As much as I love Mariah, I have to give it up for Ms. Houston. She knows how to deliver a song and her sweat proves it.

Mariah Carey sings, writes, and produces her own material. She's managed to not throw her life or voice away to drugs. She's the most loyal artist in the business when it comes to caring for her fans. The list of organizations that she donates her money to is endless. Miss Carey is truly someone who has used all of her deserved fame in a very positive way.

Hmm okay. The poll simply asks which voice was better in the 90s. Not discuss who sings, writes, does drugs, etc. But whatever.

As a Madonna, Pink, Peaches, Janet, and Killers fan...I reserve the right to make fun of them 24-7. It's just Hollyweird guys.

i can't choose between those two ladies, as i can not choose between christina and beyonce, it's something else whitney is all about power and technics, mariah is all about musicality and sensibility...when she sings

Whitney may have been on drugs and my not write or produce or any of that other bulls**t, but her voice was unmatched by anyone. All I can say is refer to Whitney's version of the Star Spangled Banner which set the STANDARD of excellence for that song and then refer to Mariahs version which is a joke by comparison. Whitney easily wins.

Mariah murders Whitney vocally.

Well the masses must not have been too amazed by Mariahs version of America the beautiful considering how successful the Star Spangled Banner was and how anytime some1 refers back to that song its always conpared to Whitneys version. No1 says "gee that version of America the beautiful was good, but it wasnt like Mariahs" but EVERYONE says "they didnt sing the star spangled banner it like Whitney".

Isn't it obvious that Whitney can sing better, come on now, I love Mariah too, but Whitney is not only a vocalist but a perfromer, she makes you feel the song, even if her voice cracks, that's what makes it soulful and meaningful. Whitney undoubtedly wins this one.

They were both very outstanding vocalists in their early years. I'd have to go for Mariah, though. Whitney could be irritating, such as in "I Will Always Love You", and listen to Mariah's "Vision of Love", "I Don't Wanna Cry", "Make It Happen" or "Anytime You Need a Friend", and you can't help but be impressed. They both liked to show off their vocal ability, sometimes to the detriment of the flow of the song, but I think Mariah was more versatile and genuinely soulful.

Whitney outsung Mariah on When You Believe so I voted for her. She made Mariah sound like J.lo. Mariah didn't know what she was doing on the same record as Whitney.

She made Mariah sound like J.lo. wow...thats just awful, and im sorry, but completely wrong. When they sang that together, they complimented each other very well. Yes, they both tried to outsing each other, but in the end, the song was made BECAUSE both of them CAN sing very well and worked very well together. Whitney did NOT make Mariah look like J-Lo. Thats not even possible, lol. What it did show was that they were very similiar in there stylings. Some people STILL cant tell who is singing which parts unless they are watching the performance/video. Im not saying Mariah was better than Whitney in this song, but i am saying that Whitney did NOT make Mariah look like J.Lo...you need to clean the wax out of your ears buddy. Its hard to compare both Whitney and Mariah because i feel like they are on par with each other. EQUALS.

I thought they both sounded weak on a weak song. I can't vote because I love them both. Sometimes it's Whitney I love more and sometimes it's Mariah. :)
