Alright, let's play a game. I'll list a song, you give your prediction for its peak (and commentary if you so desire). Once the songs have peaked, I'll score your peak like this...the difference between your projected peak and the real peak. If you predict #13, and it lands #16, you get 3 points, for example. If you predict that a song doesn't chart and it does, you get 10 penalty points plus the difference between its peak and 50 (so if it peaks at #31, you get 19 points plus 10 penalty points, resulting in 29 points for that song). If a song on the list peaks outside of the Top 50, it is disqualified and will not count in the scoring process. You CANNOT[[/u] edit your peaks! Let's get started!

If a song on the list peaks outside of the Top 50, it is disqualified and will not count in the scoring process. You CANNOT[ [/u] edit your peaks! Let's get started![/quote] This doesn't sound right. There should be a penalty for predicting a song peaking in the Top 50 if it doesn't, because right now, there's no point of predicting a song would not chart, since there's no advantage of doing so even if it doesn't chart.

BlahBlahBlah...the reason I said they don't count originally is because I'm never awake when the final update comes along on Mediabase...but now I'm realizing how stupid my thinking was because I'll know if it doesn't chart by seeing what R & R posts. I am dumb, LOL. Anyway, scratch the rule I made about songs not charting not counting, and apply this one...if a song doesn't chart and you predict it does, 10 point penalty and the difference between 50 and your prediction. Sorry about that guys.
Anyway, predicrtions end Sunday night at 11 EDT. Get yours in now!

