Click here for Miami ratings. Then scroll down to WPYM. It's nothing personal. I like the station too; they just aren't that popular overall.

The former dance station Party 92.7 in San Francisco was formatted in the similar vein as this station. Unfortunately, the one in San Francisco didn't survive to see it's 2nd birthday. They pulled the plug just 4 weeks before it would have completed 2 years. :'(

Party launched on December 31, 2001. As much as I like the station concept, they still have songs from the original 12/31/01 playlist in regular rotation. Need more new music!

I was listening to them recently and they were jockless overnights. They've always been jockless. They have DJs who broadcast live from clubs every so often, but that's about it.

"jockless" means no DJs. Party sometimes has people call in and act as DJs (like, "this is Kylie Minogue, 'Can't Get You Out of My Head'. I love this song! Party 93.1, where dance music lives!) and yeah, they have DJs that do live club remotes. they still haven't added regular DJs at all.

they need more music, but the record companies don't give them anything to work with because they think people only listen to Hip-Hop. I think that station needs to get in contact with Ultra Records and maybe get ahold of some imported singles to update their playlist a little better.

Can the station survive the way it is now? If so, for how long?
When Party 92.7 in SF was on its last legs, they played the same 240 songs in a different order, without commercials for almost 5 and a half months. Then during its final week on the air, they added all these hot new songs. As soon as they created the false hope that the station was coming back, they pulled the plug and a short-lived hip hop station came along to take its place. Dance music was back again less than 6 months later!
Now I can't say that Party 93.1 in Florida will end up the same way, but the best thing is to fix it before it gets to that point.

i dont think that will happen 2 93.1 South Florida was in need of a dance station a long time ago!!!If it does there will probably be another one 2 replace it.. But i'm sure they r satisfied w/wat they have.. South Florida has many dance fans n it was about time they got a dance station..
Many of the songs they play r old but u cant hate on old songs.. Plus its people that request them like krazy by calling or online.. Thats y AS THE RUSH COMES still gets played a lot.. I dont want them 2 get rid of old songs cause they bring me back many memories, however i think they should add new songs.. The problem is that they try a new track like "LOLAS THEME" n that was only played 4 like 1 month so i guess people werent requesting it..

Even though Party may have low ratings, if they're are pulling in the kind of revenue that they need to stay afloat, then overall ratings don't really matter. Dance music listeners tend to be more upscale, so that makes it more attractive to advertisers.
Even if a lot of people are listening to Party, what's most important is the time spent listening (TSL). If they're only listening for, say, five minutes out of a 30-minute time span, it's not gonna get you a lot of ratings.

We have needed one since Michael Yo came to Y100 and went the HipHop route (since then Y's ratings have tanked). Y use to always play dance music, especially at night.

I've heard that Party's ratings have actually improved since they modified their music mix to be a bit more towards the old-school & freestyle side of things. Although I still see some new stuff - they're playing the Nevins remix of Since U Been Gone!
Y100 still plays a mild amount of dance music; i've heard Heaven, Just The Way You Are and Something in the past few days. And last year they played that Livin' On a Prayer remake. But like most CHR/Pop stations, they've largely abandoned it.

If the song gets pretty popular on Party, Y100 will put it in medium rotation. Unfortunately, the new dance songs on Y100 are few and far between.

I hate breaking the bad news, but Party 93.1 as of today after the 5pm traffic jam, they chaged there format to Rock. No more dance music on the radio in south Florida, Doesn't that just suck. I could not believe my ears, So I e-mailed them and they told me, they just flipped their format. COMPLAIN......Adam

RIP. is there anywhere in America where a dance format could work? granted, Party kept playing mostly the same songs and had no personalization or personality mostly. wonder why they switched it, b/c Zeta was getting even worse ratings, with somewhat less appealing (i.e. not as affluent and willing to spend $$$) demos. there is already imaging, so i'm thinking that this was in the offing even before Zeta flipped.
will this cause Y100 to lean more dance? they really seemed to let go of it somewhat when Party signed on air.

I also forgot to mention, now that Party 93.1 is gone, I wonder if the Djs that worked for Power 96 in the past and moved on to party 93.1 will go back to Power 96. Also I wonder if Power 96 will go back to playing music for everyone, such as disco, freestyle, retro, and new dance music. Seems like rap, and R&B has takin over. Thats all we need is more rap stations. I liked rap music when it wasen't Power 96's only format. Party 93.1 should have mixed a little rap hiphop like how Power 96 use to do it.....

Power 96 went stictly rap format when Party 93.1 came on the air. Power 96 use to mix alot of dance, freestlye at night in sets, and not mixing the old with the new like Party 93.1 did. Freestlye does not go good with house or Trance. Yes you are right they did not have a personality. The only time I really liked to listen to them, was in their live broadcasts at night from Voodoo Lounge Etc. and get really into the underground tribal house.

But then again, many format flips aren't meant to be seen coming. Who would've guessed WHFS in Washington-Baltimore would've changed to Spanish after being a rock station 35 years. One day it's here, the next day it's gone.

On radio-info it was posted that EMF: "Unbelieveable" was the last song Party played. Cox has now gotten rid of dance stations in San Antonio (to CHR-Pop), Orlando (to CHR-Rhythmic without dance), and Miami.
