i know there was a thread in the r&b section for this but from what i am hearing it may not be pushed at that format. it has got 2 plays as of 2am this morning on media base chr/pop list ranking at #262. also tamyra's official site added a bunch of radio stations to its front page to call in for "raindrops will fall' . those were stations from top 40, hot adult contemporary and adult contemporary format. i have heard the song will be going for adds from tom ennis of "19 records" on july 5th. it is not officially listed anywhere for that day so we will see.

This will bomb at CHR/Pop. They'd be much better trying to get her a stable career at Urban AC where her music actually fits in.

I was wondering what happened to this song. It seems that 19 really dropped the ball on Tamyra. Even though I've only heard this song once in full, it seemed pretty good.
Personally, I could see Tamyra having her career skyrocket like Mariah's did in the early 90s; but with a lax record company who relies on one cheezy show to promote their artists - I don't think that'll happen...

This song's gonna blow up off Tamyra's name alone! No it's not. If anything, being associated with American Idol will hurt her. Pop radio is already more than fully saturated with Idol contestants. Kimberley Locke entered the top 40 this week, and Kelly Clarkson will next week. Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Fantasia, and Diana DeGarmo have all had their most recent singles flop at pop radio. None has even come close to the top 50. It's going to be no different for Tamyra Gray. --DanG

Something funny hapened on the way to the forum......Tamyra appears to have lost everything that made her unique including her voice. This efort, like all the others on her cd are average at their very best. There is nothing unique other than their forgettability. Tamyra was an overachiever on AI but under the harsh light of the real competition on the biggest charts in the world she folded like a cheap chair. Nikki McKibben deserved to finish ahead of Tamyra and I think if she ever gets an album made it will at least feature something interesting and unique and no matter how bad it is will fare better than this potted plant. Tamyra made an album full of corrugated cardboard pots of gold and rainbows.....blah. Tamyra Out!

I don't see any Myras in Ruben, Clay, Fantasia, or Diana's names. Ta myra has both AI recognition and the name of a fellow successful artist. Miracles happen, and Tamyra will have a hit! Go Tamyra! (Though I'm sure Tamyra doesn't need a miracle to score a pop smash! She already believed! :)) :taps foot and throws down newspaper:

Nikki McKibbin's material would be "unique" in the way that William Hung's is. She didn't deserve to make the top 10, let alone #3. Anyway, if Mariah Carey's "Through The Rain" couldn't do much at Pop, this won't even come close to charting. There are some good, interesting, radio-friendly songs on the album (The Only Thing, Legend, Faces), but 19 is too stupid to think of releasing them.

Are you sure? My adds data is only based on the R&R thing, and all that proves is that she wasn't in the top 5 most added and she's not in new & active top 5....

If it was the early nineties. This song would have no problem being a top 10 hit at CHR! Perhaps even going to #1. Tamyra reminds me so much of early day Whitney Houston.
Now we have a lot of the 'airhead' rhythmic tunes (Yes I like many of them) clogging up radio airwaves. Very unfortunate and quite sad that a song like this couldn't garner a single pop add today.
This song is so beautiful and amazing. I feel extremely bad that I overlooked it. The lyrics are phenomenal, it really suits what I'm going through right now.

I totally agree....how radio can play that terrible Nelly song over and over and not even give this incredible track a chance is beyond me. Power Ballads this good have their place on pop radio. Callout research confirms this....now if only PD's would wake up and accept this fact.

I'm sure you'd also agree with me on that one. ;)

19 really dropped the ball on this song. They should've started a slow build on this song starting in the couple weeks before the AI finale (starting with urban ac and urban, then ac and hot ac, and finally the chr formats).
Hopefully this can still manage to break through, cause even though I've only heard it a few times, it's a good song. Reminds me somewhat of early Mariah.

I said early Whitney before. Her style is very similar to those divas. I just bought Tamyra's album "The Dreamer" today and I'm about to put it on. I'm so excited! God bless Tamyra for encouraging people to follow their dreams and to never to give up. She is such a positive role model. The music industry is so fortunate to have her.

mmm... can't believe this... 19 really had a chance to make a star out of Tamyra... with a little effort this could have been a pretty big smash ath Urban AC (at least it did alright there) and AC... and maybe even a respectable showing at CHR... but they waited more than a month after her album was dropped to release the song with no video. Plus, The Dreamer had plenty more tracks that could have truly made an impact on radio... what a waste.

19 should have learned from kelly clarkson's career. u can not have a ballad as a front single.... it just doesnt' work that way. "miss independent" had the wow factor, and that has helped kelly become the superstar that she is now.
i downloaded tamyra's cd (only because it was not sold anywhere here in canada), and i think she had beter songs in the album. i especially luved "good ol' days" and "17". those songs could have been better singles. tamyra will have trouble with her career tho; there's just way too many femal RnB artists right now, and u have to be absolutely amazing to stand out.

Which is a shame, because she is absolutely amazing. I think she really needs to step back from the writing - the only song that I think would've done well off her album was "Faces" (that's not to say there weren't other high quality songs, cause there were). Kelly was smart that way - she handled a little bit here and there, but left it to the pros (though how much of that was by choice is a valid question).

ya, kelly had a smart start. and the cool thing about her new album is that it shows that she is starting to take control of her own career. she wrote 6 of 11 tracks, while she only wrote lik 3 or 4 from the first one. tamyra's mistake is that she wrote almost all the songs in her album when the credibility factor isn't there yet.

and I have said before alot of Tamyra's fans have said "Legend" would have been a good choice for a single as well. Though it is good to see "Raindrops Will Fall" it has done well at uac going top 15 . In another week according to Mediabase it will pass 10,000 in total spins . also being top 10 with the remix on the dance club chart on billboard shows Tamyra can have sucess in that field as well.