Kevin Lyttle: "Turn Me On": #3 (There's not much in the way for Kevin not to peak higher than his current #7 position. I believe Ashlee Simpson will hold him back from #1, however, and Jojo may be too far away for him to go #2.
Ashlee Simpson: "Pieces of Me": #1 (Our next #1 hit is all but certain to be this. The bullet is strong, the appeal is there thanks to her sister's recent fame, and it looks like she will eclipse Kevin Lyttle for the front-runner.)
Usher: "Confessions: Part II": #4 (I don't think he has enough juice to get another Top 3 smash. Since he still is well above fast-pacers below the Top 10 like Alicia Keys and Maroon 5, he may hang tight until Hoobastank falls below him and go Top 5. But, by the time he tries to make further progress upward, both Alicia and Maroon 5 may trample him.
Nina Sky: "Move Ya Body": #5 (It might be #6, but I think Christina Milian will lose her bullet very shortly and fall quickly.)
Alicia Keys: "If I Ain't Got You": #9 (She's pretty well certain to break into the Top 10 now, though she'll probably only have a brief appearance in there. Maroon 5 is looking to eclipse her on the race up there, and Juvenile is coming up fast.
Maroon 5: "She Will Be Loved": #1 (After Ashlee Simpson, it's going to be Maroon 5 in our look at #1 hits ahead. They're a band with so much buzz surrounding them right now, and this ballad has hit written all over it. My guess is Ashlee Simpson will be on top for four weeks, then it's Maroon 5's turn...again.
D12: "How Come": #14 (I don't see this hanging on long enough to go Top 10. However, though Avril and Juvenile will likely eclipse them, they can take advantage of Mis-Teeq, Maroon 5, Usher, Los Lonely Boys and Britney Spears and peak higher.)
Avril Lavigne: "My Happy Ending": #7(This is kind of a hesitation guess. We have seen what has happened to so many young stars who had strong showings on CHR/Pop two-three years ago (Michelle Branch, Pink, Nelly Furtado). However, Avril did show some resilience and made the Top 10 briefly off her first single. I personally am optimistic here and think this will perform superior to "Don't Tell Me", though I still think she's far from her height's hayday.)
Juvenile: "Slow Motion": #11 (I think this will slow down once it enters the Top 20. I don't exactly see this being a Top 10 Pop smash.)
Nickelback: "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good": #26 (This single looks doomed. Its bullet is weak, plus there are a number of better-bulleted singles coming up fast behind them, including "My Place" and "One Thing".)
Black Eyed Peas: "Let's Get It Started": #9 (Sounds like another Top 10 hit for them. I'm optimistic it may also well be theird third Top-10 in four tries off "Elephunk")
Finger Eleven: "One Thing": #15 (I truly am feeling this. I truly think Finger Eleven can pull off the next Fuel move and make a sleeper hit off of this like "Falls On Me" did for them early this year. Not enough buzz surrounding the band to push this Top 10, but stranger things have happened.)
Ryan Cabrera: "On The Way Down": #22 (This is a tough one. On the plus side, Ashlee Simpson is providing a huge promotional push for him for starring in the video. Other than that, it's a mystery. The buzz will probably push him to some length, but you can only go so far when you're in the familiar league with Sister Hazel, Nine Days and Dexter Freebish.)
Nelly f/ Jaheim: "My Place": #1 (This is almost a no-brainer. It's Nelly (and no, this is not another re-mix single). "My Place" will be for "Sweat" like "Dilemma" was for "Nellyville". Expect this to hit #1 after Maroon 5 commandeer the top of the pops for three weeks or so.)
Houston f/ Chingy/Nate Dogg/I-20: "I Like That": #21 (I'll be a more pessimistic one here. Though it's doing quite well on CHR/Rhythmic, it's not doing much on Urban. Usually you have to have both sister market forces working together to produce a CHR/Pop smash. When one piece is missing, it'll limit the singles utmost potential. With that said, this collaborative effort will be limited in play.)
Lloyd Banks: "On Fire": #17 (I figured originally Lloyd Banks could very well be the next 50 Cent because of...well...50 Cent promoting him. But this lead single couldn't necessarily get him front and center, so this single will probably peak to the left of it.)
Shifty: "Slide Along Side": #35 (I barely know anything about his solo project here. All I know is that the No Doubt guitarist worked with him a lot here. With that said, I just think he lacks the promotional buzz right now.)
Counting Crows: "Accidentally In Love": #21 (And this is an optimistic guess, assuming with "Shrek 2" a massive hit and its Top 5 performance at Hot AC they'll treat this more openly. This single should be able to best "Big Yellow Taxi". If this song pushed for more Adds, this could very well go Top 20 even. It's a smash on Hot AC, but if Pop stations don't pick this up soon, they'll be denying this potential smash like they did with Live's "Heaven")
Lil Flip: "Sunshine": #23 (This should do fairly well, considering its balanced success in the Urban markets. Don't expect a Summer smash status here, though)
Britney Spears: "Outrageous": #16 (This single's not off to that strong of a start. I think it'll best Jessica Simpson's fourth single, but this will be a more forgotten single of hers.)
