I was just wondering, is Amanda Marshall still a succesful artist in Canada or is she kind of washed up now? Any word on new material since the greatest hits? How did that album and the 2 singles do? Were her other albums particularly succcesful?
I have her "Intermission" collection and the Tuesdays Child album. I hope she still has success in Canada.
Chart peaks and gold/platinum certs for her albums/singles would be nice.

No chart info or anything, but I can personally say I haven't heard a thing from her since she did the Junos in Newfoundland.

She's basically fallen off the face of the earth. She released her singles collection, left (or was dropped from) Sony and hasn't been heard from even by her fans.
As for certifications - these are a bit old but it's something.
Amanda Marshall "Amanda Marshall" Diamond 1 Million Units
Amanda Marshall "Tuesdayβs Child" 3 X Platinum 300,000 Units
Amanda Marshall "Everybody's Got A Story" Platinum 100,000 Units

She was dropped even though her last studio effort went Platinum?Β ??? Well, her contract was up and they released her Greatest Hits album. She wasn't technically dropped but the contract wasn't renewd. And there's hasn't been word about another Record Company being interested in her - so it's very suspicious.

I'm sure when it comes time for her to release her next album, Amanda Marshall will receive full support from Canadian radio. "Everybody Has A Story", her last studio album, did extremely well on pop and Hot AC (even with the shift in sound). I just assumed she was on a break, maybe to write new material. I hope she finds a new record company.

While her last CD was successful on Canadian radio, it wasn't typical Amanda but a drastic change in direction for her. I personally didn't like it as much as her previous two albums and I think that CD hurt her in the long run. I think she'll prolly be back with something soon tho.

I didn't even buy "Everybody Has A Story" though I had her previous CDs. It didn't seem worth it with novelty-sounding songs like "Sunday Morning After".

I thought the singles off her last album were really catchy but I agree with Arson - they had novelty written all over them.

I actually liked her last album. It was different from the first two, but I still enjoyed it. There were a few songs left on the alum that would've made better singles than some of the ones that were released. I'm surprised that we haven't heard something new from her yet.

Amanda Marshall "Amanda Marshall" Diamond 1 Million Units Amanda Marshall "Tuesdayβs Child" 3 X Platinum 300,000 Units Amanda Marshall "Everybody's Got A Story" Platinum 100,000 Units I own all 3... liked her so much back in '97 I even went up to Canada to see her play... quite an amazing vocalist... I also saw her in the states on John Mellencamp's tour... "Fall From Grace" is my favorite song of hers (even was #1 on my 1997 personal chart) though it only charted in the mid 20's here in the US... "Birmingham" got to #16 if memory serves me right... that whole first album is incredible... one of the few albums I own that doesn't have any filler... it's one I've literally listened to 100's of times... it's too bad she didn't have the success here in the States she had in Canada... Diamond in Canada would equate to 10 million sold in the U.S... I hope she releases a 4th album... there are few in the industry with better pipes than Amanda...

I heard a Christmas song from her on the radio this morning. I think it was called "Chillin' For Christmas" (or something like that). I can't say for sure that it was new, but I'd never heard it before.

The most recent news item I've found is that she performed at Toronto's Elgin Theatre on December 5th for the 4th Annual It's Always Something Variety Show to benefit Gilda's Club. I wonder if anyone there asked her if she is working on a new album.

I don't remember her album names or anything like that but I can recall quite a few songs - I believe in you, let it rain, everybody's got a story.....okay so three songs. I've still heard I believe in you a few times on radio recently

Amanda is caught in a label war, she has NOT be able to make any new music, until the courts come to terms over song rights.. Pure GREED, these record company's played with her imagine, then have just dragged it out. She beloved in Canada AND WILL BE BACK > ..

I saw her live a couple of years ago, and she still sounded pretty good. She didn't say anything about new music, though.

I was in love with Amanda back in the day...LOVED and purchased her debut album. I remember her saying that one of her favorite artists was P!nk, but that was a few years ago. :) According to her Wiki page, it says that she'll release new music in 2013. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dgv5pXpEupE
