Well, it'll only be appropriate to make this thread. Plus, it's self-explanatory.
My vote: Christina Aguilera f/Lil'Kim - Can't Hold Us Down
I could care less if this hit #3. It's just bad compared to her other singles.
What's your worst?

"Get Low" - Lil John & The Eastside Boys"
"Can't Hold Us Down" is a close second. Make that third. I forgot about "Camel Toe"

Any of the singles by 50 Cent, Ashanti, J. Lo, Simple Plan, B2K, and "Bring Me To Life"

"Bring Me To Life"
I thought it over and was caught in a three-way tie with that, Simple Plan's "Addicted" and Good Charlotte's "The Anthem".
In the end, I think Evanescence has the worst of 2003 because their single made it to more different formats.
*************Dishonorable Mentions***************
CHR/Pop: Simple Plan: "Addicted" Hot AC & AC: Uncle Kracker: Drift Away Country: Darryl Worley: Have You Forgotten? Triple A: Ben Harper: With My own Two Hands Alternative: (tie): Chevelle: "Send The Pain Below" & Linkin Park: "Faint"
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

"Bring Me To Life" I thought it over and was caught in a three-way tie with that, Simple Plan's "Addicted" and Good Charlotte's "The Anthem". LOL. As of October 21, there have been 1144 songs to become eligible for the R&R/Pulse 100 this year, and without naming my favorite song of the year (as if anyone doesn't already know ), one of those songs would rank #1 and the other two would rank #1140 or below.

Good call
Ashanti's "Rock With You" is GARBAGE.
"Awww baby, awwwww baby, awwww baby, awwwww baby, awwww baby, awww baby, awww baby"
So annoying. It ripped off a Neptunes beat and sampled a song.
Whoever produced this (Irv Gotti..?) needs to get some creativity

I used to hate "Rock With You" too, but now it's kind of grown on me. I don't really like it, I just don't mind hearing it anymore.

Really! I'd like to hear your choices for the Worst of 2003! ;) I know some really like BMTL here, but personally, that song just sounds like a hybrid of a Linkin Park B-side. Sounds just like Linkin Park with female vocals. And Paul McCoy's rap in the song just makes me cringe personally. It'll be really interesting to see where "Bring Me To Life" ranks in the end with quite a few really praising this song and quite a few also despising it. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Really! I'd like to hear your choices for the Worst of 2003! ;) I'll look through the database of Pulse 100-charting songs (a luxury I have ) and come up with a top 10 later. I know some really like BMTL here, but personally, that song just sounds like a hybrid of a Linkin Park B-side. Sounds just like Linkin Park with female vocals. And Paul McCoy's rap in the song just makes me cringe personally. I'm really not trying to make a big deal out of your dislike for BMTL, trust me. I probably shouldn't have even bothered replying, lol. It'll be really interesting to see where "Bring Me To Life" ranks in the end with quite a few really praising this song and quite a few also despising it. Yeah, it's definitely a love/hate song. I think it finished in the top 5 of both favorite and least favorite songs in a mid-year survey on R&R.

Worst single would have to be Matchbox 20 for Unwell or Madonna for American Life ( what the hell was she thinkin' trying to "rap")!!!

"Drift Away" by Uncle Cracker. I don't know how this awful song could spend 21 weeks (5 + months) at No. 1 on the AC chart. Of all the songs to remake, why this boring song? ??? I don't get it!

I agree totally with Matt. How can you group one of the best songs this year along with 2 obviuosly deserving of the worst honors, and then decide that the good song should be worst?
There are so many worst this year to consider: certainly the Simple Plan and Good Charlotte songs; also "Magic Stick", "All I Have", "Ladies" by Sarai, everything by Ludacris, "20 Questions" is the worst of the lousy selection from 50 Cent, "I Want You" by Thalia, "Where the Hood At" by DMX, the Bonecrusher song, whose title I forgot, another forgettable one from Da Brat, "Rock wit U" by Ashanti, "My Love Is Like Whoa" by Mya, "Right THurr", "Cameltoe, and a whole bunch of remakes led by "Drift Away" and "Big Yellow Taxi". I'm sure they're lots others, but that's all I can name at the moment.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned "In Da Club". That song is so bad that on my "Deesified" version of the charts, I'm going to give that song as low a point total as I can while making the charts look (somewhat) consistent. It's definitely not going to be number one! How it got to number one on the real chart I'll never know.

] "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" by Mariah Carey What a load of s**t! That is wrong on so many levels :o hey, it's his opinion, so it can't be wrong... i don't like the way she sings this song at all either, but it isn't the worst of the year.

Maybe because he came out with much worse songs than "In Da Club" this year.

And Paul McCoy's rap in the song just makes me cringe personally. Except that Linkin Park doesn't have a drummer, Evanescence doesn't have a DJ, Amy is never involved in entire verses or choruses made up entirely of white noise-like screams (she hardly ever screams at all, for that matter), and whatever Paul McCoy is doing in the song (I don't really think it could be called "rap") is done so not often by Linkin Park (one song, maybe?) that I have no idea how anyone could think of that as LP's trademark. There's so many dissimilarities between the two bands that it boggles the mind that so many people could make such a comparison.

I'm sure they're lots others, but that's all I can name at the moment. Again, that's just your opinion. Just because half of the people here love BTML doesn't necessarily mean that it is one of the best songs of 2003. Many here also ranked it among their worst. As for listing worse singles this year, some of them are pretty bad ("Drift Away", "Magic Stick", "My Love Is Like Woah", "21 Questions") but then you also have to consider many better songs this year: matchbox twenty's "Bright Lights" and "Unwell", Outkast's "Hey Ya", Coldplay's "Clocks" and "The Scientist", Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt", R.E.M's "Bad Day", Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" (I think it's safe to say overall it has the plus-side) Black Eyed Peas "Where Is The Love", Jason Mraz's "The Remedy", even 50 Cent's "In Da Club" is better in my opinion because it is anthemic even when a bit annoying. I'm sure there's others, and I can't name those at the moment. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I somewhat agree with that. But I think they generelly have the same kind of style and mood to their songs. But they are very very different in many ways too. I just think people don't have anyone to compare each band to... so they compare them to eachother.

it was also stated when Evanescence first broke out that they were a female version of LP, but i guess that it was just the one song, i don't notice them being similar to LP since that song...
