This rankdown has me listening to 'Desert Rose' a lot recently, particularly the remixes by Victor Calderone (mainly the Melodic Club Mix, but also the Filter Dub which interestingly only uses Cheb Mami's vocals and none of Sting's).

These are the songs that were either so good or so bad that I didn't have to click on to recall them.
40. Absolutely (Story of a Girl) - Nine Days
This was always going to be my #1 song on this list. It's pure adrenaline from start to finish. The only break you get is when the guitar solo comes around which in itself is pretty exiting. Lyrics roll off the tongue with ease...and most important it's a story about a girl. These guys wee sort of a One Hit wonder, but I kept charting songs from them like "If I Am" , "So far Away", and "Good Friend".
39. The Ground Beneath Her Feet - U2
How this beat out that mad excitement from Nine Days is beyond me. For me this is probably the most boring song U2 has ever released as a single.
37. Deep Inside of You - Third Eye Blind
This band, Nine Days, Stroke 9 and Matchbox Twenty were my AAA banner bands. The mid guitar hook from this song reminds me so much of "In The City" from Joe Walsh. Also was the song for end credits for 1979 'The Warriors'.
35. Secret of the Sea - Billy Bragg &
Pretty nice for a first time listen. Reminded me of Beatles Folk music style. If there are more than one guy singing they did a great synch job with each other.
34. The Carpet Crawlers 1999 - Genesis
Sounded like a song to trip out to. A very weird experience I really didn't enjoy at all.
33. Sleepwalker - The Wallflowers
Jr. here has such great vocals it's a shame he didn't continue at least as lead singer for another band.
32. Next Year - Foo Fighters
Didn't know this was a AAA hit. I knew it from Alt and Rock. What can one say, but Foo Fighters rock on.
31. Telling Stories - Tracy Chapman
Truth be told I find the more electric guitar sounding songs from Tracy Chapman to not sound too terrible.
30. Save Me - Aimee Mann
These two songs fell around the same tier for me. The chorus reeled me in.
29. Barrel of a Gun - Guster
One of the best Guster songs I've heard. Great guitar works.
27. Desert Rose - Sting
I was never a fan of this EDM style. I might have given Madonna a couple free passes, but not Sting.
26. Babylon - David Gray
Me giving this the lowest rank is about as truthful as this RD can get. Total tune out for me.
extras:
out of No Doubt. Creed and Beck I would put "Sexxlaws" way up there. I just really dig that groove. All great songs by the way.
