A small mention: www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=68873American Idol (AI) is now acknowledged as the most successful show in the history of TV. Think 33.5 million viewers worldwide. If you doubt figures, then another proof of its wide reach and influence is the fact that not only the winners, but also the finalists get a crack at the big time. Check out Academy Award winner for Dreamgirls Jennifer Hudson from two seasons ago or Clay Aiken from the second edition. A few days ago, there came the release of the debut album of Katharine McPhee, last year's runner-up to Taylor Hicks and it looks like she too will become a star. Her album has the makings of a big hit

There's a new fan video from Clay's "The Great Adventure" performance with Stephen Curtis Chapman. It's not the whole song, just about one minute, but it starts before Clay comes on stage so you can hear the crowd's reaction when Clay is introduced and first appears onstage. Very nice. www.sendspace.com/file/hgyhfbThere's also a cute photo of Clay with SCC's sons' band.

Just a reminder that Clay's Valentine appearance on Jimmy Kimmel repeats tonight.
From the OFC:
If anyone missed it the first time around be sure to watch it. The Valentine candy song is just hilarious.

Just a reminder that Clay's Valentine appearance on Jimmy Kimmel repeats tonight. Oh, thank you! I did not know that! Yeah, it's worth watching just for that song! LOL BTW, Clay looks really fat in that pic with SCC's sons' band, doesn't he? (And both the guys on the left look like SCC - and each other. Are they both his sons?)

Yes, Clay looks disgustingly fat in that picture with The Following....LOL
Loved the fan video from the SCC concert which was shot from the front....the audio is much better than the one previously seen.
I so hope that Clay will perform SCC's song which was written for him during the upcoming Clay Aiken Summer 2007 Tour.

That is a really nice picture. Wish I had Clay's "fat" problem.

I thought we would have more tour details by now. They have done too well at stopping the leaks. Inquiring minds need to know.

Hmm. New York in early July, midwest-then TX later in July, and San Diego in early August. Dare I hope he then continues up the west coast later in August, including LA, the Bay Area, Portland, and Seattle?
Oh, and Clay's concerts tend to get better as the tours progress. (We had the misfortune of getting one of the very early JNT2 concerts in Seattle: not one of the best shows of that tour.) I'll be delighted if the Pacific NW gets some of the later 2007 concerts.

To add to the speculation about a growing rift between Clay and TBTB at 19/AI, check this out: blogs.usatoday.com/idolchatter/Hmm. So they're including "sappy love song" ballad crooners like Groban and (largely) "covers" artists like Bublé and Il Divo, for a charity extravaganza focusing on Africa, with UNICEF being one of the beneficiaries, and they're ignoring one of Idol's most popular and commercially successful contestants, who's also a "crooner" and "power ballad belter" and who happens to be a UNICEF Amabassador to, among other places, Africa.

Well, hell, maybe since that is in April they can then show a LIVE feed from their ambassador who will probably be in Africia on his tour. Wouldn't that just say something? At least that can be the rebuttal used that while they are singing on a stage in LA, he is there, AGAIN, trying to do something.

It's good for UNICEF and other charities, it does make me very angry though. It seems as though they are always trying to kick him to the curb. I am surprised that Buble and Groban would be on idol, exposure is exposure I guess.

If Clay would be included, whether onstage here or via video from Darfur, it would still be good for UNICEF and the other charities. Better, even.

The charities will benefit. With the amount of money that show is making they should be giving something back.

The charities would benefit from Clay's participation too. I still say it's HUGE slap in the face for him to be snubbed for an event of this sort. I can only hope that it does signal a complete break from the Idol people if that happens.

They can ignore him all they want if it means he's getting away from AI and RCA. IMO that would be the best thing that could happen for him. I'm sick of the games the Idol franchise plays.

I can only hope that it does signal a complete break from the Idol people if that happens. I really don't see the "slap in the face" that you refer to. First, all of the aforementioned artists who will be appearing on the show are non-AI alums; if an AI alum were on the show, I could somewhat see your point. Second, all of the scheduled artists are largely internationally popular, something Clay will hopefully someday be (perhaps the show will be broadcasted outside of North America). The only one artist that does not fit in the group IMO is Il Divo- HUH ??? Possibly they are on as a result of Simon's nonstop pimping of his 'prodigies'. On a different note, here is Clay's sales this week according to USA Today 'Idol Chatter': Off the chart: I just have Clay and Ruben numbers this week: Clay sold 1,000, down from 1,100, total 504,000.

I see Idol is trying to soften their image. LOL
It's all good. Even though it is blatant manipulation, the charities will benefit and that is the bottom line.
I will just continue to support UNICEF and other charities as I have always done.
I truly do not expect to see Clay again on the Idol stage...I will be one surprised cookie if he is.
Count me in the number of those hoping for a break with not only all things Idol but with the current record label. However, if that doesn't happen, I will deal. LOL
Here is a tidbit concerning Kimmel ratings:
