high-profile film. And agreed about Fortnight. I'd say Fortnight wasn't an ideal song to push to pop radio, hence the song likely receiving weak callouts. And yeah, I do remember how several Reputation-era songs of hers dropped precipitously on radio, which is also the case for other prominent artists who push songs that aren't necessarily favored by the public. Actually, in the span of like 2 days or so since my last post, Fortnight is down to #68 with 13.62M AI and a 1.05M AI loss, dropping well below Anti-Hero. I'm wondering how ICDIWABH will perform. I feel it should do well on pop radio. In fact, I felt it definitely should have been the lead single!

The crossover hit concurrently crowns its first radio chart.
Shaboozeyβs βA Bar Song (Tipsy)β adds a third week at No. 1 to its Billboard Hot 100 tab. The single became the singer-songwriterβs first leader on the chart three weeks earlier.
The song, on American Dogwood/EMPIRE (with country radio promotion by Magnolia Music), is from the Virginia-born artistβs album Where Iβve Been, Isnβt Where Iβm Going, which debuted at its No. 5 high on the Billboard 200 in June. It has spent two weeks at No. 1 on Americana/Folk Albums and reached No. 2 on Top Country Albums.
The track also became the first by a Black man, and second by a Black artist overall, after BeyoncΓ©βs βTexas Hold βEmβ earlier this year, to top both the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts. βItβs a sign of the times β genres are merging, styles are blending and the audienceβs music taste is broader than ever,β EMPIRE COO Nima Etminan recently told Billboard. βArtists donβt need to be put in boxes β whether it be by race, genre or eras. Good music is good music and the listeners largely get to dictate the charts.β
Elsewhere in the Hot 100βs top 10, Teddy Swimsβ former No. 1 βLose Controlβ reaches a notable mark, tying for the 10th-most weeks spent in the bracket by any song so far in the 2020s. The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts (dated Aug. 3, 2024) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, July 30. For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram.
βA Bar Song (Tipsy)β continues atop the Hot 100 with 85.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 10%, good for top Airplay Gainer honors for a fourth week), 37.3 million official streams (down 4%) and 15,000 sold (down 7%) in the United States July 19-25.
The track rebounds 2-1 for a second week atop the Streaming Songs chart, following a frame on top three weeks earlier; keeps at its No. 2 high on Radio Songs; and likewise holds at No. 2 after nine weeks ruling Digital Song Sales.
Reflecting its wide sonic appeal, βA Bar Song (Tipsy),β which interpolates J-Kwonβs 2004 hip-hop classic βTipsy,β became the first song ever to go top 10 on all four of the following Billboard radio charts, where it continues to gain: It jumps 3-1 on Country Airplay β marking its first airplay chart domination β and 5-4 on Rhythmic Airplay and keeps at its Nos. 5 and 6 bests on Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay, respectively.
βItβs important that Shaboozey has been able to show that you can do that as an independent artist,β Heather Vassar, senior vp of operations for EMPIRE in Nashville, told Billboard. βWe had several offers from majors who wanted to work the record and it was really important that we were able to stay true to how we operate.β
βA Bar Song (Tipsy)β concurrently tops the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart for a seventh week.
Post Maloneβs βI Had Some Help,β featuring Morgan Wallen, holds at No. 2 on the Hot 100 following six nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in May. It leads Radio Songs for a fifth week (85.5 million, up 1%) β as it ascends to No. 1 on Pop Airplay β and shines atop the multimetric Songs of the Summer chart for a ninth week.
Kendrick Lamarβs βNot Like Usβ keeps at No. 3 on the Hot 100, two weeks after it returned to the summit for a second frame on top. It tops the multimetric Hot Rap Songs chart for an 11th week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a ninth week.
Tommy Richmanβs βMillion Dollar Babyβ repeats at No. 4 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 2, as it banks a 13th week atop the multimetric Hot R&B Songs chart.
Sabrina Carpenterβs βEspressoβ keeps at No. 5 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 3, and her βPlease Please Pleaseβ dips 6-7, after it became her first No. 1 in June. She claims a seventh week with multiple songs in the top 10, extending her mark for the most among all artists this year.
In between Carpenterβs two top 10s, Hozierβs βToo Sweetβ rises 7-6 on the Hot 100, following a week at No. 1 in April. It commands the multimetric Hot Rock Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for a 17th week each and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs for a 16th week.
Teddy Swimsβ βLose Control,β which led for a week in March, is steady at No. 8 on the Hot 100, as it logs a key milestone: It ties for the 10th-most weeks tallied in the top 10 this decade.
Most Weeks in Hot 100βs Top 10 in the 2020s:
57, βBlinding Lights,β The Weeknd, 2020-21 44, βStay,β The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber, 2021-22 41, βLast Night,β Morgan Wallen, 2023-24 41, βLevitating,β Dua Lipa, 2021 38, βAs It Was,β Harry Styles, 2022-23 37, βHeat Waves,β Glass Animals, 2021-22 34, βCruel Summer,β Taylor Swift, 2023-24 31, βMood,β 24kGoldn feat. iann dior, 2020-21 29, βFlowers,β Miley Cyrus, 2023-24 28, βLose Control,β Teddy Swims, 2024 28, βKill Bill,β SZA, 2022-23 28, βAnti-Hero,β Taylor Swift, 2022-23
βLose Controlβ also becomes Teddy Swimsβ first No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Among other radio rankings, it previously topped Radio Songs, Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Adult R&B Airplay.
Rounding out the Hot 100βs top 10, Benson Booneβs No. 2-peaking βBeautiful Thingsβ is a non-mover at No. 9 and Chappell Roanβs βGood Luck, Babe!β returns to the tier and its best rank (11-10).

