When I was a kid, I loved looking at the "Hits of the World" section of Billboard Magazine. It was cool to see the domination of American songs on the global charts.
Things have changed quite a bit now, since music from every country can be a hit in any other country, thanks to the internet, YouTube, TikTok, and to the global streaming services.
One country in particular, Singapore, was fascinating. Singapore is like no other country in the world. It truly is a manifestation of East meets West.
The Top 100 Songs - 2023 Year-End chart shows this interesting blend of East meets West. I pretty much recognized every song on the chart except the Chinese songs.
Interesting that some American songs did better in Singapore than in the US.
Examples:
#12 - JVKE - "Golden Hour" #21 - Sabrina Carpenter - "Nonsense"
