Discuss on air flubs whether live, syndicated programming, voicetracking, etc. Long, weird and disappointing story here, On Saturday 12/2/06 my semilocal Hollywood Hamilton Weekend Top 30 affiliate KPMW Wild 105.5 on Maui apparently played the show from 11/25/06 which was Thanksgiving weekend. I've noticed that stations in Hawaii don't play this week's show and plays the previous week's one instead, way too often. On Saturday 12/9/06 KPMW really messed up the show. The show begins at 11:00 AM. They played a commercial break followed by playing "Since U Been Gone". Then another commercial break. Then they play "Sugar We're Goin' Down" and "I Write Sins Not Tragedies". Then another commercial break. At 11:20 the show finally begins but it begins at #27 Ay Chico (Lengua Afuera): Pitbull followed by #26 Let's Ride: The Game. But you know something? That was the show from TWO WEEKS AGO! >:( "Let's Ride" came to an end and Hollywood Hamilton was doing an interview with The Game but it was abruptly stopped :o so KPMW could run this week's show (12/9) beginning with #25 Pitbull, #24 Money In The Bank: Lil Scrappy f//Young Buck, and #23 Buttons: Pussycat Dolls f/Snoop Dogg. The segment comes to an end with no local commercials and guess what? KPMW runs that same segment #25, 24 and 23 AGAIN! By now it's close to 12:00 Noon so they skip #22 and 21 . Noon comes around and they continue with the top 20. Well that's all I heard of this week's show on KPMW I had to go to work. I tried to call KPMW but no answer the phone just kept ringing. I hear the rest of the show Sunday on my local affiliate KDDB 102.7 Da Bomb. More stories to come.

I've read stories about stations not being able to play a syndicated countdown properly (including an employee asleep on the job), and you can find examples of radio station mistakes or technical difficulties in various topics I have started.

Saturday 12/16/06 KPMW started the Hollywood Hamilton Weekend Top 30 on time, things were running smoothly until after segment 3 of hour 1 came to an end. It was #25 "Buttons", #24 "Ay Chico (Lengua Afuera)" and #23 "Money In The Bank." They repeated the segment again, and then skipped #22 and 21 just so the 2nd hour of the show would begin at noon. It's a real big coincidence whoever is manning the controls that person likes Pitbull.

KPRR, a rhythm station in El Paso, used to play the Rhythm top 30, and they would only play like songs #30-#24 or something and air an older show for the rest. They did it for many weeks. I think it was because RT30 played songs like Ashley Ballard's "Hottie" and Britney Spears' "Stronger" and KPRR didn't want to play them, so they played an older show.

Basically the same scenario for the THIRD week in a row. I call but no answer. I'll try to give Ryan P, the morning personality (he's a nice guy, I've spoke with him before) a call on Tuesday to get him to take a look into the situation to end this nonsense.

nearly every week WQIK in Jacksonville screws up Country Top 40, before Bob started this show they would constantly screw up American Country Countdown. Staticy half segments that skip constantly, missing segments, segments being repeated, etc.
And then there was Dec. 31, 2005 and Jan 1, 2006. Bobs new show is to debut, and air at 6am Saturday. At 6am Saturday Country Countdown USA begins....for one hour. Followed by the final 3 hours of CT40. Yes, thats correct; they screwed up the very first episode of Bob's new show which was the year end chart no less. To make matters worse, they ran the exact same thing that Sunday night at 8pm. And the kicker in all this, Sunday nights as I found out later was supposed to remain American Country Countdown.
Anyone who visits the AT40 Fun and Games message boards and has gone their semi regularly over the last several years knows my feelings on this station. They are THE WORST affiliate of any radio show ever!

Because they ran segment 3 of hour 1 twice again the show was running late and when it was time to play the last segment of the show- #1, they didn't even play it. Instead they went straight into Rick Dees, the next program on the schedule.

Back when Casron's Top 10 was on, one time Y100 played the same show for like 4 nights in a row.

Saturday January 13 On KPMW, THE HALO HALO SHOW with CECILLE PIROS actually ended early well before 11AM so The Weekend Top 30 started very early as I was surprised. She mentioned she had to run an errand. But the countdown on air was last week's show. (They never got it).
Sunday January 14 On KDDB they skipped #27 and 26 (Hour 1, Segment 2) on The Weekend Top 30.

