DROPPER: OutKast - Hey Ya! (from 39)
NOTES/COMMENTARY: [/li][li] 3 Doors Down hits the big 5-0. Ryan takes note to mention it. [/li][li] Umm...where's "My Happy Ending"? It's at #25 on the equivalent R&R Recurrentless chart. Shouldn't it have debuted by now? Meanwhile, "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" (#55 recurrentless) gets a top 40 slot. Other than that bizarre discrepancy, the chart looks, more or less, okay. Guess Avril will be a big debut next week. [/li][li] Ryan touted Lindsay Lohan's song as a "world premiere." [/li][li] As an intro to Nina Sky, it was mentioned that the last set of identical twin sisters to chart was Kim and Kelly Deal of The Breeders (who charted back in 1994 with "Cannonball"). [/li][li] JoJo is, now, the youngest solo female to top the pop chart. The previous record holder is Little Peggy March, who was 15 when "I Will Follow Him" hit #1 in 1963.

Oh I finally listened to the countdown last weekend. It sounds like a Hollywood Hamilton countdown.

It sounds like a Hollywood Hamilton countdown. Does it? I've never heard Hollywood's show.

I'm kind of glad "My Happy Ending" didn't debut yet, so we know there will be a boost in spins for her coming up!

I certainly hope next week "My Happy Ending" knocks out "Dirt Off Your Shoulder," "Here Without You," or "Numb." I wish they had played "Crazy In Love" or "Me, Myself, And I" instead of "Baby Boy" as an extra.

Oh I finally listened to the countdown last weekend. It sounds like a Hollywood Hamilton countdown. I've mentioned that before. :) I remember back when I first heard the Rhythm Countdown with Ellen K, I thought it was a rip of American Top 40 -- the format was nearly identical, it just sounded more upbeat. Then I listened through the credits, and heard many of the same staff members. Then I was a Guest DJ on that show, got in contact with AT40 staff yadda yadda yadda and the rest they say is history! But AT40 went way overboard. If AT40 had to change, I wish it would've been more like The Rhythm Countdown, which now, is unfortunately defunct. I'm not a fan of Hollywood Hamilton. His countdown is just too bizarre for me. Odd songs make the chart, little chart history is presented, and the whole show is an odd mish-mash. AT40 is still more coherent than HH30, but sounds awfully similar! Ellen K's Rhythm Countdown was one of Premiere's "lesser known" shows, and I greatly miss it.

How long Has "Someday" been on? Didn't that debut around the same time as HWY?

How long Has "Someday" been on? Didn't that debut around the same time as HWY? 42 weeks. As soon as "Here Without" falls out of the Top 40, "Someday" will be the song that's been on the survey the longest. Also, Ryan mentioned that Finger Eleven used to call themselves Rainbow Butt Monkey. :)

I think you meant AT40. Just because you are not in favor of the changes doesn't mean it's not AT40.

I used to listen to Ellen K early in the morning back when I lived in New Mexico. It came on the El Paso station KPRR. I loved it. Even though most of the songs weren't rhythmic (Britney Spears somehow managed to make top 30) it was still a good countdown.

Because Avril doesn't appeal to Rhythmic stations which is what the focus on this show is gearing towards now. Also explains why Juvenile debuted so quickly. It certainly doesn't explain Finger Eleven and Trapt, both not Rhythmic and lower on the R&R chart than Avril is now, being on the AT40/RST40 chart ahead of her. Also, what about all the Rock songs that were big hits late last year and early this year? They're still hanging around. Maybe Ryan doesn't like Avril's new single.

Maybe Ryan doesn't like Avril's new single. I doubt that Ryan, Rick and Casey have very little say about the charts and what gets played. Like most talent, they probably go in, do their jobs, and forget about it until they have to do it again.

Actually, I was being facetious.
It just doesn't really make sense that Avril hasn't cracked the chart yet. Maybe this coming week.

Lindsay Lohan a world premiere...whoopee...big deal. I wish Premiere would make an AT20 Alternative version so I wouldn't have to deal with this mess of a show week after week. Hell, they have AC and Hot AC, why not bridge into other formats? (Rhetorical question)

I wish Premiere would make an AT20 Alternative version... Well, Westwood One has Out Of Order. It's the top 20 from R&R's Alternative chart (albeit, mixed up a bit). I suppose that's as close as you're gonna get. Hell, they have AC and Hot AC, why not bridge into other formats? I don't know about other formats, but there's been a Country version of AT40 for about 25 years now... American Country Countdown. Casey and Don Bustany co-created it, so I'd say it officially counts as a spin-off.

I think the new AT40 double-counts spins from its affiliate stations, just like Carson does with his Most Requested National List. So it's not surprising that Avril hasn't debuted yet, but Juvenile has. It wasn't a conscious evil effort on Ryan Seacrest's part to keep Avril off his show.

I think the new AT40 double-counts spins from its affiliate stations, I thought AT40's chart was compiled exclusively from AT40 affiliates' airplay (at least that's what all the explanations I've heard sound like). What's double-counting?
