You know what, i just thought of one that did, "A Moment Like This," but come on, we all kow the reason it topped the Billboard Chart was because of the AI hype and it had nothing to do with the quality of the song, so i still stand by my quote about "Beautiful".

"Dilemma," a song by a rapper named Nelly is a ballad? What are you on? Not the Christina punch that you're on. That songs fits my definition of a ballad. There have been plenty of rap ballads over the past 15 years. Who sings it shouldn't determine whether or not something is a ballad. "A Moment Like This" should count. Also, I'm not sure on this but "Hero" (Enrique not Chad/Josey) may have hit top three.

"Mesmerize" will be #1 on my year-end chart, based solely on chart positions.
"Rain On Me" is probably my "true" favorite, since it actually had a lot of competition for #1, and still came out on top, with 8 weeks+. (Unlike "Mesmerize," which had barely any competition for most of its 17 weeks at #1.)

Radiorules has a good point. It's pretty rare for a pop ballad to do so well on the charts now---let alone reach #1. "This Is The Night" had massive sales because of AI but was neglected by radio. However, "A Moment Like This" did get a lot of airplay.
I guess "Beautiful" is the only pure pop ballad other than "A Moment Like This" or maybe "Hero" to do so well in recent years, and I agree, it does sound like a track from the early '90s. Christina does deserve recognition for this.

I agree. Liked it the first time I heard it, and still like it as much now. It's the only song that's been on my chart every week so far in 2003.

In terms of songs that hit #1, I'd say "Beautiful" or "I'm With You".
In terms of songs that hit the Top Ten, that would have to be "If You're Not The One" by Daniel Bedingfield.
In terms of songs that hit the CHR/Pop Top 50, my favorite song of the year is "I Showed Her" by O-Town.

The biggest and best ballad, of not only this year, but the century: "Beautiful". Guess we'll have to come back in 97 years to see if that holds up. ;) I'm going with my personal chart #1 for 2003, "Bring Me To Life".

Without a doubt #1 is "Lost Without You" by Delta Goodrem.
Top 3 is:
1. Lost Without You - Delta Goodrem 2. Innocent Eyes - Delta Goodrem 3. Falling - Candice Alley

I'll have to give the edge to Coldplay and 'Clocks'. From the first listen to the most recent one, that song has never failed! Still on my chart after 11 months! and it's still in my playlist 19 years later! 2nd best song of all time IMO

So many good ones already listed like Clocks, Where is the Love, If You're Not the One, Here Without You, Headstrong (though this was more 2004), and More to Live (though I preferred Stacie Orrico's first single, Stuck).
I'll go with one not already listed in Swing, Swing by the All American Rejects. My alt station played this twice this past week, and before that, it had been a while since I last heard it.

Nearly 20 years later: I still think โClocksโ is a great song but Iโd have roughly 40 or more songs Iโd rather listen to from 2003 over it nowadays. My favourite single might be โBright Lightsโ maybe? But thereโs a lot of classics from the year to choose from.

Some of my favs from that year: "Hey Ya!", "It's My Life" (No Doubt), and "My Love Is Like Woah".
