Tilt Ya Head Back, thankfully. The hype was there and like Noah said, these are two of CHR's favorite artists, so it should be a surefire hit, right? Wrong. The song sucked, peaked at around #25, then fell off the face of the Earth, never to be heard again.
I suppose you could say the same for Car Wash, but that was novelty so no one was expecting it to have longevity of any kind, or for anyone to put it into power rotation. It was doomed from the start IMO.
Flap Your Wings underperformed at Top 40 & Rhythmic, but it wasn't a massive flop at Urban. I'm pretty sure it peaked in like the Top 20, and I heard it a good bit on WEAS and WQBT.
Chingy didn't flop *that* bad. I think he went Top 10 at Rhythmic, not sure about Urban, but he got off to a slow start as well at Top 40 and he outlasted most of the other tracks on the list there, not that that says too much.
Gwen's song was a piece of (expletive), but it did make the Top 20 and some stations latched onto it. Not to mention that her album has done fairly well and it paved the way for Rich Girl. Discounting Flap Your Wings (Over and Over came out around the time Tilt Ya Head Back just started to fall), none of these other flops allowed for hit follow-ups.
Outrageous was also a flop, but My Prerogative did just as poorly, if not more so. More importantly, a lot of stations played it as an album track before it was released as a single, so when it started to gain steam, some stations were tired of it. Not to mention that there was no video or tour to help it out.
No comment on the Cam'ron track because I haven't heard it and no very little about it.
That leaves Whatever U Want, which I almost voted for. Not sure why that flopped, it was radio-friendly and was coming off of one of summer's biggest radio hits. Oh well.
