Which one of these rappers do you believe could be the next one to be the King/Queen of Rap & rule the throne?:
Eminem 50 Cent Missy Elliott Ludacris Other (Name & reason please)
I've read several articles that have stated that Andre 3000 is becoming bored w/ Rap and hopes to pursue an acting career, and everyone knows that he is the major creative force that has made Outkast as successful as it currently is. As for Jay-Z, I've heard rumors on other music sites that he might be coming back, and that the whole "Jay-Z is retiring thing" and his death in the video for "99 Problems" was supposed to symbolize his death as Jay-Z and his "re-birth" as S. Carter. However, if Jay-Z does lay low for at least a few years, it'll leave the throne to Rap open for the taking. I know many will choose 50 Cent b/c of his 03 & 04 success, but I'm waiting for his second album to see if he can prove he actually deserves the title. Eminem would be an obvious choice, his albums are acclaimed, commercially successful, he has a wealthy label, and much more now and on the horizon, but w/ him always in the studio, will his rhymes and beats still be as hot for his fourth major label album? Missy Elliott is one of the most sought after producers in the industry, is innovative & acclaimed, and has sold millions w/ her unique videos and style in general, but w/ her rushed fifth album This Is Not A Test & sluggish sales, can she come back w/ something hot and still help Tweet succeed too along w/ her label, The Gold Mind? As for Ludacris, his singles are usually club hits and his albums are always hits on the charts, but can he raise his sales that much more w/ more hits and relevance w/ side projects to make him a major threat and competition to the likes of 50 Cent, etc.? What do you think?
>Also, I know that Eminem does dominate Rap, but with him constantly in the studio, it could leave the throne open. Your opinion?

That's a tough question, but I believe that in the end Missy Elliott will become the reigning queen of Rap, she's a hot producer, her sales are usually steady, except for her latest album, This Is Not A Test!, which was a bomb, would have been worse if not for her second single. She'll come back strong though.

Eminem doesn't have enough of the Urban music community behind him for him to be a "King of Rap"... I guess it would have to be someone like a Jay Z or NAS.

I was surprised when I heard the rumor that Jay-Z could be coming back, yet merely under a different name. Was anyone else annoyed by this, or was it just me? What about Kanye West and The College Dropout, I think he definetely has potential, after all the album is critically acclaimed and has been certified 2X Platinum, maybe in several years.

Wasn't This Is Not A Test! Missy's final album or no? I recall hearing something like that but I don't remember totally.
I'll say 50 Cent and the G-Unit crew for now. Let's not forget Dr. Dre is coming back with an album soon, though I don't think he'll have 50 Cent-like numbers, but for sure he'll do well. Kanye West, I guess... but I think the hype will start to die down a bit.

I think it would have made some major headlines if it was her final album. Or she would have at least announced it.

Obviously Ja Rule. "R.U.L.E."! Certainly not. Ja Rule really isn't seen as a rapper, but more of a mainstream figure. His endless duets with Ashanti show some of that. Also, when dueling with 50 Cent, it has costed him much of his fanbase, as he failed to compare to 50 Cent as 50 really has evolved from the ganster life and Ja Rule didn't and pretended he was. 50 Cent overwhelmed Ja Rule in their fued. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Kanye West. Though his songs do have some vulgarities, its more family-friendly than most other stuff that passes for rap these days.

"This Is Not A Test" WAS supposed to be Missy's last album. We'll see if there's any truth to that in a few years.

I don't think she would end her recording career on such a poor note.

I would guess and hope that the best days for all of them are over. Not that they'll suddenly disappear all of a sudden, especially Eminem. On the other hand, I'd guess that the best days are yet ahead for the demon of most of the board members: Lil' Jon. Let's see...

ROTFL! Ugh, I forgot about him, he is a sought after producer now and his album is Platinum, I see him as a mere flavor of the month.

Wasn't the question about who will rule next? Because all the rappers named before clearly had/are having the peak of their careers behind them. So right now I'm rooting for these:

Britney Spears! I heard she rapped in "Brave New Girl"! She said she just had to rap in it because she was feelin' it!
How about Monica? She scored a #1 rappin' smash with "So Gone" and the Top shop hit "Knock Knock"!
