It's funny how in the same topic that people are talking about how old "Come Clean" is, and then other people are applauding "Meant To Live" for entering the top ten. Old is more a factor of how many times you've heard the song. Switchfoot has been on the chart for ages, but if you've just been hearing the song for the last few weeks, it doesn't seem old. It's going to vary for people. That being said, I was talking about Switchfoot's "Meant to Live" a long long time ago, and although I enjoy the album, I've heard the song plenty by now.

Could "Meant To Live" possibly pull an "Everything You Want" and come out on top for the year despite not hitting #1 (if it actually misses #1 - I guess anything is possible)?

I'm so surprised and elated to find Petey deleted's "Freak-A-Leek" approaching a bullet gain of almost 600 spins. :o Top 10 seems quite possible now. Initially, I didn't think it would do well at pop. But I can see why it has taken off , the beat to the song is rather catchy and commercial. The track really excites me! Also so glad to see the gorgeous and talented Christina Milian make the top 20. I consider the track to be quite a success right now. I love to jam to "Dip It Low." Top 15 would even be more impressive. Uh-Oh for Janet, it seems like she is losing steam somehow. "All Nite (Don't Stop)" is a beautiful song, but there is so much fierce competition on the charts with many upbeated songs gaining reasonably well. At this rate it looks like "The Reason," is going to end up to be the #1 song for 2004. *sigh* "Meant to Live," is a way better rock song that deserves more acclaim than "The Reason," has ever gotten. Go JoJo! "Leave (Get Out)" has been in my head for days. My eleven year old little sister plays the track incessantly. I love it when younger artists like this are given the time of day at the pop format.

Could "Meant To Live" possibly pull an "Everything You Want" and come out on top for the year despite not hitting #1 (if it actually misses #1 - I guess anything is possible)? It's probably too late in the year for that. "MTL" trails "With You" by about 90,000 spins -- and it's only accumulated about 49,000 spins year-to-date as of the end of this week. "This Love" will probably take over the #1 spot sometime in July and hold it until the end of the year. This was as of the 6/4 chart: # Artist Title Spins 1 JESSICA SIMPSON With You 137784 2 OUTKAST The Way You Move 136134 3 OUTKAST Hey Ya 134113 4 NICKELBACK Someday 131145 5 USHER Yeah 129911 6 BRITNEY SPEARS Toxic 127543 7 EVANESCENCE My Immortal 126931 8 MAROON 5 This Love 119339 9 3 DOORS DOWN Here Without You 107113 10 LINKIN PARK Numb 105052 15 HOOBASTANK The Reason 71681 36 SWITCHFOOT Meant To Live 45430 Here, this graph will show a better picture. I bolded the line for "This Love" so you could see it a bit better.

Yeah, "The Reason" will have trouble catching "This Love" by the end of November. But one thing that will work in Hoobastank's favor is that I think the likelihood of the Maroon 5 having another hit is a lot higher than Hoobastank's, so "The Reason" is probably going to drag out a lot longer.
For the record, before the year, I was the only one here that predicted "The Reason" to be the #1 song of 2004.

Well, it looks like Avril got screwed again. JoJo just passed her in the last update and Don't Tell Me is back down to #11. So it looks like that's where it will be peaking! Good, I would have been furious had that become a Top 10 hit. On another note, the Top 10 is showing promise...Burn is going to make a run for the top spot. The bottom four songs (OutKast, Britney, Switchfoot, JoJo) all have nice-sized bullets and these are all songs that will easily make the Top 5. Switchfoot is truly soaring (+502? Wow!) and JoJo is taking off as well with a near-four-digit bullet. Congrats to both on their surprise hits. Mis-Teeq is doing nicely, should at least scrape the bottom of the Top 10. Yellowcard has quite an erratic bullet, but it's back up for the moment, wouldn't be surprised if this one pulled an Avril. Dip It Low is at +436 at #18. I am thinking this one will keep going for another couple of weeks. Good news...the Los Lonely Boys are in the Top 20! Things are looking very bright for them. Unfortunately, I have to say the same for Petey deleted and his piece of crap. Oh well, you can't have everything go your way..

