Cool song. It probably won't crack the top 75.

It's number 65 as we speak. Dammit crash. There you go again answering my irrational ramblings with annoying facts and logic. Why do you always have to rain on my parade?

Too bad, because it is a really fine album. I like it better than any of their others.

This is the best song on the album. I hope it does something, but I somehow doubt it will.

Was #65 a peak for this song? It's currently struggling to stay in the top 75, just as i expected.

Who cares? Since when has the commercial success of an artist/song justified it's worth? I love The Strokes, FIOE is a fantastic album, and i love this song. I really couldn't care less if anyone else agrees with me or not

I really couldn't care less if anyone else agrees with me or not I'm sure The Strokes will appreciate your devotion once they get dropped from their label. Commercial success doesn't justify the worth of a song. It does however have a lot of bearing on an artist's career. And First Impressions was decent but nowhere near as good as their previous albums. They tried to hard to appeal to critics is what I think.

FIOE is much better than ROM. I disagree. I feel many songs on FIOE are lacking, boring even, and are missing the charm and memorability present on both ITI and ROM. Yes, ROM is more or less ITI Pt. 2. I don't care. It's consistently excellent and enjoyable, and that's all that matters. I can't say the same for FIOE.

You're right about that. It does make me sad though, when a band has to conform to what the public wants

The band themselves have said ROM was rushed. I think that there is too many fillers on ROM. ITI is a masterpiece though.

The band themselves have said ROM was rushed. I couldn't really give that much of a shit what the band thinks of their own music. I'm the one listening to it. And the album barely went gold, so I'd imagine the band would say anything in their defense. I'm sure they'll say the same thing about this album before the end of the year, and just you watch: I'll bet anything the next album will sound like the first two again. Why can't a band just be proud of what they release instead of trying to backpedal it all when it doesn't meet expectations, like it was a mistake from the start they're washing off their hands. I get the same feeling whenever I hear a band say they're "returning to their roots". It's an empty promise that usually means bullshit.

I think the Strokes have gotten progressively better with each album.

Anyway, in Blender recently, they said that Room on Fire (let's go ahead and fix that mistaken acronym, shall we?) would age like fine wine and be regarded as one of their best albums in 20 years. I can't speak on the new record because I haven't burned it yet. I wonder, though, how the critics feel about their flagship rock band of the past 5 years becoming less and less relevant over time.

Alternative adds date pushed back to August 1. What are they thinking? I really want the Strokes to have another hit off this album... if they keep delaying this, the already slim chances are hurt.

How can anyone deny the genius of FIOE? I personally enjoyed all three albums, but this last one is definately the best so far.
I guess people have emotional attachement to IS THIS IT? since it was such a defining album for the early post-millenium rock resurgence. Are The Strokes touring abroad now? The only thing that bugs me about them is that they tour when the album drops and then they disappear off the face of the earth until the next one comes out.

Honestly, I don't like FIOE nearly as much as the previous albums. To me, it's lost a lot of the simple catchiness and appeal that ITI and ROF had. I really think they tried too hard to please the critics that said they were a one-trick pony and in doing so, revealed that they were. Most of the songs on FIOE strike me as pretty boring and directionless.

Well, I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I personally think they kept their signature sound and style on FIOE while attempting to add new elements and nuances to the mix. I know a lot of fans hated "ask me anything" but I totally dig it. It's greatness is in its simplicity.
And how can you deny the awesomeness that are "you only live once", "fear of sleep", and the album's best track, "razorblade"? These are some of the best songs the band has ever recorded.

I really think they tried too hard to please the critics that said they were a one-trick pony and in doing so, revealed that they were. Most of the songs on FIOE strike me as pretty boring and directionless. This is honestly one of my favorite albums of the year, even if I don't consider myself a hardcore Strokes fan to begin with. I really fail to see how the Strokes would consciously make an album to satisfy any critics, considering everyone in the music business (and them especially) know damn well that most of the critics are already on their side. No, this doesn't have the simple appeal of their last two albums, but who wanted them to do the same thing again, anyway? I'm relieved they decided to progress toward better musical heights - and this displays a talent their last two albums didn't necessarily do. Boring and directionless is a judgment call, but not every musical group should try to conquer the world with revolutionary songs that take some great meaning. I mean, look at the Fray. Just nice musicianship and songs that don't take some huge significance. Just great and honest music that is complex enough. Sometimes musical complexity can become boring if the songs take on the same complexity (i.e. Panic! At The Disco), but in this case, I think it works because none of the songs, especially the singles, sound identical.
