I'm really really looking forward to this. I have a feeling they're right on the verge of breaking out tremendously and they're so close to becoming a household modern rock name. I'm sure there's many people out there who'd rather them not become huge, but I believe they surely deserve the major success.

i thought they were huge? they usually enter the billboard 200 in the top 10. as for them becoming bigger, i doubt too much mainstream attention will come from this, i dont think something this unique will be widely accepted, although it would be awesome if it does. i have a feeling its gonna be pretty experimental.

They're pretty huge for in the particular scene they're in, and I'd assume most rock radio listeners have heard of Thrice. However, I don't believe they've had a single hit like Top 20 on the charts or whatever. That's the kind of power I think they may get if this album really gets noticed.

This seems like a venture even further into the progressive direction that Vheissu took. Based on those two songs, this is gonna be really good.

Agree wholeheartedly.
I'm excited to hear it all because Vheissu is my favorite album from ANY artist and these two songs are great as well. ESPECIALLY "Digital Sea." I can't wait to see them although I think it's absurd that they're opening up for a band who's only half as prolific and probably not all that much more popular on the whole; I was hoping it would be co-headlined when I first heard about that.

That band is Brand New, right? They are WAY more popular than Thrice its not even funny. But I'm basing this off from the fanbase they have on websites like absolutepunk.net. Brand New are to AbsolutePunk.net what Mariah Carey is to this board.

It just seems that both bands have no real huge radio hit and sell modestly well. I mean, that new Brand New one opened with 60,000 copies and I'm sure it can't be drastically different from a Top 20 opening album.
Still I think it's ridiculous, although perhaps Brand New wins for currently being on the major label.

radio is not everything. As I LAy dying for example just puled off like a 58,000 units in its first week, and they have never had a radio hit. its the underground, and Thrice is huge there. as is "brand Shitty er um... New"

Well, my point was missed anyway. I really think that if a band is not huge WHEN COMPARED TO another act, it's kind of cheap that they headline in favor, though I realize both bands respect each other very much. But it's not like they still play small venues, which is generally what puts forth what an underground act is.
I actually LIKE Brand New. I don't quite love 'em but I do respect them.

well i stand somewhat corrected... i gave Brand New a listen, they are kinda like Thrice. i remember hearing Brand new a few years back, and they were all punky-emo-ish. i hated it, but their newer stuff isnt bad. but that doesnt change the fact that Thrice should be headlining!

this multi-album is going to be a masterpiece! cant wait! Completely agree. I thought Vhiessu was incredible as well. Dustin has such a warm voice (I say that in a 100% hetero way). But I doubt Thrice establish that mainstream sound, much less becoming a household name. If "Image" and "Red Sky" couldn't dent top 40, then they won't ever do it unless they abandon their signature sound for something more, say, Killers-esque or Nickelback-esque (one of those two directions). Not that they would ever stoop to those levels.... And, seriously, who could diss Brand New?! :o

The fact that you went out of your way to add the parenthetical sentence indicates you may not, in fact, be 100% comfortable with your own sexual identity. No one was going to call you a homosexual if you had stopped after "warm voice."

^^^Wow. I use parentheses, and Justin Timberlake points out my sexual identity.

Thinking Justin Timberlake is a smooth, charismatic badass and having the opinion that he and Timbaland are making almost all of the best pop music of the past couple years indicates absolutely nothing about my sexuality.
However, your assumption that it does actually validates my previous post about you.

Wow, entrapment. Great job, Nick. You should become a psychologist.
And to think that somebody off the Internet pointed it out. Give it up for Nick, folks.

If you like a guy's voice, you must be gay.
Seriously JD, Nick's got a point. You didn't really need to confirm your sexuality for us.

But the real question here is...can the warmth of Dustin's voice actually change your sexual preference...DUN DUN DUN. These new thrice songs are amazing. And JD, did you mean that "Image" and "Red Sky" never punctured top 40 as in the format of top 40 music or did you mean the top 40 of the rock formats, cuz I remember "Image" approaching #20 and "Red Sky" in the 30s somewhere. If you meant the format, I would never even think of Thrice crossing over, that would be...blasphemous....or....unlikely at least.

I don't follow the AR chart. I never root against a band to cross over, as long as they do so with deserving material (which would be almost the entire amount of "crossovers" anyway).

I didn't realize the album was out today. when I went into futureshop to buy transformers, I was so happy to see it. Fire is the better of the two EP's. I can't wait to hear the rest. p.s. The Arsonist is the best song.
