This has been played as the new White Stripes single on Sirius' Alt Nation, although it kind of seems early for a second single to be released.

Technically speaking, this would already be their third single because they've released Forever For Her on Triple A stations.
I really like this.
This or Denial Twist would be excellent single choices.

Really? So they've already released something for Triple A stations...I didn't know that.

Actually this is the second single at both Alternative and Triple A. "Forever For Her" was pulled.

Stupid decision. Forever For Her is one of my favorite Stripes songs ever. Should have gone to both formats. My Doorbell is annoying.

I'm surprised they are releasing this as a second single, or as a single at all.
Upon first listen, I was impressed because it was the White Stripes sound, but it wouldn't make a good single choice at all. I'm predicting a peak of around #21 or so because it is the White Stripes.
However, I haven't listened the album in it's entirety. I've heard this one, "Blue Orchid", "Forever For Her", and "Denial Twist" and that is it. They should have released "Denial Twist". This was a bad decision, and hopefully they will pull it and release something better, because it is a brilliant album from what I have heard and what I have heard of.

From what I hear, many of the critics mention this and "Blue Orchid" as the "highlights" of the album.
Either way, it's pulling high requests at Alt Nation, and although annoying, it is infectious.

I actually think this is a great choice for second single. Most of the album just isn't radio-friendly. Besides, this reminds me of "The Air Near My Fingers", which I always thought should've been a single from Elephant.

I was going for "The Denial Twist", but this would be good too. I don't know if "Forever" is very radio friendly, although it's one of my favorites from the new album.
I think that if any song on there is annoying, it's "The Nurse".

Geez, this sounds even more esoteric than "Blue Orchid". And I think "Blue Orchid" really isn't that much different than any of their other stuff, once you listen to it enough. Perhaps that will be the case here, but I'm not feelin' it yet.
It'll probably take another great video from them to get my mind around this, since that's exactly what happened with "Blue Orchid". Those absurdly high heels are what make that video for me, in my opinion.

I heard about 30 seconds of this and I didn't like it at all.

I like it a lot now, too. I'm hoping Forever is the third single...

It's baffling how "Blue Orchid" disappeared so quick and now this single is struggling to dig into the Top 20 deeper.
"Blue Orchid" truly wasn't that much different from "Seven Nation Army", in the way that it had a driving riff all throughout the song. It sounded like a sure #1 to me every listen.
The album isn't flopping either.
Could the comeback of the 90's (the 80's somewhat too) be putting them somewhat in the background?
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I've never really been a big fan of the White Stripes, but these past two singles somehow have grown on me easily.

It seems awkward, but then again, "Speed of Sound" did better than "Blue Orchid" on Alternative whenever two years ago it wouldn't have been that way at all. I thought that the music video would have kept it around a little bit longer. And there's nothing wrong with the choice of "My Doorbell", either. I don't know why it's struggling to hit the Top 20. With QOTSA, it was choosing the "wrong" second single and with the Mars Volta, the flop was because they had already released their only appropriate release for radio on the entire album. I still don't think they'll be one-hit wonders; I think they've still got a career going for them. This seems like Top 10 single material to me. Not to mention the undeserving lack of success from *good* British artist with single-worthy material like Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party.

This song annoys me like few songs have ever managed to annoy me before.

It's not rocket science, folks. People have figured out what the deal is with this band and aren't falling for the hype anymore.
The White Stripes still have their fans who keep buying their records, and probably always will, but now with Creed out of the picture, there is no better example of a love/hate affair among alternative listeners than the Stripes right now. And the haters are the ones that speak the loudest.
Having said that, I'm becoming kind of cool with this song, although I still like it less than any other single of theirs except for "Blue Orchid", which was catchy, but obnoxiously so.

LOL. But the White Stripes backlash was very quiet compared to Creed. I'm not saying that there wasn't any, but I know that there are more people I know personally who like the White Stripes than don't, by far. I think I've heard less people they suck than the so-called contemporaries of their style.

Really? I mean, around here, if I'm not all alone, and any given The White Stripes song comes on the radio, there is about a 0% chance of me getting the chance to hear the song in its entirety because they are passionately hated by anyone I know who remotely follows modern rock music, and for everyone else, their music is just considered "noise" and they'll hate it too. And I'm only an hour away from the Detroit scene that they're a part of.
It just seems to me like this huge far cry from when people would be so impressed by the quirkiness of "Fell In Love With A Girl", or the deep romaticism of "Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground".

It wasn't so much that "In My Head" was the wrong choice for a second single (and "Burn The Witch" would have made the best follow-up) that hurt the single so much for Queens Of The Stone Age than the fact the album has just been a huge flop commerically (has it even sold 200,000 yet?)
There is a lot of talk of The White Stripes being overrated out there, but to compare this backlash to that of Creed is irrelevant.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This is kind of funny--the only critically acclaimed band of the past 5 years that I can stand are The White Stripes. Bands like The Strokes are absolutely horrid to me.

Hmmm....around my parts, the White Stripes are pretty well-liked. Now, I have heard some backlash against the new album, but most of the modern rock fans I know are at least still fans of the old stuff.

Yeah, it's beginning to finally grow on me a little bit. I still and will always disagree with the decision for this to be the second single, but I'll accept it coming from the White Stripes.

The British don't seem as doubtful and reticent as we do as it debuts at #10 in the UK.
