It's possible that doing three shows each week probably came to be a bit too much for him. He has been getting substitutes often this past year so it was probably hit choice to drop the show.

Actually, he's been having frequent substitutes for many years now. Since the late 1990's at least, he's taken 8 weeks off per year.
I've heard speculation (totally unconfirmed) that the primary reason he is leaving is because he no longer appeals to the CHR/Pop target audience (teenagers and early 20-somethings), whereas people who tune in specifically to hear Casey are primarily those who follow the two AC shows. It sort of makes sense to me, but I'm still not happy about it.

On the year-end at the end he said "See you next week for the first chart of 2004" or something thereof.

Yeah, Casey's got one more show. Wouldn't that suck if there was a substitute on the last day of his contract?

I think Casey will do the countdown this weekend, but I wonder if Ed Mc Mann will continue to be the substitute host for Ryan, or if they will find someone else.

At least Casey will probably get to say his proper goodbyes now... the news was announced on December 9th, so he would have to had recorded the show after that date.

From what I've read on another message board, Casey makes no mention on this upcoming weekend's show that it's his last.
