Ditto Whoa Nelly, Autobiography, and Let Go. Even though Metamorphosis is lots of filler, I listened to it the whole way through obessively for a while after it came out.
Tasty actually disappointed me.

Yes, BLEED AMERICAN from Jimmy Eat World is a great cd, and greater than what I expected it to be. I'm still irritated that they made it self titled when they already have a self titled album. I consider myself lucky as far as picking it up while it was still known as Bleed American and retailers were selling it as such. I was also pleasantly surprised at how much ass Clarity kicks. I'd say between Clarity and Bleed American, Clarity is the better cd. I agree with you on all points except the last one. (I bought BA a week-plus before 9/11.) I was disappointed by Clarity, having heard it over a year later. There weren't any obvious hooks on most of the songs and once the last song starts repeating itself ad nauseum, I just turn it off. Same thing for "Death Sex" by the Distillers. Why any band would antagonize its listeners on the last song is beyond me. Word is Futures won't be as hook-driven and succinct as BA, so that concerns me somewhat. I'll still buy it the first day, but warily. Off the top of my head, Waking the Fallen by Avenged Sevenfold absolutely floored me. I bought the record only upon seeing a promo pic of the band on the last page of a Rolling Stone and reading the miniature description of the album. I totally struck gold with them and have turned on over 4 of my close friends to them. Again, I'll consult the recent CDs in my notebook and return.

Well, looking at this year, Brandy's 'Afrodisiac' REALLY suprised me. I'm not an R&B/Urban fan at all, but the album has some really strong songs, like the title track, and "I Tried". The two singles are really good too.

I just busted it out not too long ago, and Ladytron's Light and Magic cd is kicking all ass right now, in a shocking, holy crap I didn't remember it being this good sort of way.

Brandy - Afrodisiac.
I didn't expect anything from this CD, I thought I'd dislike it, except for a few tracks, but I found the entire CD to be good. I can't take it out of my CD player, and that's weird, I'm not usually into R&B. :)
