That's brilliant! ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0270.gif) I can barely tell the difference!

though there is a little bit of difference between this song and "Last Night" there is absolutely no difference between Iggy and Jet

You have a point with Iggy and Jet, but there's not much of a similarity with "Last Nite". Basically what Ben said.

I hear no similarity at all to "Last Nite"
"Last Nite" has less of a texture and sounds more like mid-60's rock.
I admit that Jet uses the same riff as Iggy, but I don't think that makes "AYGBMG" a rip-off. I can't even begin to say how many times that blues riff "Dun-dun, dun-dun!" has been used, from "Bad To The Bone" to "My Baby Don't Tolerate". But they've al been used to different appeals and "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" truly stands out by its appeal.
As aleady mentioned, it's almost impossible not to plagiarize anothers riff or music nowadays when all the chords have been graphed, all the panatonic scales graced, and all the octaves swallowed. Unless someone invents a whole new instrument with a whole different shape made out of a whole different material or metal, rock and roll will just keep plagiarizing itself.
I actually like this song and do believe it'll be a big hit for the spring. Top-10 bound!
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I hope "With You" gets to #1 so it can piss you off. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif) I hope it does too. I'd love for her career to be killed by overexposure. She is garbage.

I'd rather her career be killed by anything else other than overexposure.

Well, me too...it's just sometimes you gotta bite your tongue and have a little patience. Whatever works. The longer she sticks around, the longer I get to slam her anyway, so that's cool.

It may even make the Top 30 within the next few weeks given it already has a bullet over +500 with only 53 stations on the panel playing it so far, with many more adds bound to come quickly. :) Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I find nothing appealing about this song. Pop has ignored some great tracks already and THIS is plowing up the chart? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Oh goodness...

Since I made this post in the locked repeat thread, I might as well post it here. It's basically an expansion of the first post I made here.
LOL, this is like the 20th different topic on this song on the boards now.
This song needs to die, seriously. It really just sucks. There's like, nothing to this song. It's just completely bland. It's like "oh look, we didn't use production, that makes us talented!" No, making songs that are annoying does not mean you're talented.
And I heard two of their other songs on the radio the other night. The first one, "Cold Hard Bitch", was a complete AC/DC retread. I could go into it further, but I think the comments are more reserved for the Alternative forum. The other one was a complete Beatles rip-off. The singer sounded exactly like Paul McCartney, but the DJ thought he sounded like John Lennon. I don't know, all I know is that there was nothing in the song to redeem it as original.
Wow, I don't think I've ever felt so negatively about an artist. I mean, I probably feel the same, if not worse, about Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears or people like that, but I usually don't say much about it because it just seems inherent to me. I guess the fact that they're new changes that.

"Are You Gonna Be My Girl" is now in the Top 30 and continues to stride with a strong bullet.
I agree with the AC/DC influences in their music, but I feel the negativity is blowing far out of proportion just because they're inspired by their style. The musical landscape is not all AC/DC like anyway.
Evan, I believe you were referring to "Look What You've Done" in the comparison to The Beatles. Then there's a number of acoustics, including "Move On", "Radio Song" and "Timothy" (my favorite track from the album).
These guys are nothing groundbreaking, but I really enjoy their album as they know just what original rock and roll is! It's like a semi-tribute to it!
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I think this is one of the best songs to grace the pop chart this year. I don't know what it is, but lately, the format has really been embracing quality over the flashy. And it's not even that I'm biased towards rock music because I tend to like both equally. It just feels to me that pop is picking the absolute best of rock to showcase. Fuel, Linkin Park, Jet, and hopefully, The Darkness have all experienced and will continue to experience much deserved success. Here's to a change in the air for 2004.
