Opinions on the Madonna/Britney Spears seem to be pretty split on this board. As for your personal charts, how well do you expect MATM to do?
For me, Madonna has hit #1 14 times. She has also debuted at #1 ("Into The Groove") and #2 ("Vogue").
Britney Spears has yet to have a Top 5 single on my chart, but I think MATM could end that.
I'm looking for a high debut on my next chart, most likely within the Top 10.

#1 obviously on my chart... will make a top 2 debut on my chart for room for Stacie Orrico to make #1 though :)

The live version has been on my chart for 3 weeks so far... with the release of the studio version, it should give her a big boost into my top 40 next week.
Projected chart run: 82 66 61 34 27 21 14 12 9 6 6 8 13 19 26 37 42 53 67
Peak position: #6 Weeks in top 100: 19 Weeks in top 40: 13 Weeks in top 10: 4 2003 year-end projection: #87

Most likely to have a big debut on the chart. All of her other songs were hits on my chart. Should last for awhile on the chart.
Predictions: Debut-#1 Year End Chart-#30s Peak-6 Weeks @ 1 Weeks on chart-25

My top 5, for the first time in months, is about to become female dominated. Sarah McLachlan just took #1 this week. Sheryl Crow is in the top 5. And MATM will be in the top 5... soon. Britney has one #1 song with "Baby One More Time." Madonna has seven. I think the song is great. So, yeah. Big hit.

I remember from your year end charts one of those hit #1...

Actually, "Oops" is on my 100 biggest hits of all-time, but it never reached #1. Close though. That's really awesome that you remember that. I have an avid reader! :)

It will not chart, and if it does for some odd reason, it won't make it out of the 40-50 region.

Britney has yet to hit my chart (it started in January '01, had I had it in '99 she would have had 3 top 10's but no #1's).
Madonna has had 3 #1's on my chart (she would have had more had I started my chart earlier).
My first time hearing MATM I didnt like it. I was "planning" on liking it before I heard it, if you know what I mean? But I didn't.... maybe it'll grow on me but even if it does, Top 10 is extremely unlikely.

I don't chart messes masquerading as songs, so guess where it'll land on my chart.

Definite Top 20, if it continues to grow on me as it has been, it could make Top 10.

Britney has done surprisingly well on my chart with maybe 6 or 7 Top 10 hits but I haven't heard this one yet. Based on people's comments, it'll probably pull an 'American Life' but at the same time, it could pull a 'Dirrty'. Meaning it won't go Top 60 or it could hit #2. Madonna had a few #1s on my chart and has done quite well since 98 so if she didn't make it high on my chart, it would be another disappointment for her.

I don't think this one will chart.
Here is how her first singles have performed on my chart:
Baby One More Time - #5 Oops... I Did it Again - #8 I'm a Slave 4 U - #24
As you can see it gets worse with each one.

Will not chart. Especially since I don't plan on ever hearing it.

Top 5 is very likely, at the very moment. It'll probably stay on my personal chart for no longer than 10 weeks; which is pretty abysmal. Then again, I could be wrong.

The song debuted at #11 this week, which is insanely high considering it's a top 20. I think only about five other songs have debuted higher this year.

Well, first, I'll overview Britney and Madonna's chart histories separately.
In '02, "Die Another Day" made the top twenty, not bad for a song that sounded like Euro-Crap. "American Life" was horrible, and didn't make it past about #8 on my Bubbling Unders (songs below the top forty). "Hollywood" did only slightly better, making it to about #5 on Bubbling Unders.
In '01, "I'm a Slave 4 U" made it to #9 out of my then top fifty. I hate the song now, and regret the fact that it got that high. "I'm Not a Girl..." made it to #32 (also to my regret). "Overprotected" went to #47 and "Boys spent one week on, at #50. All those songs charted before my countdown became a top forty.
My outlook on Me Against the Music? Well, I've heard the song, and it sucks (pardon my French ;)). I don't expect it to make Bubbling Under, let alone to chart. But, if it does make the top forty (still, I doubt it), I don't expect it to get higher than #38, and I don't expect it to spend more than two weeks on.
The lyrics are horrible, poorly written. The beat is horrible. If Britney was aiming at a techno or a dance song, she failed miserable. I can't dance well at all, but if I could, I don't think I could dance to this song anyway. And Madonna's only there to whore herself and get her name on a song. She doesn't contribute anything to the song.

It'll be a top 10 hit on my chart. Top 5 isn't out of the question.
