#2 "When I'm Gone," 3 Doors Down Peak: #2 WOC: 32 Spins: 111773 That's right - unlike on R&R, this is NOT #1 for 2003. That is next.

#1 "Unwell," Matchbox Twenty Peak: #2 WOC: 37 Spins: 124107 Unforeseen longevity helped this best everyone else for #1 for the year 2003. (When I say unforeseen longevity, I'm not kidding - like "My Love is Like...Wo", this is STILL getting spins below the chart!) Well, that about wraps it up for the AC Top 103 of 2003 Countdown. See you in 2004!

Now what exactly is this chart based on again? You said it was the CHR/Pop chart and the Billboard Hot 100, but how do you get spins out of the Hot 100?

When I said "(actually points, but spins sounds better)" at the start of Part One, I wasn't kidding. Truth is, this is an inverse-based chart.
Explanation, with example:
The amount of points a song receives depends on where it's at on the two charts. (#50=1, #49=2, etc.) If it's only on one of the two, the amount is cut in half. (#50=0.5, #49=1, etc.) If it's on both, points for that song from each chart are totalled, then averaged. Then for the next week, first the points that song would received are figured, then averaged with the previous week's to figure the points for this week.
Say a song debuts at 43 on Pop and hasn't made the Hot 100 yet. That song will receive (8+0)/2=4 points on the chart that week. Say the next week it rises 43-35 on Pop and still hasn't made Billboard. The song will receive (16+0)/2=8; 8+4=12/2=6 points for Week 2. Say the third week it rises 35-28 on Pop and makes Billboard's Top 50 - coming in at 48. The song will receive (23+3)/2=13; (13+6)/2=9.5 points for Week 3.
When a song no longer shows up on either chart, its points from the previous week are cut in half (since it IS being averaged with ZERO), then, if it has enough to still be in the Top 50, it remains on. Otherwise, it's removed instantly. If ever a song would re-enter anywhere (either below the chart or the Top 50, it doesn't matter), its points for the week are averaged with zero. (Or, if it recently was removed, then its points are averaged with however many it have if it were eligible to be listed in the Bubbling Under section)
Points are rounded down to two decimal places.
The reason for averaging with the previous week's points for weeks after the first is to reflect its passing through time.
Since I prefer to go by spins, simply multiply by 100 to figure spins.
