From AbsolutePunk.net: MTV has done some sleuth work and discovered that Panic! at the Disco's lead single off of their untitled sophomore album will be "Nine in the Afternoon". The video will be shot on December 20 and 21 with Shane Drake, who helmed their videos for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and "But It's Better If You Do". Also, in what looks to be a nightly occurrence, Panic! at the Disco's website has been updated. Looks like Mr. DeAndrea was correct in his assumption.

According to a poster in General Artist thread, the album will be titled <0 (less than zero). Take it for what it's worth.
I'm anxious to listen to their *new?* sound.

Can't wait!!! Their debut single will definately get pop play too. Yeah you could tell it was P!ATD, but it was really hard to hear anything really since it was in the background of some characters speaking at the time.

They dropped the exclamation point from their name...
It's now "Panic At The Disco".

Can they at least be known as the artists formerly known as "Panic! At the Disco"?

Ah man, I usually laugh at almost anything, but that's just not funny. I bet when talking about them from now on, 99% of the time, we'll still include the "!" from a form of habit.

Agreed on the sucking assedness of the punctuational removal.

Eh, like them, I don't see what the big deal is. www.vh1.com/news/articles/1579497/20080111/panic_at_the_disco.jhtml"Panic at the Disco" That wasn't so hard. At least Microsoft Word will stop trying to capitalize the "at" for me. That was more annoying than slipping in the "!" after Panic. I wish I could've found a usable picture of the "Hispanic at the Disco" t-shirt (as it turns out, there are 4 additional variations) that still makes me smile so much, but alas.

I don't really care. Just like how I keep spelling it Hed (P.E.) regardless of how they change it, I'm going to keep spelling it Panic! At The Disco. The band can do whatever the fuck they want, I'm doing it the way I'm gonna do it.

I love how they go out of their way to explain this change, saying punctuation is not a big deal but then put unnecessary punctuation in their new album title, saying that punctuation is cool. Whatever @ this cheap publicity stunt/attempt to stay relevant.

Whatever @ this cheap publicity stunt/attempt to stay relevant. Not to downplay the possibility that it was made a big deal on purpose by the band, but a lot of artists usually say minor things during an interview that are taken out of context and blown up so that news outlets have a story to run. That recently happened to Daughtry, and I don't doubt that this is the same thing. It's a big deal only because news outlets make it a big deal.

Penance, insightful as always. I was a bit harsh, I realize...It was just how I was feeling at the time but who knows really, because I definitely wasn't there at the interview and I know how things can get taken out of context.

I like it, it's not as upbeat as I was hoping for, but it's a decent tune, I reckon it could do pretty well on Mainstream as well as Alternative. Seeing them in March, they best be good live!

Full song is now available to hear at their MySpace at www.myspace.com/panicatthedisco I can see this having impact on Hot AC & Pop since it's rather "lighter" than just about anything else I've heard from them. Obviously I haven't heard anything else from this new album, but I'm not sure if this was the best route for a lead single.
