MASSIVE! 😮 Last year she reached #1 on the global chart on Dec 13th! While it will be 2nd I think to the ungodly song it will have multiple weeks at #1 after this week I still have hope she might take it this week. It’s super close. Final predictions have Taylor vs Mariah by one point difference. Xmas songs usually do better than predicted with Billboard final numbers.🤞

I went back to earlier in this thread to check and see how many streams this did in it's last week at #1 earlier this year. This song is on a good pace this season. I wonder if it can reach that 40 million stream mark?

Why is the airplay much higher at this point and it's just early December? Does it have something to do with the recent change in Billboard airplay or that stations are playing Xmas songs sooner than ever?

I noticed people keep concentrating on those Spotify numbers because they are public access, but don't realize the power of AM and Amazon during the holiday season. Those two streaming services get underestimated by many people and are probably the top two driving forces behind AIWFCIY lead in streaming numbers.

Why is the airplay much higher at this point and it's just early December? Does it have something to do with the recent change in Billboard airplay or that stations are playing Xmas songs sooner than ever? Yeah since Billboard now uses Mediabase panels, which were a bit more extensive than Billboard, general audience impressions are higher (i.e. Mediabase totals were always higher than Billboard). I noticed people keep concentrating on those Spotify numbers because they are public access, but don't realize the power of AM and Amazon during the holiday season. Those two streaming services get underestimated by many people and are probably the top two driving forces behind AIWFCIY lead in streaming numbers. Spotify for sure gets more attention and value because we get daily numbers. Having said that, Spotify is also much larger for holiday songs than Apple music, so Mariah's lead on Apple Music likely doesn't make up the difference on Spotify. "AIWFCIY" is also ahead on Amazon, but since "RATCT" is right behind "AIWFCIY" there it's hard to know what kind of gap exists. For me the general worry is that "RATCT" has been taking over on Spotify earlier and earlier in the season each year, and "RATCT" has never been this close to "AIWFCIY" in streaming this early in the season. This past Hot 100 "RATCT" gained more overall than "AIWFCIY," so logically if that were to keep happening then "RATCT" could pass it. It seems like Sony is putting some work into "AIWFCIY" this week to ensure the #1, though. (For the record I'm not a fan of tricks, but it is what it is I guess. Plus the iTunes discount is actually just leveling the playing field between "RATCT" and "AIWFCIY.") Also continues at #1 on YouTube for English language vids: It should also be noted this is purely for the new video released in 2019 and does not include views for the original videos (the home video footage one and the black and white video), the celebrity sing along video, etc. All of those count toward the Hot 100, though. So far this season, these are the totals for "AIWFCIY" in terms of its Hot 100 stats: Streams - 65.8 million streams Sales - 9,900 That equates to roughly 450k for RIAA purposes, except that some of those streams could be filtered out by the RIAA if they aren't on demand streams. Still, this season "AIWFCIY" has likely added at least 400k to its RIAA total.

At this point I’d think “AIWFCIY”is the highest certified single by a woman worldwide. I knew “Candle in the Wind 1997” was huge, but it was even bigger than I thought. I knew “Uptown Funk” was popular, but it’s wild how Shape of You” was also monstrous worldwide. Some stats:
“Candle in the Wind 1997” - 11x platinum US, 9x platinum UK, 14x platinum Australia, 19x platinum Canada, ?2x platinum? Japan, 9x platinum Germany “Shape of You” - 10x platinum US, 9x platinum UK, 17x platinum Australia, 10x platinum Canada, 1x platinum Japan, 11x gold Germany “Bohemian Rhapsody” - 10x platinum US, 8x platinum Australia, 7x platinum Canada, Gold Japan, Gold Germany “Uptown Funk” - 11x platinum US, 6x platinum UK, 22x platinum Australia, 10x platinum Canada, Gold Japan, 1x platinum Germany “Old Town Road” - 17x platinum, 4x platinum UK, 15x platinum Australia, 10x platinum Canada, none Japan, Diamond Germany “AIWFCIY” - 10x platinum US, 6x platinum UK, 9x platinum Australia, 10x platinum Canada, ?millions? Japan, 2x platinum Germany “I Will Always Love You” - 10x platinum US, 2x platinum UK, 4x platinum Australia, none Canada (?), 5x platinum Japan, 1x platinum Germany “Rolling in the Deep” - 8x platinum US, 4x platinum UK, 7x platinum Australia, 10x platinum Canada, none Japan, 1x platinum Germany
So, “AIWFCIY” will be ahead of them all in the US when it gets properly certified. It still has work to do in the UK, Australia, and Germany. Japan is hard to say because it looks like there are different certs for the physical single and then newer releases (digital I guess?), but “AIWFCIY” is definitely looking good there. I also could have missed some songs that are up there with these.