This sucks for Avril! Hopefully she'll atleast have a slow fall.

Most of the bullet increases are probably due to the effect of Memorial Day specials wearing off. But still, that +500 might as well be a +1000 for Switchfoot. This is the first time since January 9 that they'll have even been above +300 for a final update.

Besides, it was a top 10 hit according to billboard, which is >>>> mediabase.

Okay "Freek-A-Leek" is too high... "Tipsy" is not falling fast enough... and "Move Ya Body" needs to stop right now.

Looks like Switchfoot is going to finish the weak with a peak at #9! WAY TO GO!!! :):):):):) I knew the single would do something eventually!
Say hello to our latest Top 20 entry, and it is a Triple A artist! :):):) Los Lonely Boys show no signs of slowing down, and "Heaven" as far as radio standards go is basking upon them with an amazing +372 bullet.
Keep an eye on Trapt! "Echo" is on the rise with a healthy +248 bullet after a slow start. This may wlell duplicate the run of "Headstrong", which had a very slow lethargic run below the Top 30 before charging in high gear.
Also keep an eye on Kenny Chesney and Uncle Kracker! It's been picking up a handful of Adds this week, and may be a suprise mainstream smash from country!
Counting Crows are destined to begin their second decade as a band with a huge smash it seems. With Shrek 2 a massive profiteering hit in theatres and a Top 10 hit on Hot AC, we can expect "Accidentally In Love" to rocket any moment. They're currently at #73.
Call me crazy, but is it possible we may see a phoenix effect for "Away From The Sun"? With its strong run at Hot AC, this may bring 3 Doors Down back aways up the chart. Can this be a single that won't give up that easily?
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Avril's gonna miss the top 10? Sweet! She got just high enough to shut her most ignorant anti-fans up, but not high enough for her obnoxious music to become unavoidable like her horrible first album was. She can have all the #11 hits she wants.
That "-1223" next to "Take My Breath Away" looks really nice.
I hope "Ocean Avenue" can get to about 9 or 10 and then start falling pretty fast.
"Dip it low" needs to slow down because that song is ass.
I had no idea "Everytime" was in the top 10. That song really sucks, too, and so does the video (and I was fine with "Toxic" all along, so no bitching.)
I've never heard this JoJo song, but on the basis of his/her age, I can make a preliminary assumption that it is awful.
It's good to see that Liz Phair and Janet Jackson don't look to do much with their latest songs.
What is "Hotel" still doing on the chart, and how is that not 20 weeks.
"I Miss You" seems to be dropping a lot more rapidly than I expected (hell, I expected it to still be rising). I guess Geffen has better places to dump payola on Blink-182. Good for them.
Is "Away From The Sun" on the rebound or is it "new" here? Their position doesn't really seem right.
God there's a lot of songs here I've never heard, and not very many that I care to hear, either.

Holy crap, Switchfoot is approaching +700 spins :o. Who'da thought that would happen? 22 weeks on and I think this is the largest bullet that the song has seen. Looks like it's far from finished. Maybe it does have a "dark horse" shot at #1? Who knows?

Holy crap, Switchfoot is approaching +700 spins :o. Meh, it was because of last week's Memorial Day weekend. The bullets should be back to normal soon. That being said, it's amazing that Meant to Live has gone this far. I believe I predicted it to peak at #9. I've got to find that thread lol.

Question for anyone who got the final update.
I saved the 5:30 PM update (typically the same as, or extremely close to, the final update, sans recurrent removal) before I went to bed. I hoped to grab the final first thing this morning. Turns out Mediabase had a 2:30 AM update this time around (normally the first Monday update is between 4:00 and 5:00 AM).
Just wanted to know if there were any significant changes between 5:30 and the final, or is that update on target?
Thanks!

Wow...so it's NOT just my station, which likes anything Uncle Kracker. If that's the case I'm pleasantly surprised - country crossovers are less and less likely these days.