Kimberley Locke: "Wrong": #38 (This single's in bad shape to me. She's on a particularly low profile right now, overshadowed by other American Idol finalists, and this will go virtually unnoticed.)
Modest Mouse: "Float On": #30 (This #1 Alternative smash is just too weird for mainstream still. Expect a "Like A Stone" kind of chart run here.)
Lloyd/Ashanti: "Southside": #35 (It's going Top 10 on both sister markets, but this is not quite a strong collaborative effort. Lloyd has a ways to go to establish him fully and Ashanti has went downhill in her fame status.)
Linkin Park: Breaking the Habit: #5 (I've said it before and I'll say it again. They sure know how to dramatically close an album's promotional run! "In The End" was a smash mega-hit final single from their debut, now "Breaking the Habit" may be looking to do the same. Unlike all other Linkin Park singles, a lot of previous LP bashers actually love this single (I'm one of them) and this will really make this work.)
Seether f/ Amy Lee: "Broken": #19 (This single's just too stale to go Top 10...period. Expect a run very similar to Staind's "So Far Away", another single which could have went Top 10 had it been released much sooner.)
Ciara f/ Petey deleted: Goodies: #24 (Strong muscles on CHR/Rhythmic, weaker ones on Urban. Petey deleted is getting some exposure, but not enough to save this from being a bona-fide smash.)
Franz Ferdinand: "Take Me Out": #39 (Another awesome single, one of the best of 2004, that deserves to be a hit. However, like "Float On" and "Talk Shows on Mute", this is just TOO good for mainstream radio. Expect this to creep onto the lower reaches of the chart like The Darkness did early this year before sliding off.
Dashboard Confessional: "Vindicated": #27 (Though they haven't ever had a history beyond Alternative, they have recorded one of their strongest charting hits ever on Alternative, and, with "Spider Man 2" backing the hits promotional efforts, this should also pull a smaller Yellowcard mainstream.)
Terror Squad/Fat Joe/Remy: "Lean Back": #7 (I'm just a bit suprised at most of the estimations made for this so far. I agree that it does sound quite Urban for mainstream, but considering it's been exploding at both urban and CHR/Rhythmic, it's almost inevitable it'll explode here too. It's already going to go #1 at Urban, Top 5 at CHR/Rhythmic, and it'll very well likely have the same kind of performance here because of the buzz.)
Bowling For Soup: "1985":#49: (This is not going to do virtually anything at all. I think Bowling for Soup is being depicted as a novelty band with the hit "Girl All The Bad Guys Want" and now I feel their future is reduced to a number of Gavin DeGraw type of peaks on the lower reaches of the chart.)
Kelly Clarkson: "Breakaway": #24 (I'm being more pessimistic here. Kelly Clarkson showed lackluster runs on her previous two singles, and now that she's competing with Fantasia and other Idols, she is losing her status quo mainstream.)
Kanye West: "Jesus Walks": (Will Not Chart) (The best I could see this do is go New & Active. Beautiful song from a wonderful, underappreciated artist, but it just doesn't sound like a hit.)
Mase--Welcome Back: (Will Not Chart) (I don't have much to say here. They are far from the limelight and I don't see what can launch this.)
Train: "Ordinary": (Will Not Chart) (This Train single sounds too unordinary even for themselves. Just like "When I Look to the Sky", this will go overlooked as it is too good for mainstream.)
Toby Lightman: "Real Love": #41 (A lot of high hopes on this single. I, myself, am more pessimistic and believe she has not yet established herself well enough and this early indicator of adds coming in is just wishful thinking.)
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Alright, time's up for your predictions! (psst... if you put down your predix before I wake up Mon. morning, which will be fairly late...I might let you in... but ya gotta hurry...)Here's who's in:
TheMusicMan chebingeo jimmy74747 rowellfarm490 Ragin SingingSparrow BlahBlahBlah someguy Kyle82 irice22 Jersey Boy jaxxalude KiKiMets Matt4319 The Rebirth Experience Mega248 JCMF3
Alright, so here's how it's gonna work. Every Wednesday, I'll check out the charts. If a song has peaked, I'll score your peaks and show y'all the scores as I get them. This'll go on until all the songs have peaked, at which point we'll have our final scores and know who the Miss Cleo of PMB is! ;) Good luck...

Hopefully this can still get in...
So what is the incentive of predicting WNC? If the song doesn't hit the top 50, it is disqualified and not counted, right? So how does a WNC prediction from a person get any points for the contest? Hence, I will vote #50 for the songs I think will not chart.

I guess you would get 0 points if you predict a WNC and it doesn't chart, but you'd lose points if it does chart. From TheMusicMan's quote: ...if a song doesn't chart and you predict it does, 10 point penalty and the difference between 50 and your prediction.

JCMF3, you got in just in time.
I'm embarrassed to say I didn't think about that before...I guess if you predict WNC and it doesn't chart, you get 0 points. However, you'd lose points if it does indeed chart, or you predict it charts and it doesn't.

As I stated in my post, please take my #50 predictions as WNC predictions. I would edit the post, but I don't want to be disqualified.

You can edit it in this case...since you're not actually changing your predictions and you have my permission :)