I think Ariana did everything she could for that song to be a hit. High budget music video, televised interview and performance, high profile remix, physical singles, remix EP, pushed to radio, playlisting. I'd say that's what every stan is looking for when saying artists should be promoting their music. I'm not sure what possibly more she could do and how this is not considered being "properly pushed."

Why would focusing on Wicked have anything to do with a June/July single? The promotion for Wicked likely will not start until well into September or even October and mainly will be in the week or 2 prior to the movie opening. TBIM was one of the most pushed and focused singles we've seen in awhile. As another poster said, there were performances, interviews, remix, etc.

I'd say that's what every stan is looking for when saying artists should be promoting their music. I'm not sure what possibly more she could do and how this is not considered being "properly pushed." I only knew about the music video and the Brandy/Monica remix, I haven't been following the single's promo I guess! I thought she just released the video and remix and that was it! And you are right in that promo campaigns are much more limited compared to a decade ago anyway. Singles get picked up by radio only if there is online interest lately. I guess I just really expected this song to go viral at some point and it just didn't, which was kind of a letdown imo! Especially because of its association with the Tik-Tok hit Fantasize. clsvltn I thought Wicked was premiering sooner, just saw it's coming out on November 22. I thought she had already began attending festivals etc. I guess I haven't been paying attention to pop culture etc lately!! My bad lol!

"Teddy Swims defies genres, making him truly unique in today's music landscape," says Warner Records evp of promotion and commerce Mike Chester.
Teddy Swimsβ βLose Controlβ adds another No. 1 to its uncommonly impressive rΓ©sumΓ© of radio chart coronations, as it rises to the top of Billboardβs Adult Contemporary survey (dated Aug. 3).
The song, on SWIMS Int./Warner Records, rules a fifth airplay ranking, as it led the all-format Radio Songs chart, Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Adult R&B Airplay prior to its Adult Contemporary takeover.
(Also notably, the track halts Miley Cyrusβ record 57-week Adult Contemporary reign with βFlowers.β)
βLose Controlβ becomes just the fifth song to have reached No. 1 on the five charts, and the first in nearly a decade, after the first four led in 2014-16. Hereβs a recap of the elite such crossover hits (dating to the early/mid-1990s, when the bulk of Billboardβs airplay charts began).
βLose Control,β Teddy Swims:

Prior to topping the five airplay charts noted above, βLose Controlβ also ascended to a No. 2 peak on Adult Alternative Airplay in January. It joins only Adeleβs βHelloβ and Sam Smithβs βStay With Meβ in having led Radio Songs, Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay, Adult R&B Airplay and Adult Contemporary and having reached the top two on Adult Alternative Airplay, reflecting rare support at formats ranging from pop and adult to R&B and rock. (βHelloβ and βStay With Meβ each hit No. 1 on Adult Alternative Airplay.)
Meanwhile, as βLose Controlβ led the all-genre, multimetric Billboard Hot 100 for a week in March, it and βHelloβ are the only songs to have topped the Hot 100 and the five airplay charts listed above.
βTeddy Swims is a once-in-a-generation talent who defies genres, making him truly unique in todayβs music landscape,β says Warner evp of promotion and commerce Mike Chester. βWhen we began promoting βLose Control,β our journey was carefully planned. From the start, we noticed that the song was resonating in various pockets of culture, creating a strong and diverse fanbase. Our digital department played a crucial role, setting the groundwork for the songβs growth; shoutout to [the divisionβs] Randall Telfer.
βWe understood that βLose Controlβ needed time to evolve before we could successfully introduce it to other formats, like adult R&B,β Chester adds. βSpecial thanks to Ron Stewart, our head of urban radio, for crafting an ideal strategy, alongside Josh Reich [pop], Rob Goldklang [rock/alternative] and Michelle Babbitt [adult]. Teddy Swims has a timeless voice that breaks boundaries, and we wanted to ensure his music reached as wide an audience as possible without being confined to a specific genre.β

^Rhythmic #13 and by Urban, you probably mean what is currently called R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, #8 to date.
