It's funny how Kellys fans brag about her 'Breakaway' singles yet it's suprising none of them are even on the 'songs with most spins' total on mediabase.

How far back does the Mediabase database go? I researched some songs and got some "interesting results". For example, when I looked up Tim McGraw's "Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It", which was a top 5 hit back in 1997, it said it has only 3700 country spins to date. I find this a little hard to believe. Also, why is there often a rather large discrepancy between the total country spins and total spins? This occurs even when all of the other columns have 0's and I know the song was not released to A/C or top 40 stations. Thanks!

All Certified Spins are thanks to Billboard Magazine along with nelson from ukmix.org who I copied the info from and the Mediabase spin totals are credited to Hanboo from ukmix.org. www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=46515&start=100That is the link to the info. Plus more info availible there like all time AI and spins for the top artists. How reliable is all of that? I find it odd that Tim McGraw and George Strait top that impressions list when country songs don't get that many impressions (relatively). The #1 country song usually has 30-35 million impressions, while Mariah was topping 200 million impressions with "We Belong Together." "Honey" debuted in the 20s on Hot 100 Airplay with over 20 million impressions. How does Tim beat Mariah by a lot?

WOW. Breakaway did have lots airplay. I think RCA Clive did a great job at promoting the album.
Question: Is this 'BDS Certified Spin Award' a real award?

Is there somewhere to find data on old awards? I'd love to see what songs from years ago are certified.

Just old issues of Billboard. 50+ awards are given each month.

WOW. Breakaway did have lots airplay. Mainly because the AC/ Hot AC stations are playing the hell outta this album. The following list, which shows the 50 biggest cumulated audiences per year by artist, will help you determine the most successful studio albums in audience terms. The ones I posted are from Broadcast Data Systems.
What you posted is Mediabase.
BDS and Mediabase are very different.
I don't know if BHC has been certified or not. I would assume it has been.

That list is slightly deceptive in that it reflects a single year. If an artist releases an album late in a year, then their singles get split across years, and thus that list wouldn't be a true reflection for an album (think of how Mariah's "Fantasy" and part of "One Sweet Day" were in 1995 and then part of "OSD," "Always Be My Baby," and "Forever" were in 1996).

It's funny how Kellys fans brag about her 'Breakaway' singles yet it's suprising none of them are even on the 'songs with most spins' total on mediabase. And that was necessary because...?

are those certifications automatic or the record company has to ask for them, like on RIAA?
also, to the person that kindly post those awards every month... are you posting ALL the awards published on the magazine or only the biggest ones? cuz i noticed that in some months we got Awards for 50k, 100k, 200k spins and in the last few months we're only getting for 300k or higher

I think they are considering how many are certified each month. I do not have time and my typing is very slow so I do not post all the awards. Just the major ones...

^ "Breakaway" had more support from AC stations, which probably helped it overall.

I hope they haven't stopped running the ads.
