Wow, I can't believe how well La Tortura is doing. #89 for a Spanish Song is impressive, right?

It is relative. It is definitely good for a spanish song but I think it should have been much better if you compare with european airplay which usually doesnt play spanish songs either. The song is or was top 10 in many European countries .
But I'm glad that american mainstream stations are deciding to pick up the song. By the way she is #84 today with 116 spins, although is losing steam in Los Angeles.

But in Europe, it isn't unusual to have songs in different languages charting. Also, Shakira is huge in Europe.

Everytime I looked at the Z100 website to see if they played Don't Bother yet, they were playing La Tortura AGAIN. They are crazy for that song. La Tortura is finally starting to slide down on the iTunes Top 100 songs. It's #53 right now.

^ I'm tired of La Tortura thanks to Z100. I'm glad they're playing it, but they play it so much its a turn off.

I am not sure if this is the place to ask this question but according to http://www.juanes.net: The special year-to-date "Hot Latin Tracks" Chart published in this week's Billboard once again solidifies JUANES position as Latin radio's most in-demand artist. Not only is the nine-time Latin Grammy winner's current single "La Camisa Negra" the #1 Latin Song of the year, but Juanes is also #1 on the Hot Latin Songs Artists list with THREE #1 charting singles. In fact, the three consecutive #1 singles from Juanes' multi-platinum third album Mi Sangre (My Blood) collectively held the #1 position for over 6 months. How could La Camisa Negra be the #1 song of the year on Latin Tracks? La Tortura has held the #1 position for 20 weeks already and it's still in the #1 position. And La Tortura has been on the charts for 27 weeks which is more than 1/2 a year with a chart run of 11-07-06-05-02-01-01-02-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01. La Camisa Negra has been on the chart longer, but at a lower position for most of its run. Can anyone explain how this works?

Maybe its airplay was higher when it was #1? "La Tortura" didn't seem to have a lot of comp @ #1.

Even though Juanes is in the lead, Shakira can`t be too far behind. I say at the end of the year she`ll be in the Top3. And it`s no surprise Juanes is #1 for Hot Latin Artists, since he`s had 3 #1 singles.

I am definitely not surprised that he got Hot Latin Artists, he had 3 #1 songs. But, they weren't #1 for very long. Even with higher airplay while he was #1, La Camisa Negra can't have higher airplay than La Tortura. Oh, well. So much for this being Shakira's year.

Congrats to Shakira for breaking that record! This is, by FAR, the most successful Spanish song in mainstream America during the whole time I followed music, which is now 11 years (Damn! I'm old! :().

I'm glad she has the record but doesn't 700k is low for a song that spend 21 weeks @ #1?

I'm glad she has the record but doesn't 700k is low for a song that spend 21 weeks @ #1? Do you mean album sales? If so, the album has only been out since June 7th, so I think it's doing pretty well. DELL, Shakira's currently best selling Spanish album has sold 900K+, so I think FO1 is doing great. Daddy Yankee's album has only sold 800K+ a year in being released. Does anyone know what the best-selling Spanish album is in the U.S.? ??? Congrats to Shakira on La Tortura's success. I am amazed at how well LT has done on mainstream radio. MTV really helped her with getting this song out there in anglo audiences.
