rotfl. you're joking about both though, right? Yes lol. I think it was such a low blow to the dance community to award "Crazy in Love" with the Best choreography award over Myas FLAWLESS solo choreography and tap solo in the "my love is like wo" video. I dont a single choreographer worth their salt that would say a booty shake equals best choreography. And Madonna......she isnt much of a dancer but she had her moments.

MuchMusic had a list of the 20 best dancers and Michael was no. 1 of course but Madonna was 4th while Paula was way behind like at 8...stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Kate Bush is a better dancer than any of those.

To pick the best dancer here is pure opinion, so I say let's go by dance resumes. My take is this, only 2 people on this list were successful paid professionals in dance, hired soley on their ability to dance better than other professionals dancers in the entertainment industry. Those two women are Paula Abdul and Jennifer Lopez. Both of these women's entertainment careers started in dance and they both became huge stars in their own right. None of the other entertainers on the list were successful professional dancers. Even though Jennifer was and is still hired as a dancer for NKOTB, MC Hammer, In Living Color, and Puff Daddy- she has never choreographed professionally. Paula was hired to Choreograph for the LA Lakers and Janet Jackson. So based on this resume, Paula is the best dancer, followed by Jennifer - for her dance credits, then possibly Janet- because she has trained so closely with two great choreographers.

Thats a great breakdown. But people really underrate Mya who trained for years as a dancer.

agreed. Seeing this girl dance is amazing. But its like no one sees that but very few people. Yea. The "my love is like wo" video did an exceptional job at displaying her skills. She is the ONLY dancer to do a solo tap performance since Paual Abdul in "straight up." And I was pissed she lost the "best dance video award and "best choreography" award for that video The girl trained as a dancer since childhood, even went to a performing arts highschool for dance.. She is underrated in EVERY way and she really shouldnt be. I hope she really becomes a bigger star.

I have not seen Mya tap, but did see her dance on Janet jackson - Icon. I thought she was good. My earlier point was not to discount anyone on the list, but to give more credit to the 2 women who earned their stripes as dancers long before they were famous. Women who were PAID to be dancers at the highest levels because they were damn good- Both of which were paid to dance with Janet Jackson - the pinnacle of being a dancer. Did you know that Jennifer was asked to go on tour with Janet? Only the BEST dancers go on the road with Janet. Jennifer passed because she got a chance to shoot her first TV pilot - and we all know how that worked out. If anyone is getting the shaft here, its Jennifer. She's a way better dancer than anyone here gives her credit for.

The choreography in the "get right" video alone tops anything ever done in a video since Janet on the "if" video and Jennifer was actually in that video as well if i'm not mistaken lol.

Paula Abdul. She was one of the original good ones. I think the others dance good too. But since Paula has done all that choreography, I prefer her.

Paula and Janet are probably better, but I really like Mya. I'll vote for her based on video for "Free" and "My Love is Like Wo"

J Lo may be a good dancer but I've never seen her dance as sharply and tighly as Janet. Just because she was a Janet dancer doesn't mean she was as good as Janet.

#1 - ALL of Janet's dancers are better than she is, its their job to be better. #2 - I've never considered her "tight" choreography dancing. Its "tight" because she spends weeks memorizing every move. That is unlike a dancer that learns the basic choreography and then makes it their own. Jennifer makes her dance look easy and effortless, and that's the mark of a professional. I am not knocking Janet, "if" is probably still one of my favorite videos.

agreed. Seeing this girl dance is amazing. But its like no one sees that but very few people. People saw Mya trying to do Pleasure Principle for the Janet ICON tribute show and she didn't even begin to compare.

I try to understand your point of view sometimes, I really do. But wow. First of all, Jennifer was not in the If video. And secondly, I totally disagree with you. Jennifer is very stiff to me in the Get Right video. Jennifer is nowhere as near as good of a dancer as Janet is. Jennifer could not pull off something as intricate and technical as Rhythm Nation or the chair-dance in Miss You Much. Jennifer could not pull off the hour-long dance-a-thon that was the Rhythm Nation Short Film. Compare Janet's dancing in Pleasure Principle to everything Jennifer has done. That's just totally off-base. Jennifer is nowhere near as good, IMO.

That's just totally off-base. Jennifer is nowhere near as good, IMO. I dont think so. Even when she was a fly girl on "in living color" they were known as the best dancers around. But everyone has an opinion but Jennifer is far more versatile and the natural dancer of the 2. Anyone can be taght to dance to a routine when u have a choreographer. Jennifer was dancing from childhood and made a living from doing it where she had to compete against every dancer in NYC to get jobs. I think she more than proved herself as a dancer, and she doesnt make music where she has to dance like "pleasure princaple" and "miss u much." But i have never seen Janet do anythig lke the diverse amount of dancing Jennifer did in the "if u had my love" video. Latin & hip hop freestyle. she isnt bound to 1 type of movement. she can be sharp as hell and she can be totally free and show why she was such a sought after dancer. I have heard alot of people say how mechanical and programmed Janet looks when she dances. It just doesnt look as natural compred to some1 who has been dancing since birth. "get right" choreography is very tight and thats how that particular routine was supposed to look. Very sharp in the movements and thats how the dancers look as well. However on any given Janet routine she still looks very programmed while the dancers look much more comfortable and free with the movements. She gets out danced by her dancers very often. I have never even seen Janet do any free style dancing, every dance she does is choreographed. No freestyle, no solo movements just choreographed routines.....which are fine. But Jenifer can do every type of dance, and has shown alot of solo/freestyle ability. Jennifer is the more versatile and natural dancer. I love Janet ALOT more than Jennifer but I have to call it like i see it.Janet is a great dancer but its obvious she would be handicapped without a choreographer. Jennifer has shown she can do choreographed movements, freestyle hip hop, salsa, tango, jazz, modern etc. Being a good dancer is more than learning what some1 taught you to do after hours and days of practice.
