Matt,
how would you feel about taking Hot AC out of the AC forum and instead combining it with AAA?
I always thought that AC and Hot AC couldn't be more different... so it's kind of a pet peeve of mine posting about the Hot AC chart in the AC forum. Bceuase of that, I tend to post less about Hot AC even though its my favorite chart.
On the other hand, AAA and Hot AC share a lot of core artists and many times a song will cross over from one to the other. To me, they just seem to go together better.

I think that's a good idea. AAA and Hot AC (especially Modern AC) have more in common than do Hot AC and AC.

I could go either way here. I'll monitor this thread and see what people think.

If it's not broken, don't fix it. Leave it like it is!

I say either keep it the way it is or make a seperate forum for each of the three. I don't think Hot AC and AAA are so similar that they should be lumped into the same forum.

It feels kinda funny talking about 3DD and 3eb next to Barbra Streisand. Also, UMG had the two forums combined and in just those few days there were more topics/posts than usual in it.

If you look at the current Top 20 on all three charts, I believe only the following songs overlap:
HOT AC/AC Uncle Kracker Matchbox Twenty Train
HOT AC/AAA John Mayer Train Barenaked Ladies Dido
So it looks like HOT AC isn't much closer to AAA than AC after all.

You forgot Sarah McLachlan and Guster, who are currently both in the Top 20 of AAA and Hot AC.
If you look at the full charts, AAA and Hot AC go on to have many common artists. Santana, Sting, Liz Phair, Jason Mraz, Sheryl Crow, etc. Furthermore, many of the songs that are in the Top 20 of Hot AC right now were at one time in the Top 20 of AAA that crossed over. It is generally far more common for songs to go for adds at both Hot AC and AAA than Hot AC and AC. I think it'd be more fun and logical to watch songs cross over between these 2 formats in one place, than to make a post about Third Eye Blind amongst posts on Phil Collins and Celine Dion where no one replies since it gets buried so quickly. That's how I feel anyway.
Anyway, my issue isn't with Hot AC not being with AAA. It's with the fact that it is with AC. TEXT

Thanks, I understand your point of view.
PS--Sorry about missing Sarah Mc and Guster.
I wouldn't want to see the AC forum get completely lost if Hot AC is taken away from it. Maybe this would be an odd suggestion, but why not combine all three instead?
Don't all three appeal to an older market?

I agree with the change! I'd be more in favour of making a forum for all three but since you don't want to jumble the place up with too many forums, I'd like to see Hot AC and AAA mixed together and AC mixed with Oldies. ;)

Don't all three appeal to an older market? I see your concern too. But, glancing at the AC/Hot AC forum right now, all but one topics are about AC so I don't think it would get lost. I actually see it growing since it would be more focused, so to speak. In terms of combining all three, I think that would complicate matter even further. It would just me one big mumble jumble. I think AC appeals to an older market. Hot AC and AAA appeal to a younger market I think. My friends are all between the ages of 19 and 22 and most of us consider our Hot AC outlet to be our main station (PLJ). They play the artists who were big at pop only 5 years ago when we were all in high school. We don't have a AAA market, but I always considered it to be the sort of "college format." Basically, all the songs on AAA are what people are listening to here... at college. That's kind of another reason I think Hot AC and AA go together LOL.

Make it into a poll. I vote for combining the 3 since AAA doesn't get much traffic (Saves me the trouble of clicking on it to check out just 1 or 2 posts.)

If AAA and Hot AC were combined, I'm sure there'd be tons of interest. AAA would be my favourite forum if more people posted there, definately. The chart is so fascinating.
