Island’s Sabrina Carpenter is headed for a third week at #1 with Short n’ Sweet. Meanwhile, David Gilmour’s first album of new music in nine years, Luck and Strange (Legacy), may be the top new release as TZUYU of TWICE and Country legend George Strait look to debut in the Top 20. This is Strait’s 31st studio album.
Now, if you'll excuse us, we're on snack duty for tonight's debate.

Sabrina's album, according to HITS' YTD album chart up to last week, is already over 1.13 million SPS including prerelease activity. It will likely end up #3 in SPS for 2024 in the US, behind TTPD and OTAAT as it needs just over 480k SPS for the remainder of the year.

I love Sabrina but I would love to see Billie get out of her house and promote a bit and put up a good fight because her album I also really loved.

Is the Travis album still charting? #30 this week on the Billboard 200. He has physicals coming out so it will re-climb.

Morgan and Zach streaming is still so impressive. Sabrina just killing it! This next week should help as well especially if she has a good VMA performance

The fact Eminem's CURTAIN CALL from nearly 20 years ago is in the top 40 for the year is still so impressive. what an icon

Just found out Paris released an albuim this week! Haven't heard it but bummer it won't be anywhere near close as successful as her debut 2 decades ago lol. Would've been cool to see her debut Top 20 at least... even if she'd fall off the chart the following week anyway.

The fact Eminem's CURTAIN CALL from nearly 20 years ago is in the top 40 for the year is still so impressive. what an icon Yeah but in the streaming era I can't help but feel like Greatest Hits are just... cheating. Not a dig against Eminem, specially since, unlike The Weeknd, his project was released well before this ever became an issue. But of course an album with 20 big hits is streaming better than current albums with the one or two hit singles.

I can understand the feeling behind that, but on the other hand, this was released prior to the streaming era which makes it impressive though on another hand. It just shows how big Eminem still is ultimately

Yeah, no hate to Eminem for that, and overall impressive performance because other GH from that era don't do nearly as well. But I still think GH should be disqualified (songs should count for their parent album).

^Agreed. Eminem's GH doesn't seem to have suffered the game of musical chairs that the parent albums of Post and The Weeknd have suffered in the Billboard 200. I remember Queen also had some of that when the Bohemian Rhapsody movie came out, with the movies' soundtrack, sharing credits with two different greatest hits compilations. I wonder how RIAA handles this issue for their album certifications.

Eminem is one of the few artists to apply the SPS from his early singles from his studio albums to his greatest hits album. That's why Curtain Call is 10x Platinum. Most artists take a single's SPS and apply it to the parent studio album. Take Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On." It appears on 3 albums: Titanic Sdtk. Let's Talk About Love, studio album All The Way, greatest hits album "My Heart Will Go On" was certified 4x Platinum in 2022. The SPS was applied to the "Let's Talk About Love" album and it was re-certified 11x Platinum.

Paris was always a meme. She actually lucked out by having two really good pop bops on her first album (Stars are Blind and Nothing in this World). But there was never a big music career for her coming. The fact that she can outchart Bebe Rexha for example is impressive.

Had "Nothing In This World" been performed and released by a different popular artist it would have been a hit. Her and Lindsay Lohan are two people (moreso Lohan) who have a collection of arguably great pop songs despite being seen largely as a "joke", musically speaking.

I actually think Paris’ two singles from 2006 and among the best pop songs of their time, especially SAB.
