I'm indifferent either way, but if I were to use a picture in my signature, I'd make it fairly small.

What would everyone think about a size limit of 500 pixels wide by 150 pixels high? That would be sufficient for the "banners", but wouldn't put so much space between posts. This is an example of a 500x150 image:

I'd like to suggest something alittle smaller than that in height. Maybe 500X90 or something. The problem with big pictures is that they go down the page too far, I think.

I really have no opinion on this. My banner was made for me by a close friend at the Britney forums that I go to. I have no clue how to reduce it without destroying it & I don't feel like bothering him to make me a new one .

Avatars are cool except if they take too long to load. I would like the signature pics have a limit or just be taken away (it doesn't bother me).

I really don't like pictures in signatures. I would love to see them reduced to default banner size max.... (600x40)? Avatars below usernames are fine with me...

Oh and those scrolling across the screen signatures are bloody annoying as hell, get rid of them! I mean they must take a lot of time to load and they're just unnecessary and annoying.

They shouldn't take much more time to load than normal pictures, since all that's required to make them scroll is a simple HTML code, but if your computer is slow, it may take time to render it.

I think the picture limit should be a little smaller than the example Matt used in his post. Even though I have no problems loading them, they are annoying as hell to scroll past in every post.

I'd like to add that if several of these big pictures are in one thread, it is drastically increasing the time it takes to load the page. For instance, it took me over a minute for this one to load using DSL, where loading a page usually happens instantaneously.
I think the banner in Sean's post should be the MAXIMUM size allowed. You still get to have your banner, but it's small enough that it doesn't really affect loading time or having to leaf through the thread to find the actual posts. I think none would be even better though ;)

One thing I want to bring up is animated avatars. How big can those be? Like when I scroll past RebirthExperience's Mariah one it lags a bit -- nothing too bad though. I don't know if mine slows down scrolling the posts.
If animated avatars slows down scrolling down the page, I would be happy to just stick with a normal nonanimated avatar.

87% of you guys want the maximum size of pictures reduced, 29% of you all the way to 0 (no pictures). So I'm going to ask that images in signatures be kept to a maximum size of 500 by 100 pixels. This is an example of a 500x100 image: If I see one that is greater either in width or height, I'll PM you asking you to reduce its size or remove it altogether. I don't see the problem with avatars, as those are usually pretty small anyway. But obviously, I don't want you to load an avatar that's 200x200 or something. Try to keep it under 80x80. And the marquees are nothing more than just scrolling text, so I have no problem with that either.
