The new album, Chase This Light, comes out September 4th. No word on the single yet, but it will be soon, mark my words.

It's been TOO long since we've heard new material from them. I'm freaking psyched!

I thought this was a greatest hits compilation with a few new tracks, if its a new album, great. I was going to say one of the most underrated bands to this format but that wouldn't be right, I'm pretty sure their run on the alternative chart has been:
Bleed American: Bleed American- Top 20 The Middle - #2 Sweetness- #1 A Praise Chorus- #15
Futures: Pain #1 Work #9 Futures #21 ('Kill' was one of the best non-released songs on this format of the decade IMO)

"A Praise Chorus" is their best song, ever.

A Praise Chorus sounds a bit dated but it is a great song, I remember it peaking sometime in November of 2002.

Maybe you're thinking of Matchbox Twenty.

I think I'd put "A Praise Chorus" in a tie with "Work" as my favorite Jimmy Eat World single. I mean I love every single they put out, but the rest just seemed to be too overplayed. I almost forgot that "Futures" (song) was the third single from the past album which obviously I can exclude since it hardly went anywhere.

Jimmy Eat World are pretty much the soundtrack to my undergrad years. "Sweetness" and "A Praise Chorus" would both be (and are, because I'm a dork and made one) in my personal top 100 songs of all-time chart. Also, if anyone's in the festive spirit, "Last Christmas" by these guys is truly amazing. My favorite Christmas song hands down.
I am stoked.

I don't even remember "A Praise Chorus". I wanna fall in love tonight! :) I missed them, even though Work is the only song I really got into on their last album, the previous one was AMAZING. Loved almost everything on it.

When I said September 4th, what I really meant was October 16th. Apologies.

From AbsolutePunk:
It appears that the first single from Jimmy Eat World's forthcoming album, Chase The Light, will be "Big Casino" and should impact radio mid-August.

Yeah, that's what FMQB says. I meant to put that, and then didn't.

That's a big f**king link. Yeah, possibly the longest one I've ever seen :o I can't really make a judgement from this short clip, but it sounds good as I expected.

Just heard this on DC101. Sounds like it's going to be one of my favorites this fall.

As I hoped and expected, this is great. Not quite as great as "The Pretender", but they'll still probably have the 2nd-highest entry this year on my personal chart.
It's not rising quickly enough on Alternative. >:(

Yeah; I've heard neither song, but assuming they were released on the same day, this should be blowing that Angels and Airwaves song out of the fucking water.

This is probably one of their weakest singles yet, especially as a lead single.

It doesn't blow me away. Of course, I may be biased because I think that Jimmy Eat World's self-titled debut album is one of the best of the '00s. I get so nostalgic when I listen to it .... Anyway, this will suffice as a first single. I hope that the next singles are a little more memorable.

I can't help but pick nits, but Jimmy Eat World's first album came out in 1994, which was a self-titled, and was then followed with 1996's Static Prevails and 1999's Clarity, the latter of which is what many people consider to be their best album. I neither agree nor disagree, my personal favorite right now is Futures, but I thought you should know that the 2001 album formerly known as Bleed American, renamed because of the 9/11 attacks, was not their debut, or even their self-titled debut.

Well that's embarrassing. Okay, so Jimmy Eat World's been around way longer than I realized. And now I've outed myself as merely a wannabe fan who was sucked in by mainstream exposure. The shame.