From Billboard: Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ Returns to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100
The 1994 modern classic leads five holiday hits in the top 10, plus two new top 10s from Metro Boomin.
By Gary Trust
Like Santa setting off on his annual airborne sleigh ride, Mariah Carey makes her ascent back to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The modern carol logs its ninth total week atop the Hot 100 and becomes the first song to have led in four distinct runs on the ranking.
The song was first released on Carey’s album Merry Christmas in 1994 and, as streaming has grown and holiday music has become more prominent on streaming services’ playlists, it hit the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time in December 2017 and the top five for the first time in the 2018 holiday season, before reigning over the holidays in 2019 (for three weeks), 2020 (two) and 2021 (three).
Here’s a deeper look at Carey’s latest Hot 100 coronation with “Christmas,” on Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings.
Streams, airplay & sales: “Christmas” drew 36.2 million streams (up 19%) and 29.9 million radio airplay audience impressions (up less than 1%) and sold 6,000 downloads (up 23%) in the U.S. in the Dec. 2-8 tracking week, according to Luminate.
The song holds for a 17th total week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart and No. 7 on Digital Song Sales and rises 23-17 on Radio Songs. It also crowns the multi-metric Holiday 100 chart for a 54th week, of the chart’s 59 total weeks since the list launched in 2011. It has topped the tally for 39 consecutive weeks, dating to the start of the 2015-16 holiday season, and rules as the top title on the Greatest of All Time Holiday 100 Songs chart.
No. 1 in a fourth separate chart run: Carey’s “Christmas” first topped the Hot 100 dated Dec. 21, 2019, and led again on the next two lists, dated Dec. 28, 2019, and Jan. 4, 2020.
The following holiday season, it returned to No. 1 on the chart dated Dec. 19, 2020, and, after a week at No. 2, topped the Jan. 2, 2021-dated tally.
As “Christmas” returned to rule the Dec. 25, 2021-dated chart, it became the first song in the Hot 100’s now-64-year history to lead in three distinct chart runs. It held atop the charts dated Jan. 1 and 8, 2022, and now becomes the first title to have led in four separate stays on the ranking.
Longest span atop the Hot 100: Carey’s “Christmas” extends the longest span from a song’s first week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 to its latest: three years (Dec. 21, 2019-Dec. 17, 2022).
Plus, the latest week atop the Hot 100 for “Christmas” extends Carey’s record for the longest span of an artist ranking at No. 1 on the chart: 32 years, four months and three weeks, dating to her first week at No. 1 on the list dated Aug. 4, 1990, with her debut single “Vision of Love.”
Notably, when “Christmas” first hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2019, Carey passed Cher, whose solo leaders span 27 years and five months, from “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves” (from its first week at No. 1 in 1971) through “Believe” (through its last week on top in 1999). (If Cher’s career as half of duo Sonny & Cher were combined with her solo output, her No. 1 span would cover 33 years, seven months and two weeks, from the twosome’s “I Got You Babe,” which hit the top spot in 1965, through “Believe.”)
Most weeks at No. 1 for a holiday hit: With its ninth week atop the Hot 100, Carey’s “Christmas” expands its record for the most time at No. 1 for a holiday song. The only other seasonal single to lead, “The Chipmunk Song,” by David Seville & the Chipmunks, spent four weeks at No. 1 beginning in December 1958.
Carey’s record 88th week atop Hot 100: With “Christmas,” Carey adds her record-extending 88th week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception.
Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot 100: 88, Mariah Carey 60, Rihanna 59, The Beatles 54, Drake 50, Boyz II Men 47, Usher 43, Beyoncé 37, Michael Jackson 34, Adele 34, Elton John 34, Bruno Mars
“Christmas” became Carey’s 19th Hot 100 No. 1, the most among soloists and one away from The Beatles’ overall record 20. It also made Carey the first artist to have ranked at No. 1 on the chart in four distinct decades, dating to her first week at the summit with “Vision of Love.”
