i have a question...
i have a country chart, a pop chart, and a christian chart. i have been regularly posting my country chart but would also like to know if i can post my pop chart as well. is it possible for me to do that or would that be against the rules?
i would just like to have a little more say in the Pulse 100 because there are not many country posters here so there are very few country songs on the pulse 100

I'd think not. If I were in your position, I'd just combine the two or three. Like: 1. #1 Country song 2. #1 Pop song 3. #2 Country song 4. #2 Pop song etc... Or if you wanted all three 1. #1 Country 2. #1 Pop 3. #1 Christian 4. #2 Country etc... (Actually, I'd just monitor my plays into a points system like I already do, but this way seems easiest. )

I started making personal charts like three months ago but i have never posted them, I want to start now but I just wanted to ask something... is it allowed to post my chart as a picture? (like take a cap or something...) or is it better to type it within the post?

(like take a cap or something...) or is it better to type it within the post? As long as it can be read, it can be a picture. Just post it in the appropriate thread and it will be counted for the Pulse 100. For example, if your chart is dated March 8 you would post it in this thread pulsemusic.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=personal&action=display&thread=57500Which is Personal Charts: 3-3-08 thru 3-9-08. You can post your older charts for those weeks in which I have not yet compiled the Pulse 100. I am currently working on the above thread, so you can start there. Welcome

I am new here ;)
Question about the songs you can include in your chart: Can you also include old songs? Like from 3~5 years ago? You said you include the songs you like currently(not only singles) but does this mean you could include songs even older than a decade?
I have been doing this chart stuff for a year now (weekly) and more than half of the songs that chart are "old" singles that I get to "discover" now. For example, some hit songs from the past might chart in my personal chart in the future, just because I have first heard it then and never before.
This is probably because I have been living under a rock, away from the mainstream music my whole life. Basically every artist I will chart will be artists that I have got to know of very recently, within a year. I know my chart will look dumb, but I am also being aware of new singles/releases to chart.
So.. can I chart older stuff? or no?

i thought you could, but your chart would not influence the Pulse 100 as much.
you better wait until bldfguy1 answers though.

You can include any song you like. It's your personal chart...lol. True it won't impact the Pulse 100 as much but it doesn't make the chart any less valid. If it reflects your favorite songs, it works. Some people have rules about which songs can chart, for how long etc. and that is entirely up to them and you. The beauty of it is that it is your chart..lol I hope this helps. Welcome!

I'd Like to only do a chart once a month...It works better with my system..Is that okay?? Well, for Pulse 100 purposes that wouldn't work. You get dropped on the third week of not submitting a chart. You could still post it, I just can't really count it. Could you maybe do a chart every other week? That would keep you in the Pulse 100. Again, you could still post it as I know I like to see everyone else's chart regardless of whether it gets counted anywhere else. Hope this helps.

Hey, I post my chart every week, and I was wondering if at the end of the year, do u do a top 100 songs of the year or a special year end edition? Thanks I'm doing one this year. I wanted to do it last year but it was just too daunting to put it all together at the end of the year when I was having a hard time just compiling the Pulse 100. This year I got a little smarter (just a little ) and am updating it weekly as I go along. My plan is to start a countdown around January 7th and maybe post 10 a day with the chart run and any interesting chart facts about each song.

Right, so will there be a top 100 of 2008? I know it's March, but the Pulse 100 is through February now.

I have compliled my own Top 100 singles chart since 1987, and it's been a lot of fun, so I think I will also post it here someday next week.

So, I want to make sure I have this right. At the end of this week, I would put my chart for the week in the 1/25-1/31 thread, right?

Correct. Some people date their charts for the week that passed, some others for the week that's coming up. It really depends on what you make as your chart date. My chart dates are always on the week ending Sunday, so this week my chart would go into the 1/25-1/31 thread. Hope this helps.

On the Pulse 100, does the column RP stand for the reporters with that song on their chart and does MX stand for the leaders or co-leader of the song (like they have the highest peaking of that particular song on their chart)? Thanks

^ Haha thanks! And does the MX show the current week's co-leader/leader's position of that song or the peak position the song has ever got on any reporter's chart?

I have a question. Is there a program better than Windows Movie Maker to create countdown videos that can be posted on YouTube? Thanks a lot. :) There are tons of video making programs out there, but most of them you have to pay for. Movie Maker is the only common free one that I know of. But if you're definitely wanting to try another, there's Avid FreeDV: www.avid.com/freedv/

Is there a way to do the chart on a spreadsheet and cut and paste onto your thread? Or will that not work?
I got OpenOffice Calc, Excel, and Google Sheets.

Are you talking like, say, I do with my chart? I use Excel, then screenshot the chart and host the images on Photobucket. (2 screencaps per chart; 1 isn't enough to cover the whole.) That's just one way to do it though. For Google Sheets...would the Google+ embed work?

Is there a way to do the chart on a spreadsheet and cut and paste onto your thread? Or will that not work? I got OpenOffice Calc, Excel, and Google Sheets. This may be different for you, but Excel is like my best friend when it comes to making and keeping track of my charts. Here is how you would get it on your thread like how I have it: -First, you should probably make an account on imgur.com; it doesn't take long -Select all the cells that have your chart information, including the LW, Peak, Weeks On chart, and so on. (I prefer not to have any extra cells included on the outside of my chart. Look at the picture below to see what I mean) -So, after you selected each of the cells, either Right Click and Press Copy or Just Ctrl + C (whatever you like to do) -Then go on imgur.com | Click upload images | Then press Ctrl + V -Then click on start upload -After it's done (it doesn't take long at all), right click on the picture you uploaded. Click on "Copy Image Address" -Then go in your thread and press reply. Look for this picture up where you would find the text options (Bold, Italic, Underline...) -Click on that and then paste your link into the "Image URL" box. Done It may seem like alot of work, but really it isn't. This is a really great way to keep track of your chart. Hope this helps! :)

How do you calculate this chart? Actually, not everyone calculates their personal charts. Here are some examples of how people make their personal charts: Some just list their what their favorite songs of the week were (or whatever song the liked the most in the week) Some use a point system (Example, @markg94 's daily point system: pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/5639522/thread ) Or some just list their most played songs of the week (most likely using their last.fm stats) There are most likely more ways people do it on the forum, but those are just the main ones. I hope this gives you an idea on how you wanna do your personal chart!
