50. You Can't Change That - Raydio
Say what you want about the lyrics, but you can't deny the smoothness in Ray Parker Jr.'s vocals. He probably melted the ladies with those vocals back n the day.
49. Mama Can't Buy You Love - Elton John
Great song. One of Elton's best. Thought it would end up higher on my list, but it is what it is.
48. I Was Made For Lovin' You - KISS
My #1 was always either going to be this one, the other stuttering one , or the one that didn't even make the top 100 of 1979. Which BTW is one of the biggest mistakes Billboard ever did. 'Dynasty' had two top 50 singles. This one and another great one "Sure Know Something". This is Kiss at their most Disco, and they nailed it. Anyway, it made the top 50 so I guess PULSE is coming around? Maybe someday we get it into the top 40. Funny how it gets this funny ranking here, but I can cruise over to another forum and we all put it in the top 10. Of course we make fun of the member who puts it at #20. BTW wrip ripped a hole through my heart.
47. Renegade - Styx
Another great album Rock band. Not my fav from this band, but it rocks.
46. After The Love Has Gone - Earth, Wind & Fire
I spread out this groups singles evenly on my list. Ballads are not this groups strong point. Not very memorable at all.
45. Lotta Love - Nicolette Larson
1979 had a lot of great music. This one just misses my Top 100 for that year. Maybe if I didn't feature so many songs from The Cars 'Candy-O' it would have scored a slot, but it still good. The flute slays.
44. My Sharona - The Knack
This will always be my #2 song of 1979. Love it! Love it! Love it! is as best as I can put it. Pure New Wave hooks. Hands down one of the best guitar solos of the 70's and 80's. Guys should sing about gals , and these are my type of lyrics for a guy to sing. One of the very few times I love the #1 song of a Billboard music year. LOL! Kiss or The Knack I was always destined to lose my #1 song tonight anyway.
43. Goodnight Tonight - Wings
This would be Paul McCartney at his most Disco. Let's just say I prefer his Brit Pop gems.
42. Shake Your Groove Thing - Peaches & Herb
This is alright. Better than "Reunited". When it comes to male/female Disco duos I prefer a more something that goes with beer. The Canadian duo, Lime.
41. Take Me Home - Cher
Cher tried her luck at every music genre except Polkas didn't she? She even tried Glam Metal. I don't go back to this one often, but when I do it's a smooth groove.
By my count there are seven Rock songs left in this RD that rock format radio would play. I count Blondie because she was played on KLOS way into the 80's. A couple of POp rock wonders are still swinging as well. and of course I still have one bottom tank song that just won't die.
