I like it a lot too. It's familiar and refreshing at the same time. Very Weezer.

Since there's been problems, I uploaded the file myself:

Although right now, the other link's working good.

I was hoping for better. I like "Hash Pipe" and "Dope Nose" markedly more than "Beverly Hills" upon its initial impression.

Kinda disappointed by this after two listens. It sounds almost nothing like Weezer. Both lyrically and musically, it's just a step above Good Charlotte. And that's not good, especially compared to what Weezer has done in the past.
It'll grow on me with a few more listens, but only because I will have given it the benefit of a doubt considering its Weezer. If this song came from Good Charlotte or Simple Plan, I'd listen to it once and never again.

I don't love this as much as previous stuff. LOL at the Pitchfork review. It's funny because it's true:

Yeah, this has been kinda underwhelming lately. I mean, it's not terrible. It's just not up to par with their other stuff, like others have said.

Maybe it'll be a hit on this format.

The video's debuting Tuesday on MTV2. I heard they filmed it at the Playboy Mansion, so hopefully the video will at least provide some decent eye candy.

This song is not going to go Top 5.
I predict a #8-#10 peak.

I'd say no. 3-4. It will do way better than Be Yourself in the long run.

It will undoubtably make the top 5.
This is not as good as any previous Weezer single that I'm aware of, at least not yet it is.

Weezer Not Exactly In Their Element At Playboy Mansion 'Beverly Hills' video's location was director's idea, not band's. When we last left the guys in Weezer, they were busy releasing dates for their upcoming spring tour and frolicking around the Playboy Mansion in the video for "Beverly Hills," the first single from their upcoming album Make Believe (although not at the same time). And now there's even more Weezerian info to report, starting with a behind-the-scenes peek into the making of "Beverly Hills" (see "Weezer Party At Playboy Mansion For 'Beverly Hills' Video"). A representative at Geffen Records slipped MTV News some exclusive footage of the clip, including scenes of Weez fans rocking out on the mansion's front lawn, grotto and arcade, as well as engaging in a spirited games of barefoot soccer and Twister with a bevy of Playmates. There are also about a million instances of kids throwing the "W" sign into the air like (you guessed it) they just don't care. There's also footage of Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo jamming out on a Steve-Miller-esque guitar solo and looking just a bit uncomfortable as Playmates cavort around him in the mansion's grotto. And he wasn't the only one who felt a bit out of place: Drummer Pat Wilson seemed a little less than psyched to be in attendance, as he explained the concept behind the clip. "We told [director] Marcos Siega that we need a video — again," he sighed. "And he was like, 'All right, 'Beverly Hills': Let's go to the mansion, and we'll bus in a bunch of Weezer kids. And we won't tell them they're coming up here.'" Hopefully he's a bit more jazzed about the news that the titles of three other Make Believe tracks have been revealed in a press release from Geffen. The songs are "We Are All on Drugs" (probably the second single), "This Is Such a Pity" and "Peace." But don't tattoo those titles onto your anatomy just yet. Camp Weezer offers this caveat: Several tracks on the album are still in the mixing stage, and a final track list has yet to be determined, though it is said to be very close to completion. www.vh1.com/news/articles/1498989/20050324/weezer.jhtml?headlines=true

Is anyone else here shocked by the immediate success of this single?
Their last album "Maladroit" faded pretty quickly after a strong debut, and though they did get two Top 15 hits from that album, both faded pretty quickly in sharp contrast to the releases except for "Photograph" from "The Green Album".
Green Day's latest smash success may help explain a little about the push here, since they share that sort of pop-friendly idiosyncrasy. Alternative as of late has been trending more toward their 80's/90's roots than Active Rock lately, where Alternative was leaning more toward the latter the few preceding years.
In any case, I thought this would get lost in the shuffle with all the other titan debuts. This is shaping to be their biggest hit since "Hash Pipe". As far as peak position is concerned, it pretty much already is, but longevity will prove if it runs superior to "Island In The Sun" or not.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

The video is premiering all day today on MTV2. The intro is hilarious: Hef calls Pat.Pat (pretending to smoke a pipe): "Hello?" Hef: "Pat, it's Hef. I hear Weezer's got a new record coming out." Pat: "That's true..." Hef: "I was wondering if you'd come over and play it for the girls." Pat: "That sounds fine. Mind if I bring along some friends?" Hef: "Whatever you want...Just don't bring a lot of dudes." (Pat is priceless when he says "That's true." He couldn't nail such a perfect/amusing inflection again if he tried.)

I see that it has a strong debut, but I still really think that it won't have much staying power.

The clip of "We Are All On Drugs" from Making of The Video is AMAZING. I can't wait to hear it...very Pinkerton meets Green.

This will probably become their biggest hit on the Hot 100 upon it's debut next week. Their highest peak is #57 with "The Sweater Song".

It's obviously a joke song, and it seves it's purpose well. Still, I'm sure I'll be skipping this when I get the record.. I've been told that the record is very 'deep,' sort of reminiscent of Pinkerton... so I guess this is the "El Scorcho." Only, it's nowhere as good as "El Scorcho," but I digress. nothing will ever be as good as Él Scorcho', but 'Hash Pipe'was pretty close.