I remember listening to WIOQ a while ago. They speed up all of thier songs 3%...so I'm listening to a commerical that I heard a dozen times before, only it sounds ALOT different now. I relize it's being sped up and not by just 3%. The announcer sounded like a chipmunk...it kept airing the next commericals in this fashion and even the station ID was sped up and so was the song played after. I think the mistake was relized at this point, becuase the song slowed down tremendously about 30 seconds into it.

Sunday February 4 On KSSK during the Magic Of The 80s radio show which is on at 10 PM, the 1st hour had 12 songs. They were running a little behind probably because of the PSAs that KSSK plays a lot. Madonna "La Isla Bonita" had just finished and host Tom Furci was just about to introduce the next song and it was abrubtly cut off. But not before I heard the opening note of Boz Scaggs "Heart Of Mine." KSSK quickly went to station ID and continued on to Hour 2 of the show, this was at 11:05 PM. The 2nd hour had only 10 songs played so the show ended early at 11:57 PM. Go figure.

Sunday February 11 On KSSK they were running a little behind again and at 11:55 PM they played the Magic Of The 80s jingle to mention it was going for local commercials but it was cut off in mid sentence which was weird. The local commercials ended but KSSK played "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan which was obviously not part of the show. KSSK skipped the last two songs on the show!

Sunday 3/25/07 ON KMYI/San Diego they skipped a couple of segments on American Top 20 with Casey Kasem. I think some stations do that on purpose. Mix 96.9 in Phoenix runs Casey's show every Sunday, and I've noticed that they edit out some songs from the show that aren't on the station's playlist. I hate it when they do that. It should be illegal!

Here's one big screw-up from many years ago:
A station in Phoenix was airing their nightly love-song dedication show, and they were experiencing some technical problems. Finally, there was about 30 seconds of dead-air silence, when all of a sudden the D.J. shouted into the mic, "OH F--K!!!"
I don't know if the D.J. was reprimanded, but he was still on the air for at least a year after that happened.

Weekend of 4/14/07,
On my local Hollywood Hamilton Weekend Top 30 affiliate, KDDB played the show from two weeks ago (3/31/07). Meanwhile on Maui KPMW had the correct show.

My stations (WFBE, WCEN) sometimes mess up their countdowns (American Country Countdown). The biggest gap was when they (dunno which) skipped the first two songs (40-39), played 38-about 25, SKIPPED about the next 20 and managed to pick up the top five. There have also been times when one will just totally not play the top 20.

WMEE in Fort Wayne has now played the same Backtrax USA show for 5 straight weeks! It's the April 7/8 show. It's for both the 80s and 90s version! Bad!

Several years ago, WYOY-FM had a couple of automation screw-ups. One night, their top-of-the-hour ID kept running continuously for 30 minutes. There were a couple of times when they two computers playing music at the same time all night.
A few years ago on Saturday, urban AC WKXI-FM re-aired the voice-tracks of their nighttime DJ from the night before. The thing was, all the songs he back-sold were all wrong. For instance, a Keith Sweat song had just been played, but it was back-sold as a Beyonce song.
When KHTS-FM San Diego played Carson Daly, after he would back-sell a song, he would drop in the line like "this is OutKast with 'Hey Ya' on Kiss". KHTS-FM is called Channel, not Kiss.
One of the more famous screw-ups was when Valentine of KIIS-FM was voice-tracking a CHR station in Dayton and he interviewed the Backstreet Boys. A number of fans showed up at the station for a chance to meet them. Little did they know that Valentine and the BSB were nowhere to be found.

When they were giving away tickets to see "Friday the 13th, Part 8," the lady DJ (who'd obviously never seen any of the films) kept refering to the bad guy as "Freddy."

When KUMU was an affiliate of the John Tesh show (the weekend edition), they would repeat the last segment so the show went well over the three hour mark. And this went on for several weeks.

Here's a brand new one for you
WKSS airs American Top 40, but it wasn't this week's show it was last week's show and worse they stop the show before they went to do the top ten.

Sunday 5/27/07 On KDDB they repeated the 2nd hour of the Hollywood Hamilton Weekend Top 30, went to a stopset and didn't bother playing the top ten in the 3rd hour. Thanks a lot.

A caller won a contest on KMVI Maui's ESPN 550. Host Fred Guzman told the caller to stay on the line for the contact information. They went to commercial but in the background I could still hear the conversation over the air.

I already heard this week's show so I turned it off. Just checking back in, two hours later they somehow went to this week's show and ended the show at #13, went to a stopset and didn't bother to finish the countdown.
