yeah, but I remember by the '04 year end charts she hadn't. Clay Aiken's Christmas album sold more, and Ciara's was out two months longer with exponentially more radio play, after "Goodies" had been #1 on the Hot 100 for 8 weeks and "1 2 Step" was already hot. that's just sad. but IMO Cabrera's sales are even more pathetic. Barely 600K?
"I Don't Want To Be" hasn't really helped Gavin DeGraw's sales all that much (although it may have pushed it to Gold finally), but I bought his album off the back of that one song and I don't regret it.

Anything that Ryan Cabrera has released certainly isn't helping his album sales. I wouldn't be surprised if Jesse McCartney outsells him with just ONE hit single when its all said and done. It's ridiculous.
Ryan hasn't even hit 700K with two hit singles!! Take It All Away is actually a good album and deserves to go Platinum. But it doesn't look like that is going to happen, atleast not sales-wise.

it sucks that Ryan isn't doing that well, his album is so good, if only everyone knew it, and the worst part is his (awful) g/f can sell records when she can't even sing.

I think that one of the major reasons Ryan isn't selling better is that he's mainly known as Ashlee Simpson's boy toy. Until I heard True, my thoughts on him could be summed up as follows: "He's only famous because he's dating Ashlee, and she sucks, so he's probably even worse" IMO, Ryan needs to do more TV performances of his hit songs, so the general public stops thinking of him as riding the coattails of one of the least talented celebrities in existence and starts thinking of him as the guy that sings that song they really like.

My words of wisdom: people under 25 are barely buying albums nowadays.

that's true as far as a HUGE #1 like that should be on a multi-platinum album. but if that song hadn't been such a huge hit, he would've only sold like 300,000 by this point

I just hope Ryan will sell more than 1 million and Gavin will sell more than 500k. They both really deserve success.

My words of wisdom: people under 25 are barely buying albums nowadays. sad, but true, not in my case, I do buy CD's. & lots of them, I think d/l'ing songs is just not right, the artist, writer, producer, etc had to work hard on it just so you could freely d/l it? I think that's unfair. The only time I'll ever d/l music is for home-made remixes, unreleased material, and Live/Music Videos.

In fact, there are some CDs I bought back in high school even though I knew I would probably only like a couple of songs on them because I felt guilty that all of my friends were downloading illegally and I wanted to do my part to counterbalance them.

In fact, there are some CDs I bought back in high school even though I knew I would probably only like a couple of songs on them because I felt guilty that all of my friends were downloading illegally and I wanted to do my part to counterbalance them. Well, there's I-Tunes now and other download services that allow you to only buy the songs you really like, and not the entire album. In some ways, that was the point of my "words of wisdom" post. Young people are naturally readier to accept the changes in the music world. That also means accepting Ipods or the fact that music doesn't have to have a "physical" presence anymore. And, of course, the fact that they're the age group with less economical power, which makes the purchase of music - or any cultural product whatsoever - a way more careful thing. So it's not surprising to see this singles resurge of late, because of the digital revolution.

I think its going to be a singles market once again. It may take 20 or 30 years but it looks as though downloadable singles are the way to go these days. I think you can save alot on distribution this way. Now if they could figure out other ways to control the situation of people downloading illegally.

I gotta admit that I used to take advantage and enjoy downloading songs illegally when NAPSTER was free. Man, it was such an amazing time. You could be in a chat room, messing around with a few morons, all the while downloading ANY song you wanted, with your choice of quality.
The only thing I don't miss about NAPSTER is the "File transfer errors" I'd get when someone would log off while I was downloading.
It was a great time. A really great time.

Now, you get all this spyware, pop-ups and crap. Besides, I've grown a few years from then and now it's not as fun as it used to be. lol.

Blink 182 - "Stay Together For The Kids"
Not sure it was a hit, but I think it hit the top 10. It's my favourite song by them, and you never even hear it.

I liked them all, not enough to get the album but I did like them..I now just heard of this song you speak, did it even get a video?
